The device's front panel includes a large display screen showing measurement data. Below the screen are several buttons: a large 'READ' button for measurement initiation and power, '+' and 'OFF CLEAR' buttons for adjustments and functions, and a 'U' button for various modes and settings. The laser emitter is located at the top, and the battery compartment is on the back.
Batteries Installation and Operation
Batteries Installation:
The device is powered by 1.5V AAA alkaline batteries.
- To install or replace batteries, discharge the battery door on the back of the device.
- Place batteries according to the correct polarity, then close the battery door.
- If the device is not used for a long time, remove the batteries to prevent corrosion.
The battery compartment is located on the back of the device. It opens by releasing a latch. The device requires two 1.5V AAA batteries, which should be inserted with correct polarity as indicated inside the compartment.
Turning On/Off the Instrument:
- To turn on, press the [READ] button. The device and laser will activate simultaneously.
- To turn off, long press the [OFF CLEAR] button for 3 seconds. The device also shuts off automatically after 150 seconds of inactivity.
Unit Setting:
Long press the [U] button to reset the current measurement unit. The default unit is 0.000m. There are 6 units for selection:

Measurement Functions
Changing Reference Point:
Press the [U] button to change the reference point. The default reference point is the rear of the device.
Back Light On/Off:
The backlight turns on automatically during operation and turns off after 15 seconds of inactivity.
Self-Calibration:
This function helps maintain the precision of the device.
- Power off the device.
- Long press the [OFF CLEAR] button and then press the [READ] button.
- Release the [READ] button, then release the [OFF CLEAR] button until "CAL" and a figure appear on the screen.
- Use the [+] or [-] buttons to adjust the figure to match the meter's accuracy. The adjustment range is -9mm to 9mm.
- Long press the [READ] button to save the calibration result.
Length Measurement & Calculation:
Single Distance Measuring:
Turn on the laser beam by short pressing the [READ] button. Press [READ] again for a single distance measurement. The result is displayed in the major display area.
Continuous Measuring:
Long press the [READ] button under measuring mode to enter continuous measuring mode. The maximum measured result is shown in the auxiliary display area, and the current result is shown in the major display area. Short press [OFF CLEAR] or [READ] to exit continuous measuring mode.
Area Measurement:
Press the [U] button. One side of a rectangle will blink on the display. Follow these steps:
- Press [READ] for the length.
- Press [READ] again for the width.
The device calculates and displays the area in the major display area. The previous length measurement is shown in the auxiliary display area. Press [OFF CLEAR] to clear the result and measure again if needed. Press [OFF CLEAR] again to exit the mode.
Volume Measurement:
Press the [U] button twice to enter volume measurement mode. A symbol [volume] will appear on the top of the screen. Follow these steps:
- Press [READ] for the length.
- Press [READ] again for the width.
- Press [READ] a third time for the height.
The device calculates and displays the volume in the major display area. Press [OFF CLEAR] to clear the result and measure again if needed. Press [OFF CLEAR] again to exit the mode.
Pythagoras:
There are four Pythagoras modes to assist when direct measurement is difficult.
- Calculate the second leg: Measure the hypotenuse and one leg.
- Short press [U] three times to enter Pythagoras mode. The hypotenuse symbol [hypotenuse] will blink.
- Press [READ] to measure the hypotenuse (a).
- Press [READ] again to measure one leg (b). The device calculates the length of the other leg (x).
- Calculate the hypotenuse: Measure the lengths of two legs.
- Short press [U] four times. One leg symbol [leg] will blink.
- Press [READ] to measure one leg (a).
- Press [READ] again to measure the other leg (b). The device calculates the length of the hypotenuse (x).
- Calculate a side using median line: Measure one side and the median line.
- Short press [U] five times. One side symbol [side] will blink.
- Press [READ] to measure one side (a).
- Press [READ] again to measure the median line (b).
- Press [READ] a third time to measure another side (c). The device calculates the length of the leg in full line (x).
- Calculate a leg in full line: Measure hypotenuse and two legs.
- Short press [U] six times. The hypotenuse symbol [hypotenuse] will blink.
- Press [READ] to measure the hypotenuse (a).
- Press [READ] again to measure another hypotenuse (b).
- Press [READ] a third time to measure one leg (c). The device calculates the length of the leg in full line (x).
Note: Legs must be shorter than the hypotenuse; otherwise, an "Err" message will appear. Ensure all measurements start from the same point for accuracy.
Addition / Subtraction
The device supports length, area, and volume addition and subtraction.
- To perform addition (cumulation), press [+]. The symbol "+" will appear, showing the last measurement and the cumulative result.
- To perform subtraction (regressive), press [-]. The symbol "-" will appear, showing the last measurement and the cumulative result.
Example for Area Cumulative Function:
- Measure the first area (shown as P1C1).
- Press [+] and measure the second area (shown as P1C2). A "+" symbol appears in the bottom left.
- Press [READ] to get the summation result of these two areas (shown as P1C3).
The diagrams illustrate the process: P1C1 shows an initial area measurement. P1C2 shows a second area measurement being added, indicated by a '+' symbol. P1C3 displays the combined total area.
Record Function, Angle Measurement, and Tips
Record Function:
Long press the [U] button for 3 seconds to record the current measurement result. Records can be saved for Area, Volume, and Pythagoras modes as well.
Read / Delete Records:
- Short press the [READ] button to read saved records. Use [+] and [-] to navigate.
- Short press [OFF CLEAR] to delete the most recent record.
- Long press [OFF CLEAR] or [U] to exit the record mode.
Angle Measurement:
The angle information is displayed at the top of the screen. The angle measurement range is -90.0° to 90.0°.
Tips and Error Messages:
The device may display warning information. Here are common messages:

Note: Use a target plate to increase the measurement range during daylight or if the target has poor reflection properties.
Instrument Maintenance
- Typical Tolerance: ±2mm for reflectivity 100% (white surface) and environment light <2000 LUX at 25°C. Tolerance can be affected by distance, reflectivity, and environment light, potentially reaching ±(2mm+0.2mm/m).
- Do not store the meter in high temperature and strong humidity environments for extended periods. If not used frequently, remove the batteries and store the meter in a cool, dry place in its protective bag.
- Keep the device surface clean. Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning. Avoid using corrosive liquids. The laser output window and focus lens can be maintained according to optical device maintenance procedures.
