( 21) · For the dimensions of this unit ( 21) Attaching and removing the speaker nets The speaker nets protect the speaker units from dust. Use the magnets to fix the speaker nets to the speakers. Magnets (inside) (4) Speaker net (rear) Magnets (4) · Attach the speaker nets so that they fully cover the speaker units. · Attach the speaker nets at the positions to meet the magnets and there is no specific direction of up and down, left and right. · The superior sound quality can be delivered when playing back without the speaker nets. · When carrying this unit, do not hold the speaker net. To dispose of or transfer this unit · Before disposing of or transferring this unit, be sure to erase all the recorded information by restoring the settings to factory default (above). · Before you dispose of or transfer this unit to a third party, be sure to log out of your music streaming services accounts to prevent unauthorised use of your accounts. About this unit Adjusting with the Space Tune function You can adjust the sound quality automatically according to the installation location (near the wall or the corner of the room). Press and hold [S.TUNE AUTO] for 2 seconds to start the sound adjustment. · A test tone outputs quite big while the measurement is in progress. · The progress of the adjustment is indicated by the blinking of the LED indicator. When the adjustment is complete, a beep sounds 2 times, and all the LED indicators on the top of this unit light up for 2 seconds. · If the adjustment fails, a beep sounds 3 times, and all the LED indicators on the front/top of this unit blink for 3 seconds. Press and hold [S.TUNE AUTO] for 2 seconds to set the adjustment again. · With the volume set to minimum, press and hold the [-] button of the volume control on this unit, then press [S.TUNE AUTO] to disable the Space Tune function. · You can select the preset Space Tune function from the "Technics Audio Center" app. Notes on use To protect the speakers from damage caused by excessive input, observe the following precautions: · Reduce the volume in the following cases to avoid damage: - When playing distorted sound. - When the speakers are receiving howling from a microphone or record player, noise from FM broadcasts, or continuous signals from an oscillator, test disc, or electronic instrument. - When adjusting the sound quality. · You can damage your speakers and shorten their useful life if you play sound at high levels over extended periods. · English (07) 07 About this unit (Continued) Using "Technics Audio Center" If you install the dedicated app "Technics Audio Center" (free of charge) on your tablet/ smartphone, you can stream music files from the device on your network to this unit and configure the settings of sound quality, etc. · You can set up the sound adjustment and other settings from the "Technics Audio Center" app. · For details, visit: www.technics.com/support/ · This application is subject to change or be discontinued with notice. Unit care Pull out the AC mains lead from the socket before maintenance. Top / Rear of this unit · Clean this unit with a soft cloth. · When dirt is heavy, wring a wet cloth tightly to wipe the dirt, and then wipe it with a soft cloth. · Do not use solvents including benzine, thinner, alcohol, kitchen detergent, chemical wiper, etc. Doing so may cause the exterior case to be deformed or the coating to come off. Front/Left and Right Sides (Suede-Like Artificial Leather) · Dampen a soft, clean cloth with lukewarm water (approximately 40 °C), wring it out tightly, and gently pat the surface to remove stains. After cleaning, smooth the surface using a soft, dry brush. Note · Avoid vigorous rubbing as it may cause discoloration or damage to the surface. · If stains persist after patting, lightly brush the surface to remove them. Firmware updates Occasionally, Panasonic may release updated firmware for this unit that may add or improve the way a feature operates. These updates are available free of charge. · For the update information, refer to the following website. www.technics.com/support/firmware/ To restore all the settings to the factory defaults 1 Disconnect the AC mains lead from the primary speaker. · Wait 30 seconds before you continue with step 2. 2 While you press and hold [ ] on the primary speaker, connect the AC mains lead again. · Keep holding down [ ] until the two LED indicators at the left end light up and a beep sounds. 3 Release [ ]. · The progress of the initialisation is indicated by the blinking of the LED indicator. When initialisation is complete, a beep sounds 2 times, and all the LED indicators on the top of this unit light up for 2 seconds. · All the settings are set back to the factory default except wireless connection information between primary and secondary speakers. 