GAT SLR 73xx Series: Readers for Access Control

The GANTNER GAT SLR 7300, 7307, 7310, and 7317 readers are designed for identifying individuals using contactless RFID data carriers. They connect to an access controller via structured building cabling, with the controller handling authorization evaluation and granting. These multi-technology readers support widely used RFID technologies like LEGIC and MIFARE, and can read unique numbers from various other identification technologies and RFID standards, including ISO 14443 A and B, ISO 15693, NFC, and HID iClass.

Typical Application

The readers are integrated into access control systems. The typical setup involves:

  • 1: Unsecured area
  • 2: Secured area
  • 3: Access controller
  • 4: Network connection
  • 5: Power supply unit
  • 6: Mains power supply
  • 7: RFID data carrier (used by person)
  • 8: Electronic lock
  • 9: Door contact sensor

Diagrams illustrate the physical placement of the reader and its connection to the access controller and door hardware.

Front View: Width 44 mm, Height 139.9 mm. Features include: 1. LED status bar, 2. Illuminated scan field, 3. Mounting holes.

Side View: Width 39 mm, Height 81.9 mm, Depth 22.2 mm.

Installation

Safety Instructions: Installation and maintenance must be performed by trained, qualified personnel, adhering to all safety and accident prevention regulations. Safety devices must not be removed, and the device's technical data must be observed. The device must be disconnected from the power supply before any work.

RF Exposure: Users must maintain a minimum distance of 20 cm from the device, except during identification or operation processes (e.g., PIN-code input).

Mounting: The rear part of the GAT SLR 73xx is mounted to a flat surface (e.g., concrete wall) using screws. The recommended mounting height is the device center at 1.3 m. Installation requires specific measurements for the device housing and cable routing. Ensure electrical connections are made in a powerless state. Cables should be routed flush-mounted, and the terminal cover secured for protection. Use appropriate screws and dowels for secure mounting. For outdoor installations of GAT SLR 7307/7317, a sealing cap must be used to protect against dirt and moisture.

Attaching/Removing Front Part: To attach, hook the top edge of the front part into the rear part and swing the bottom forward until it clicks. To remove, use a flat tool in the bottom slot to release the front part and swing it forward.

Electrical Connections

General Caution: Always disconnect the power supply before altering electrical connections.

Connection to GAT DC 7200: Diagrams show connections for GAT SLR 7300/7310 and GAT SLR 7307/7317 to the GAT DC 7200 controller. Pinouts for supplied standard cables (Part No. 869834 for 7300/7310 and Part No. 982839 for 7307/7317) are provided, detailing signal assignments (IDENT, GND, RS-485 A/B, VIn+, etc.) and wire colors. Shielded, twisted-pair CAT 5 cabling is recommended, with power supplied via two wire pairs, and a maximum cable length of 200 m.

Important Notes: The RS-485 connection for GAT SLR 73xx must be made to the periphery interface (reader) on GAT Terminal 3000/3100, not the host interface. On GAT DC 7200, it connects to reader interfaces, not the sub interface. The GAT DC 7200 uses the "IDENT" line for "Plug&Play PLUS" commissioning and reader recognition. The IDENT line is not used when connecting to GAT Terminal 3000/3100.

Connectable Control Units: GAT DC 7200, GAT Terminal 3100 (with Card.NET and reader update support), GAT Terminal 3000 (Card.NET support only, no reader update).
