Installation and Wiring
5. INSTALLATION AND WIRING
WARNING! Before installing this unit onto any panel, ALWAYS ensure that there is sufficient clearance behind the panel, and that no wire harnesses, fuel lines, moving linkages, or any other critical components are exposed and damaged by the installation. NEVER risk damaging the hull when cutting your opening.
This unit is for use in places with a negative ground 12 V power supply.
Before starting: Read these instructions carefully. Be sure to disconnect the battery "-" terminal before starting. This is to prevent short circuits during installation. The use of unauthorized parts can cause permanent damage to the unit.
6. ADDING AMPLIFIERS AND CAMERA
The CMR-3 has a built-in 4 X 50 Watt per channel amplifier. However, it is recommended to add an aftermarket external amplifier as the ambient noise floor in the water can be very high, requiring more power to overcome it. The CMR-3 comes with Front/Rear/Subwoofer RCA outputs to easily add more power by connecting a more powerful multi-channel amplifier to your marine system.
The CMR-3 also includes a rear back-up camera connection. The actual camera is optional and not included. With this RCA connection, you can add a waterproof backup camera for clear visual sight when hitching/unhitching your trailer. The typical connection/function of a "Back Up Camera" is through the power wiring setup. You will need to add a SP/ST switch to the power connection to the back-up camera. When this switch is switched "ON", the Back Up Camera is activated and is automatically switched on the TFT screen of your CMR-3 Media Receiver.
Camera Wiring Diagram Description: A diagram illustrates the rear camera connection. It shows a 12V B+ FROM BATTERY connected via a SP/ST SWITCH to a SWITCHED 12v FROM BATTERY, which then connects to the REAR CAMERA INPUT. The camera itself is shown with a B- (Ground) connection and labeled as 'Back Up Camera (optional)'.
