Biamp Tesira System Design Guide: Casino Resort
This guide outlines the application of Biamp's Tesira platform for audio and video systems in casino resorts, sportsbooks, and convention centers. It details how Tesira addresses the complex AV requirements of these environments, ensuring high-quality experiences for patrons.
Casino Resort
Casinos function as adult amusement parks, incorporating amenities like restaurants, shows, and shopping to attract and retain guests. The interior design aims to keep patrons happy, provide unique experiences, and encourage gambling. Audio and video systems play a crucial role in achieving these goals.
Audio in casinos is carefully curated. Soft lounge music suits table games, promoting calmness, while high-energy, cheerful melodies are preferred for slot machine areas to signify wins. Video is utilized for digital signage, promoting venues and events, and for streaming live sports or on-demand content to patrons.
The AV requirements for casinos are demanding. Biamp's Tesira platform is presented as the ideal solution to meet and exceed these expectations.
Casino Floor System Design
On the casino floor, video serves two primary purposes: digital signage and streaming to gaming areas, restaurants, and bars. Digital signage informs patrons about onsite activities, encouraging them to remain on the premises. Streaming video requires mandatory HDCP 2.2 compliance, and the ability to switch sources quickly and cleanly is essential.
TesiraLUX is highlighted for its suitability in video-intensive casino environments due to its flexibility and ease of management. Key features include:
- A unified software environment for both audio and video projects, simplifying de-embedding, processing, and re-embedding audio streams while maintaining clock synchronization.
- Independent routing of audio and video to different casino zones via the AV router block.
- Support for fiber connections for runs exceeding 100 meters.
In a typical casino floor setup, TesiraLUX streams video to individual displays. Digital signage players feed content into TesiraLUX at the shared head end, allowing flexible routing across the network without needing players at each display. TesiraLUX also ensures HDCP compliance and allows prioritization of displays if device counts are exceeded. Redundant Tesira SERVERs at the head end provide advanced audio processing and high uptime.
System Diagram Description (Casino Floor)
The system architecture includes a "SHARED HEAD END" housing Tesira SERVERs, digital signage players, CATV tuners, and other sources. This head end connects via Cisco Catalyst switches (9300-48P and 9300-24P) to an "IDF FOR GAMING TABLE AREA." The IDF contains Tesira AMP-4300R CV amplifiers powering multiple loudspeakers distributed throughout the gaming table area. Connections are also made to "OTHER PARTS OF THE NETWORK." The legend indicates color coding for Tesira (AVB/TSN) connections, Analog Audio I/O, Network/Control, and Digital Video.
TesiraLUX Features
- Single software design environment for audio and video installations.
- Supports HDCP-protected content (v2.2), with software indicating protected pathways.
- Video wall capable.
- Superior switching speed and artifact-free transitions between content sources.
- Port-to-port latency under 1.5 frames.
- Multiple software options for network bandwidth management.
- 1Gb (RJ-45) and 10Gb (SFP+) media ports, supporting fiber connections.
- Broadcast-quality scaler for EDID management.
Sportsbook
User experience is paramount in a sportsbook, with the AV system being a critical factor. The system handles numerous video sources, requiring mandatory HDCP 2.2 compliance and fast, clean source switching.
TesiraLUX is described as a simple yet flexible network video solution for sportsbooks. It facilitates streaming video sources to video wall processors and individual displays, ensuring HDCP compliance and allowing display prioritization. Tesira SERVER-IO provides sound reinforcement and audio processing, while Tesira AMP-450P amplifiers are recommended for local audio reinforcement in semi-private booths.
Tesira's network platform and design flexibility enable dynamic AV support, allowing quick re-routing of video streams based on patron needs.
System Diagram Description (Sportsbook)
The sportsbook system connects from a "SHARED HEAD END" to a "VIDEO WALL CONTROLLER." It utilizes Tesira AMP-4300R CV and Tesira AMP-450P amplifiers to power multiple loudspeakers. The diagram shows 40x TesiraLUX OH-1 units and multiple other loudspeakers. The legend is consistent with the casino floor diagram.

Convention Center
Convention center ballrooms require rapid reconfiguration for various events, impacting audio and video distribution. Tesira is presented as ideal for managing ballroom AV, with presets allowing quick routing changes and partitioned system design enabling work in unused areas without disruption.
Mobile carts with wireless microphones and media sources can be deployed anywhere. Wired microphones can connect via Tesira EX-IO or Dante-enabled wallplates. The Tesira EX-UBT supports Bluetooth® for patrons streaming their own background audio. AmbientSense™ technology automatically adjusts audio levels based on ambient noise, using an adaptive DSP algorithm.
System Diagram Description (Convention Center)
The convention center setup originates from a "SHARED HEAD END" connected via a Cisco Catalyst 9300-48P switch to the "CONVENTION CENTER." Within the center, components include Tesira SERVER-IO (with DSP-2, SAC-4, and DAN-1 cards), TesiraLUX IDH-1, Tesira AMP-4300R CV amplifiers, Tesira EX-UBT, and Tesira EX-IO units. A mobile cart with wireless microphones and receivers is also shown. The system distributes audio and video to multiple ballrooms (Ballroom 1-5) and the foyer, with multiple loudspeakers in each area. Floor tanks are used for connecting wired microphones via Tesira EX-IO. The legend includes Tesira (AVB/TSN), Analog Audio I/O, Network/Control, Digital Video, Dante, and Floor Tank.