08 (08) This unit (front) Primary Control reference guide Secondary 01 Speaker unit (Coaxial 2-way unit) 02 Bass reflex port 03 Power indicator · Blue: The unit is on. · Off: The unit is in standby mode. 04 Remote control signal sensor · Reception distance: Within approx. 7 m directly in front · Reception angle: Approx. 30° left and right 05 LED indicator The LED indicators on this unit light up in the following manner to indicate the current status. Off On Blinking Softly flickering 06 Switch the input source · Each time you press the switch, a beep sound will be heard. (You can turn the beep sound on/off from the "Technics Audio Center" app.) 07 [ ] Standby/on button · Press to switch the unit from on to standby mode or vice versa. In standby mode, the unit is still consuming a small amount of power. 08 Mute the sound · Press again to cancel. Muting is also cancelled when you adjust the volume or when you turn the unit to standby. 09 Built-in microphone (for measurement) 10 Adjust the volume · LED indicators light up from 1 (minimum) to 7 (maximum) to show the current volume level when adjusting the volume or turning this unit on. (The LED indicators blink while this unit is muted.) English (09) 09 Control reference guide (Continued) This unit (rear) Primary Secondary 01 P/S LINK terminal (P/S LINK) Use for the wired connection between primary and secondary speakers. ( 12) 02 Analogue audio output terminal (SUBWOOFER OUT) You can connect the subwoofer, etc. with analogue audio cable (not supplied) to output the analogue audio signals. · You can set up the output from SUBWOOFER OUT from the "Technics Audio Center" app. (The factory default is "On".) 03 P/S CONNECT button Use for the manual connection between the primary and secondary speakers if the wireless connection is not established automatically. ( 12) 04 L/R ASSIGN switch · When switching the assignment (L/R) of primary speaker, the secondary speaker is automatically assigned to the opposite channel. ( 12) 05 HDMI terminal (HDMI ARC) You can connect the HDMI equipment with ARC function (TV, etc.) with HDMI cable (not supplied) to this unit and play back music. ( 13) · Please use Premium High Speed HDMI cable. 10 (10) 06 USB-C terminal (USB-C) You can connect the PC, etc. or another device with USB 2.0 cable (not supplied) to this unit and play back music. ( 13) 07 LAN terminal ( 16) 08 Optical digital input terminal (OPT IN) You can connect a digital audio output device, etc. with optical digital audio cable (not supplied) and play back music. ( 12) 09 AC IN terminal ( ) ( 14) 10 Analogue audio input terminal (AUX) You can connect an analogue audio output device with analogue audio cable (not supplied) to this unit and play back music. ( 14) 11 Analogue audio input terminals (PHONO) You can connect the turntable with PHONO cable (not supplied) to this unit and play back music. ( 14) · Please use the cable less than 3 m. 12 PHONO EARTH terminal ( 14) · For connecting the ground wire of a turntable. Remote control 01 [ ]: Standby/on switch · Press to switch the unit from on to standby mode or vice versa. In standby mode, the unit is still consuming a small amount of power. 02 [DIMMER]: Adjust the brightness of the LED indicator · The LED indicators all turn off when pressing and holding [DIMMER] for 4 seconds. 03 [NET]/[ -PAIRING]/[OPT]/[HDMI]/[USB]/ [AUX]/[PHONO]: Switch the input source ( 18, 19) 04 Start the adjustment with the Space Tune function ( 07) 05 Playback operation buttons 06 [-VOL+]: Adjust the volume · LED indicator lights 1 (min) to 7 (max) according to the current volume when adjusting the volume. [MUTE]: Mute the sound · Press again to cancel. Muting is also cancelled when you adjust the volume or when you turn the unit to standby. English Using the remote control 1 2 Note · Insert the battery so the terminals ( and ) match those in the remote control. · Point it at the remote control signal sensor on this unit. ( 09) · Keep the batteries out of reach of children to prevent swallowing. R03/LR03, AAA (Alkaline or manganese batteries) (11) 11 Basic Connections Speaker settings Speaker Assignments (L/R) Once the connection is established, adjust the speaker assignments. (The primary speaker is factory-assigned to R by default.) · When switching the assignment (L/R) of primary speaker, the secondary speaker is automatically assigned to the opposite channel. · After changing the speaker assignment (L/R), turn this unit off and then on again. Speaker connection When you connect AC mains lead to this unit without the Speaker Link cable connected, the speakers are automatically connected wirelessly. Note · If the connection fails, the LED indicator on the front will blink every 3 seconds (3 times). Turn this unit off and on to reconnect the speakers. If the speakers still cannot connect, press and hold the PS CONNECT button of the primary speaker for 2 seconds to connect manually. · For higher sound quality or if the connection is unstable causing