This device may not cause harmful interference. 2. This device must accept any interference, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Introduction The ERA-UTX is a Universal Transmitter compatible with all ERA series receivers. When the ERA-UTX is triggered (see one of the three methods below), it sends a radio signal, up to 4,000 feet line of sight, to a compatible receiver. It must be used in conjunction with a compatible ERA series receiver to function properly. The ERA-UTX may be purchased individually or may be in a kit. The ERA-UTX has several methods of activation. · A push button that can be used as a panic button or doorbell button. It is activated when the center gray button is pressed. · There is also a magnetic contact that can be used for doors or windows. When the door or window is opened, the transmitters is triggered. · The ERA-UTX also has terminals for a normally open (N/O) or normally closed (N/C) input. These inputs can be used with any detector contacts. Do not connect a lighted doorbell button to the ERA-UTX or it will drain the battery. Battery Installation: 1. Remove silicon plugs inside each screw well. (figure 1) 2. Remove the four screws on the back of the case c3o. mRepmaortvmeetnotp. (hfiagluf oref c2a) se from lower half of case to find the battery 4. Install the included CR-2 battery in the holder. 5. Follow the instructions for "Pairing Transmitter to Receiver". 6. Note: When battery gets weak, it will notify the receiver. Consult the receiver user's manual for the specific indication. (Figure 1) (Figure 2) Pair Transmitter to Receiver: (Always test unit prior to installation) The transmitter works with all ERA series of receivers. At the time of this user manual, this is the ERA-DCRX, ERA-RXPG, and the ERA-VPRX. Each receiver has a slightly different way to put it into "programming mode." Once the receiver is in programming mode, the receiver's manual will instruct you to "trigger the transmitter," which is outlined in step #4 below. Once the transmitter is successfully programmed to the receiver, follow the receiver's manual to change the melody, program an additional transmitter to the receiver, or exit programming mode. 1. Ensure the battery is installed in the ERA-UTX transmitter. 2. Ensure the receiver you are programming the transmitter to is powered up and working correctly. 3. Put the receiver in programming mode. 4. Trigger the ERA-UTX by pressing the center gray button. The red LED under the gray center should light for approximately 2 seconds. 5. The receiver will respond to notify you this transmitter has been successfully programmed. Consult the specific receiver's manual. 6. Follow the receiver's instruction manual to end programming or to programm an additional transmitter. Mounting the Transmitter: · The transmitter can be mounted to any wall using the mounting bracket. · The mounting bracket is located on the back of the ERA-UTX and can be removed by simply sliding it off. · Position the bracket where you want to mount it. Use a drill and two included screws to mount the transmitter. Ensure the arrow on the mounting bracket is facing up. (figure 3) · If mounting the ERA-UTX outdoors it is recommended to place the silicon plugs back into the screw well. · Slide the transmitter onto the mounting bracket. (figure 4) Connecting an Exterior Detector: The ERA-UTX can be activated by any type of detector which provides a normally open (N/O) or normally closed (N/C) output. 1. Locate the terminals at the bottom of the case. (Figure 7) 2. Insert the wires through the silicone gasket and make the connection on the terminals. o a 3. For a normally closed (N/C) connection, connect the wires to· the NC and Common (center) terminals. 4. For a normally open (N/O) connection, connect the wires between the NO and Common (center) terminals. (Figure 3) MOUNTING BRACKET o D (Figure 7) (Figure 4) Using the Magnetic Contact: The magnetic contact can be used on most doors/windows with a gap of less than ½ inch. · Mount the push button on the door jam with the screws provided or double sided tape.. · Mount the magnet on the door (within ½" of the push button) with the screws provided. · After mounting the magnet on the door snap the cover on the magnet case. · The magnetic contact can be used on either side of the push button. (Figure 3) (Figure 5) + 12V DC · Zone 1 + 12V DC· + 12V DC - Zone 2 Zone 3 + 12V DC - (FNigOureC6O) M NC Zone 4 RELAY D TERMI NALS Using Multiple Detectors: · If multiple normally closed (N/C) contacts are to be used, they should be run in series to the N/C contacts. · If multiple normally open (N/O) contacts are used, they should be run in parallel to the N/O contacts. · Note: Both N/O and N/C contacts can be used simultaneously along with the magnetic contact and push button.
