Installation and Connection
Installation
The HCS-8316 Series Encoder is a 1U standard rack-mountable device. To install, slide the encoder into a 19-inch rack and secure it using screws through the mounting holes on the front panel.
[Diagram of rack mounting] A diagram shows the encoder being mounted in a rack with screws.
System Connection
The HCS-8316 Series Encoders are integral components of the TAIDEN Paperless Multi-Media Congress System. They connect to various system elements, including control PCs, servers, network switches, and conference terminals.
[System Connection Diagram Description] The system diagram illustrates a typical setup: Control PCs, Backup Control PCs, File Servers, and Video Servers connect via Cat.6 and Cat.5e cables to 1000M Ethernet switches. These switches then connect to TAIDEN Encoders (HCS-8316VGA-H, HCS-8316AV-H, HCS-8316SDI) and the main conference system host (HCS-8300MAD/FS/50). Other TAIDEN devices like HCS-8319N (Service Request Control Unit) and HCS-8300KMX2 (Conference Gigabit Switch) are also integrated. Translation booths are shown with HDMI connections to TAIDEN matrix switchers (e.g., HCS-8385/80, HCS-8385HDMI/02) and EP-960AN units.
Control Interface Connection
The encoders can be controlled via:
Control Type | Details |
---|---|
Serial Control Interface | RS-232, 9-pin D-sub connector. Baud Rate: 9600; Data Bits: 8; Stop Bits: 1; Parity: None. Pinout: 2=TX, 3=RX, 5=GND. |
Ethernet Control Interface | RJ45 Connector. Protocol: TCP/IP. Speed: 10M/100M/1000M. |
Settings and Operation
After system installation and connection, settings can be configured using the front panel buttons and LCD display.
