Rear Panel
The rear panel features 2 Redundant Power Supplies (100 - 240V AC, 2-1.2A, 50/60Hz).
Installation
FortiGate units can be installed as desktop devices or mounted in a 19-inch rack using provided brackets.
Desktop Mount
- Place the unit on a flat, clean, and stable surface.
- Ensure at least 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) of clearance for adequate airflow around the device.
- Plug the provided power cable into the rear of the unit and then into a grounded electrical outlet or UPS.
Rack Mount
Recommended for two or more people:
- Attach the provided rack-mount brackets and screws to the unit.
- Position the device in the rack and slide it in.
- Fasten screws to secure the device.
Caution: Maintain recommended clearance for airflow.
Basic Connections
Power Connection: Connect the supplied power cable to the unit's power input and then to a power outlet or UPS.
WAN Connection: Connect a WAN port (e.g., WAN 1) to the internet using the supplied Ethernet cable. A UPS is recommended for power outages.
Setup Options
Choose one of the following methods to set up your FortiGate:
A. GUI (Graphical User Interface)
An easy-to-use web-based interface. Requires a management computer connected via Ethernet to Port 1. Set the computer's IP to 192.168.1.1 (subnet 255.255.255.0) or use DHCP. Access the GUI at 192.168.1.99 in a web browser. Log in with username 'admin' and no password.
B. FortiGate Cloud
A cloud-based management and log retention service. Log in to forticloud.com with your Fortinet credentials, click 'Add FortiGate', and enter the Cloud Key from your device's sticker. Register at support.fortinet.com for an account.
C. FortiExplorer
A user-friendly mobile application (iOS) for configuration and monitoring. It supports Cloud Key setup (scan QR code) or USB setup (connect via USB cable). Log in with username 'admin' and no password.
D. Command Line Interface (CLI)
Use a terminal emulation application connected via a console cable (available for purchase) to the Console port. Default settings: Baud rate 9600, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, None parity, None flow control. Log in with username 'admin' and no password.

This device complies with Part 15 of FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received. It has been tested and found to comply with Class A limits for commercial environments. It should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 20cm between the radiator and your body.
Industry Canada (IC) / Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED)
This digital apparatus does not exceed Class A limits for radio noise emissions. It complies with ISED radiation exposure limits and should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 20cm between the radiator and your body.
European Conformity (CE) - EU
This is a Class A product. In a domestic environment, it may cause radio interference. The product transmits within 2402-2480MHz with less than 20dBm power. It should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 20cm between the radiator and your body.
