3. Getting Started
3.1 Installing a Memory Card
Insert the memory card into the camera's card slot until it clicks. To remove, power off the camera first, then push the card in until it clicks again. It is recommended to format the memory card using the Roadview APP's settings before first use. For optimal performance and lifespan, format the Micro SD card every 2 weeks. Do not remove the card while the camera is recording to prevent data loss.
3.2 Installing the Camera onto Your Windshield
- Assemble the 3M mount holder to the camera.
- Thoroughly clean the windshield with water or alcohol and wipe dry with a clean cloth.
- Peel off the 3M tape and stick the dash cam behind the rear-view mirror, which is the recommended position to ensure it does not obstruct the driver's view.
- Carefully route the power cable around the windshield and tuck it under the trim.
- Connect the supplied car charger to the camera mount base using the charging cable.
- Insert the car charger into your vehicle's cigarette lighter port.
- Start the car. The camera will automatically power on and begin recording.
4. Basic Operation
4.1 Power ON/OFF
The camera automatically powers on and starts recording when the vehicle's ignition is turned on. A voice prompt "start recording" will be heard. The camera powers off when the charger cable is disconnected or the vehicle is turned off.
4.2 APP Download
Download the "RoadView" app by scanning the provided QR codes for Android or iPhone, or by searching for "RoadView" on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
4.3 WiFi Connection

4.42 Snapshot
Capture a still image by single-clicking the Remote Controller or pressing the Snapshot button in the app while the camera is recording.
4.43 Album
The Album section organizes files into "SD card" and "Local" folders. You can view loop recording videos, photos, and emergency videos on the SD card, and downloaded videos in the Local folder.
4.5 Event Recording
Critical events like vehicle impact or collision trigger the G-Sensor, automatically locking and saving the current video clip into the "Video/Event" folder to prevent overwriting. You can also manually lock the current recording by double-clicking the Remote Controller, which will prompt "emergency recording". G-Sensor sensitivity is adjustable (Low, Medium, High) and can be deactivated. Event videos are stored in the "Notfall" (Emergency) folder and are not automatically overwritten. Note: Old Event videos are auto-overwritten when the Event folder reaches 25% capacity. Regularly transfer important videos to your PC or external storage. Format the microSD card every 1-2 weeks for optimal performance.
4.6 Loop Recording
The camera starts loop recording automatically when connected to power and turned on. The power LED indicator will flash during recording. The default loop recording time is 1 minute, adjustable in the app's Video segmentation setting (1, 2, 3, 5 minutes). Loop recording files are named "Year_Date_Time_Serial" and stored in the "Video/Normal" folder. When the microSD card is full, the camera overwrites older files.
4.7 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System)
The dash cam features ADAS, providing real-time intelligent lane departure warnings and forward collision warnings to enhance traffic safety. Forward collision warnings alert when driving too close to the vehicle ahead, and lane departure warnings alert if the vehicle drifts off-road or crosses lanes.
4.8 Parking Mode
Parking Mode acts as a sentry function. Activate it via the Parking Monitor button in the app. When Parking Monitor is on, if no movement is detected in front of the camera for 5 minutes, Parking Mode activates. Upon detecting movement, the camera starts auto-recording and stops after 10 seconds of inactivity. The camera exits Parking Mode if it detects itself being moved. To ensure functionality, power the camera with a mobile power bank or hardwire it to the car battery. Avoid continuous operation for more than 10 hours.
4.9 Viewing Video/Photos via APP
Access videos and photos through the Roadview app by navigating to Album -> SD card (for Loop/Urgent/Photo) or Local. Photos must be downloaded to view them on your phone. Use the Edit button to select files for download or deletion.
Viewing files on a computer
Connect the camera to your computer using the supplied USB cable. You will hear a voice prompt "Mass storage USB connecting". The device will appear as a removable drive. Note: Camera setup and operations are disabled when connected in "Mass Storage" mode.
4.10 Video and picture sharing
The dash cam allows real-time viewing, easy uploading of videos to social media, and video editing.
4.11 Editing videos
Connect to the dash cam's WiFi. In the app, go to Local files, select Video, choose a video, press the "Edit" button, make your edits, and click "Done". You can continue editing by clicking the Edit button again.
4.12 Sharing a video
To share a full video, use the Roadview app: Local file -> Video -> select video -> Download -> find the video in your phone's files and share. To share an edited video, use the Roadview app: Local file -> select edited video -> click the Share button to share to social media.
4.13 Sharing a photo
Use the Roadview app: Local file -> Photo -> select the photo -> click the Share button to share it to social media.
4.14 GPS Function
The dash cam has a built-in GPS function. Press the GPS button to activate it; you will hear "GPS Ready" when a signal is received. To review GPS video:
- On a computer: Use the VANTRUE® GPS Viewer, available for download at www.vantrue.net.
- On a phone: Download the video first; it will be stored in the phone's files.
4.15 Working Temperature
The camera is designed to operate between 14°F and 131°F (-10°C to 55°C). Temperatures outside this range may degrade performance or cause damage. To avoid damage: In hot weather, do not leave the camera exposed to direct sun when the car is parked. In extreme winter conditions (14°F / -10°C or lower), detach the camera from the windshield when not in use and store it in the glove box.
