IMPORTANT: Disconnect the vehicle's negative(-) battery terminal before beginning the installation. · />Jways wear protective eyewearwhen us·ng tools. · Choose a sate mounting location, away from moisture. Check clearances on both sides of a planned mounting suriace. Be sure that screws or wires will not puncture brake lines, fuel lines, or wiring harnesses and that vAre routing will not intetfere wtth the sate vehicle operation. Use caution when drilling or cutting in the mounting area. · Choose a location that provides enough air circulation. m · · Do no: mount the amplifier with the heat sink iacing downward, as this interferes with cooling. Mount the amplifier so that ij vAII not be damaged by the ieet of backseat passengers or shifting cargo in the trunk. Note: when using high-level signals, set the 'TURN-ON MOOE" switch to ·oc· and the "INPUT LEVEL" S\·Atch to 'Hl1". Hno sound plays, change the '1NPUT LEVEL" switch to "Hl2". CONNECTING TWO REFERENCE 10001A AMPLIFIERS FOR EXTRA POWER To connect two Reference 10001a amplffiers, use an RCA patch cab'e to connect the "PRIMARY OUT" of the primary amptaier to the "SECONDARY IN" of the secondary amplifier. Set the Primary/ Secondary switch to "PRI MARY" on the pnmary amplifier, and to "SECONDARY" on the secondary amplffier. Start with GAIN control set to minimum, and the crossover control rotated midway . GAl: mMAX W MIN 2. Choose music with substantial bass content. 3. Turn the volume control on your receiver to ¾ oi its total output. 4. Ad:ust the GAIN control clockwise, listening carefutly to the bass output. Tum the dials to the lett to lower the crossover point and to the right to raise the crossover point. Amplifier fuse keeps blowing. · The wiling is connected incorrectly or there is a short circuit. Check wiring connections. Distorted audio. · Gain is not set properly. Check setting. Check wires for shorts or grounds. Amploier or source unit may be defective. Distorted audio and PROTECT INDICATOR flashes, · Shorc circuit in speaker or wire. Remove speaker leads one at a time to locate shorted speaker or \·Are, and repa:r. M usic lacks dynamics or 11punch11· · Speakers are not connected properly, Check speaker com ections for proper polarity. Engine noise - whining or clicking-in system when the engine is on. · Amplifier is picking up alternator noise. Rrst, check ground com ection on the amplifier - a loose or improper ground is one of the main causes for noise. Turn down gain. Move RCA audio cab les away from power wires.
