Help and Tips for Wi-Fi and Connectivity
If the HP software cannot find your printer during setup, check the following:
Reset Wi-Fi (Setup Mode)
During initial setup: If the blue Wi-Fi light is not blinking, the printer may not be in Wi-Fi setup mode. Follow the steps below to enable setup mode.
During printer use: If the blue Wi-Fi light is off, the printer has disconnected from the network. Turn the printer off and on again. If it doesn't reconnect automatically, follow the steps below.
Reset Wi-Fi
- Press and hold the Cancel button [✖] and the Information button [?] simultaneously. Release the buttons when the Power button briefly flashes. The Wireless light will blink blue, indicating setup mode.
- Wait for one minute. Close and reopen the HP software and attempt to connect again.
Other Potential Issues and Solutions
Potential Issue | Solution |
Computer or mobile device too far from printer | Move your computer or mobile device closer to the printer. Your device may be out of the printer's Wi-Fi range. |
Computer connected to a Virtual Private Network (VPN) or remote work network | Disconnect from the VPN before installing HP software. You cannot install apps from the Microsoft Store when connected to a VPN. Reconnect to the VPN after finishing printer setup. Note: Consider your location and Wi-Fi network security before disconnecting from a VPN. |
Wi-Fi turned off on computer (computer connected by Ethernet) | If your computer is connected via Ethernet, turn on the computer's Wi-Fi during printer setup. Temporarily disconnect the Ethernet cable to complete setup over Wi-Fi. |
Bluetooth and location services are turned off on your mobile device | If setting up with a mobile device, turn on Bluetooth and location services. This helps the software find your network and printer. Note: Your location is not being tracked, and no location information is sent to HP during setup. |
