BAFX Products WiFi OBDII Diagnostic Interface

Introduction and Software Recommendations

To use the BAFX Products OBDII reader with a Windows-based PC, the following software developers are recommended:

Vehicle Compatibility Guarantee

BAFX Products guarantees that its OBD reader will work with ALL consumer vehicles purchased in the USA that are model year 1996 or newer.

If your vehicle meets these specifications and is not working with the OBD reader, please contact BAFX Products support immediately.

Heavy-Duty Vehicles and J1939 Protocol

For heavy-duty vehicles such as semis, tractors, and excavators using the J1939 protocol, the OBD reader is capable of working with them. However, there is currently no consumer-available software to use with these vehicles. Specialized software from a fleet management company is required. Traditional OBDII apps will not work with such vehicles, even with an adapter cable.

International Vehicle Compatibility

The BAFX Products OBD reader can be used on vehicles purchased in many other countries. However, different countries have different laws regarding OBDII compliance. Please check the list below to see if your vehicle's model year or newer is compatible:

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Problem: My phone cannot locate the WiFi signal.

Solution: Ensure the OBD reader is powering on. Restart your phone, as this can often resolve connectivity glitches.

Problem: The red power light is not illuminating when plugging in the OBD reader.

Solution: This typically indicates that the fuse controlling the vehicle's OBD port is blown and needs replacement. The OBD port may have its own fuse or share one with accessories like cigarette lighters or wipers.

Problem: The check engine light remains on after attempting to clear it.

Solution: Try clearing the code with the vehicle running, and then with the vehicle in ACC mode but not running. Some codes are "instant" and will re-appear immediately if the underlying problem is not fixed. In such cases, the light will not stay off.

Problem: The OBD reader is not reading ABS, SRS, VSC, Oil Change, or Maintenance lights.

Solution: As an OBDII reader, this device can only read and clear the check engine light. It cannot assist with other vehicle systems. For these other lights, a different tool or a professional repair shop is required.