noise or interrupting sound on the secondary speaker, use a wired connection with the supplied speaker link cable. Speaker Link cable (supplied) · The maximum sampling rate is 192 kHz for a wired connection and 96 kHz for a wireless connection. Digital audio output device connection Optical digital audio cable (not supplied) Digital audio output device · When enjoying video contents with this function, the video and audio output may not be synchronised. · The digital audio input terminals of this unit can only detect the following linear PCM signals. For details, refer to the operating instructions of the connected device. - Sampling frequency: 32/44.1/48/88.2/96 kHz - Number of quantisation bits: 16/24 bit 12 (12) Connecting HDMI equipment with ARC function (TV, etc.) HDMI cable (not supplied) TV, etc. · Use Premium High Speed HDMI cables when connecting to peripheral devices. · Connect this unit to the HDMI input terminal which has ARC (Audio Return Channel) function. · Set the audio output from TV speakers to Off. For details, refer to the operating instructions of the TV. Note · Linear PCM signal is only available for ARC function. · Do not input the signals other than linear PCM signal, otherwise it may cause noise or damage. · For the equipment does not support ARC function, set "HDMI ARC" to "Off" from the "Technics Audio Center" app. · The volume may be lower depending on the connected TV. Connecting PC, etc. Basic Type C Connector USB 2.0 cable (not supplied) PC, etc. Note · The USB-C terminal of this unit is for data transfer only and does not support charging USB devices. AC IN terminal PHONO earth lead (not supplied) PHONO cable (not supplied) Analogue audio cable (3.5 mm) (not supplied) Portable audio player, etc. Turntable · When connecting a turntable with a built- in PHONO equalizer, turn the equalizer of turntable off or connect the PHONO cable to the analogue audio input terminals (AUX) of this unit. · When connecting a turntable with a PHONO earth lead, connect the PHONO earth lead to the PHONO EARTH terminal of this unit. Note · Tighten the PHONO EARTH terminal using a Phillips head screwdriver. 14 (14) AC mains lead (supplied) To a household mains socket · Use only the supplied AC mains lead. · Do not connect the AC mains lead until all other connections are complete. · Insert the plugs of the cables to be connected all the way in. · Do not bend cables at sharp angles. · Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi®) setting may start when this unit is turned on and the LED indicator on the top (NET) of this unit blink. ( 16) · If the network function is not used, you can disable the Wi-Fi settings by pressing and holding [NET] on this unit, and this unit always switches to the last selected input when this unit is turned on. If you stop the Wi-Fi setting, switch the input source by pressing touch switch on the top of this unit. · The LED indicator does not blink when a LAN cable is connected. ( 16) Note · When this unit is turned on, the power indicator of the secondary speaker lights up first, and when this unit is turned off, the power indicator of the secondary speaker turns off first. · This unit consumes a small amount of AC power ( 21) even when the unit is in standby mode. Remove the plug from the main electrical outlet if you will not be using the unit for an extended period of time. Place the unit so the plug can be easily removed. Network settings You can stream online music services or music files from your smartphone/tablet to this unit. To use these features, this system must join the same internet-connected network as the compatible device. Basic English This unit can be connected to a router using a LAN cable or built-in Wi-Fi®. For a stable connection to the network, a wired LAN connection is recommended. Note · When the firmware for this unit is available, the LED indicator on the front of the primary speaker softly flickers every 10 seconds for 1 second each time. - For the update information, refer to the following website. www.technics.com/support/firmware/ Softly flickering Preparation If you install the "Technics Audio Center" app on your smartphone/tablet, you can set up a connection using the application. · When using Chromecast-enabled apps to play music on this unit, set up a connection using the "Technics Audio Center" app and a Google Assistant-enabled device. · When using AirPlay to play music on this unit, add the product to Home in the Apple Home app. Adding this unit to the network via Apple Home app will also allow the user to stream audio using Siri. · Make sure that the Wi-Fi function and Bluetooth® function are activated on your smartphones/tablet. 1 Install the "Technics Audio Center" app on your smartphone/tablet. ( 08) 2 Connect your smartphone/tablet to the same network as this unit before setting. · Make sure that the network is connected to the Internet.
