1. Precautions
- This manual provides guidelines for Air Handling Unit (AHU) design and notices for the use of the DX kit for single split outdoor units.
- This product allows AHUs from other manufacturers to be integrated with Fujitsu General split-type outdoor units. Consult this manual for guidelines when implementing this product with third-party AHUs.
- Refer to the installation manuals of this product and the outdoor unit for correct use and installation.
CAUTION
- Ensure conformity with all applicable regulations and laws for the entire system (including the outdoor unit).
- R32 is a mildly flammable refrigerant. Consult IEC 60335 and IEC 60335-2-40 (Edition 6.0). Fire safety warranty for the entire system (including the outdoor unit) must be handled by the user when using R32 refrigerant.
- For safety, always read the outdoor unit's installation manual, especially when using R32 refrigerant.

2-3. Important Notices
Read the conditions described in this section carefully and design appropriately to avoid AHU failure when incorporating this product into the system.
Requirements for using R32 refrigerant
- For disabling compressor operation during fire safety measures (e.g., refrigerant leakage), refer to "External input and output" on page 16.
- Satisfy requirements for charge limits and ventilation (IEC 60335-2-40 Annex GG).
- Satisfy requirements for marking (e.g., flame symbol) and regulatory information.
- Satisfy requirements for construction, including the location of the refrigerant detection sensor.
Temperature sensor of AHU heat exchanger (locally purchased) installation requirements
- A temperature sensor for the AHU heat exchanger (locally purchased) is necessary for controlling the outdoor unit operation.
- NTC Temperature Sensor Type: R25: 10 kΩ (±1%), B25/85: 3950 K (3900 K—4000 K).
- Cover the full sensor length with suitable insulation material to prevent ambient air temperature from affecting readings.
- The recommended sensor cable length is 2 m. For longer cables, use appropriate wire types, such as noise shield wire. Longer cables are permissible if precautions are taken to avoid electrical noise interference. A 15 m cable is generally acceptable if shielded.
- Avoid ground loops in the shield.
- Placement of the temperature sensor: Optimal placement depends on system use. Install to securely detect condensation and evaporation temperatures. For DX coils with cooling and heating, place it near the middle of the inlet and outlet pipe. For cooling-only systems, place it on the coldest part of the evaporator or midway along the inlet/outlet pipe.
- Installing the temperature sensor: Ensure good thermal contact with the sensed pipe and fasten securely using zip ties, aluminum tape, or equivalent. Protect the sensor with heat insulating materials. Route the sensor wire carefully, avoiding stress or submersion. Install where it will not be exposed to condensed water or submerged. Ensure sufficient contact area with the piping for accurate detection. Avoid direct sunlight.
AHU heat exchanger requirements in field system design
- AHU heat exchanger pipes must meet the following conditions: Clean inside, free from oil, moisture, cutting chips; no chlorine; water content ≤ 20 mg; oil content ≤ 1 mg/m; foreign substance ≤ 15 mg.
- Soldering must be performed under a protective gas atmosphere.
- Pipes must be free from dents or deformation.
- Pipe contraction sections should be smooth, without significant corrugation or burrs.
- Use only non-discolored or undeformed copper tubes.
- When designing with third-party AHUs, ensure heat exchangers meet the following withstand pressures: Outdoor unit design pressure: 4.15 MPa; AHU burst pressure: 12.45 MPa.
- Maintenance: Keep the heat exchanger clean. Rinse thoroughly to remove flux. Do not use chlorinated detergents for cleaning.
Cooling operation requirements
- Supply air (inlet) temperature range for cooling mode is 18°C to 32°C. Outside this range, supply air temperature is not guaranteed.
- If the temperature around the AHU heat exchanger air inlet drops below 18°C, icing may occur.
- If the AHU heat exchanger evaporation temperature drops below 4°C, stop compressor operation via the AHU controller. Operating below 4°C may cause failure.
- If the heat exchanger pipe temperature does not drop below the ambient air inlet temperature for over 20 minutes during continuous operation, stop compressor operation as the outdoor unit's 4-way valve may be failing.
Heating operation requirements
- Supply air (inlet) temperature range for heating mode is 10°C to 30°C. Outside this range, supply air temperature is not guaranteed.
- Stop operation if the heat exchanger pipe temperature does not rise above the ambient air temperature after 20 minutes of continuous operation, as this may indicate an outdoor unit failure.
- Operating at temperatures lower than specified may cause compressor malfunction. If the ambient air inlet temperature is lower than specified, frequent defrosting operations may occur.
