Trouble Shooting

1. Network Connection Issues:

  • Confirm PC can access the internet on the same network.
  • Check for DHCP server availability or static IP configuration.
  • Ensure firewall is not blocking ports.
  • Some access points restrict connections to registered MAC addresses. Add the radio's MAC address (found via Information Center > System Information > Wireless Info) to your access point's allowed list.
  • Verify correct WEP/WPA key or passphrase is entered (case-sensitive).
  • If your wireless network name (ESSID) is hidden, manually enter it under Configuration > Network > Manual Configuration > Wireless > Enter ESSID.

2. Station Playback Issues:

  • Station may not be broadcasting or is in a different time zone.
  • Server may be overloaded or at maximum listener capacity.
  • Station may no longer be broadcasting.
  • The link on the radio might be outdated (updates daily).
  • Slow internet connection between the server and your network. Try playing via the broadcaster's website on a PC. If it works on PC but not radio, contact customer service. Try connecting a laptop to see if it can find the station.

3. UPnP Scan Issues:

  • Ensure connection to the wireless access point.
  • Check PC firewall settings that might block shared files.
  • Consult firewall manual for third-party firewalls (e.g., Norton, Zone Alarm).
  • If PC is on a managed network, it might need to be set as a server Workgroup.

4. Cannot Find Folders on PC for Music Playback:

  • Firewall may be preventing access to shared folders. Temporarily disable firewalls like Norton for testing. If this resolves the issue, configure the firewall to allow file sharing.
  • Note: Do not leave firewalls disabled if they are required for system security.

5. Folder Sharing Option Not Highlighted:

Ensure simple file sharing is enabled.

Scan Error:

May occur if Windows file sharing application times out, especially on wireless connections. Reconnecting the PC via cable can increase scanning speed.

Playlists:

Playlists must be in `.m3u` format and stored with media content. Windows Media Player can create these.

6. Internet Radio Keeps Re-buffering:

  • High error rate or intermittent broadband connection. Check DSL modem.

7. What is Buffering?:

The player downloads a small amount of the stream before playing to fill gaps caused by internet or network busyness. If a stream is blocked or congested, check internet connection speed.
