Installation Steps
- Step 1: Power Off
Turn off the computer before installing the cooler. Disconnect the power cable from the wall outlet.
- Step 2: Attach Fan to Heatsink
Attach the fan (A) to the heatsink using the provided clips. The arrows indicate the direction of airflow.
- Step 3: Prepare Motherboard
For Intel LGA 1366 / 1700 / 1200 / 115X sockets, use mounting brackets B and E. For Intel LGA 2066 / 2011 / 2011-3 sockets, use mounting brackets C and E. For AMD sockets (AM4/AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2/FM2+/FM2/FM1), remove the stock AMD top mounting bracket and use mounting brackets D and E.
- Step 4: Apply Thermal Paste
Apply a small amount of thermal paste (G) to the center of the CPU.
- Step 5: Mount the Cooler (Intel LGA 1366/1700/1200/115X)
Place the cooler assembly onto the motherboard. Align the screws with the mounting bracket holes. Secure the cooler using screws (F).
- Step 5: Mount the Cooler (Intel LGA 2066/2011/2011-3)
Place the cooler assembly onto the motherboard. Align the screws with the mounting bracket holes. Secure the cooler using screws (F).
- Step 5: Mount the Cooler (AMD)
Place the cooler assembly onto the motherboard. Align the screws with the mounting bracket holes. Secure the cooler using screws (F).
- Step 6: Connect Fan Cable
Connect the fan cable (A) to the CPU_FAN header on the motherboard.
- Step 7: Final Check
Ensure the cooler is firmly attached and making proper contact with the CPU. The diagram shows a correct (circle with checkmark) and incorrect (cross) mounting orientation.
- Step 8: RGB Lighting (Optional)
If your motherboard has a 5V 3-Pin addressable RGB header, you can customize the RGB lighting using motherboard manufacturer sync software. The BOREAS E1-410 supports 5V addressable RGB headers. Ensure you connect to the correct header (e.g., ADD_HEADER, +5V D G). Incorrect connection to a 12V RGB header is not supported.
- Supported RGB Sync Software: ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light Sync, ASRock Polychrome Sync, GIGABYTE RGB Fusion Ready, BIOSTAR Vivid LED DJ.
- Step 9: Power On
Turn on the computer after completing the installation.
