Important Information

This cooker is designed for domestic applications and is NOT suitable for commercial applications. For clarification, contact Glem Gas Australasia. Installation must be performed by a qualified and licensed installer. Failure to retain proof of correct installation may void the warranty and incur service costs. If the appliance is damaged, do not install it; call 1300 307 917 for assistance. Glem Gas Australasia emphasizes that most service calls are due to incorrect installation or use. These cookers are designed for Australian kitchens; use for other purposes may increase the chance of performance issues.

Model Number Location: Details are on the inside of the flap covering a compartment under the oven, or on 53cm cookers, on a label next to the oven cavity above the door seal or on the rear of the cooker.

Glem Gas & Emilia cookers are manufactured in Modena, Italy, and meet Australian safety standards: AS/NZS 5623, AS/NZS 60335-1, AS/NZS 60335-2-6, and AS/NZS 1044 Electromagnetic Compatibility Requirements. Certain stainless steel parts can become very hot; a cooling fan operates during and after cooking. If concerned about surrounding surfaces, install insulating material like fibre sheet between cupboards and the cooker. The cooker is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons without proper training.

First Time Use

Before connecting gas and electrical supply, remove all packing material and protective plastic film from the interior and exterior of the cooker. Clean the oven interior with soap and water. Run the empty oven on maximum for 1 hour to eliminate manufacturing residues; open windows to ventilate. Do not spray aerosols near the cooker, allow children to use it, touch hot surfaces, store flammable materials in or under it, or keep it unclean. This cooker is not to be used as a space heater. If the cooker fails to operate correctly, call Glem Gas Australasia or their appointed agent; do not attempt repairs yourself. Do not modify the appliance. Do not install if damaged. Not for use in marine craft, caravans, or mobile homes. Ensure children are supervised during use as the appliance becomes hot. Switch off before replacing the oven lamp to avoid electric shock. Accessible parts become hot; keep children away. The appliance is not intended for operation by external timers or remote control systems. Do not use a steam cleaner. Avoid abrasive cleaners or sharp metal scrapers on the oven glass door. If installed on a base, prevent slipping. Ensure all-pole disconnection is accessible for restricted electrical supply. Do not install behind a decorative door. Do not store items on the cooking surface. Cooking processes must be supervised. Unattended cooking with fat or oil can be dangerous and may result in fire.

Moving the Cooker

Always use two people to move the cooker. Be aware of sharp edges and corners. Do not lift by the handle; open the door and hold the top of the oven cavity. Ensure the door does not slam shut on your hand. Do not drag or slide the cooker, as this may distort the legs and cause imbalance. Take care not to slide the cooker.

Installing the Adjustable Legs

Adjustable height legs need to be fitted prior to installation. Some models have legs that screw in, others use a keying system. Measure the benchtop height and pre-adjust legs so the cooker is 10 mm above the bench. Lay the cooker on its back (with assistance and after removing burner components) on its packaging to install legs easily. Lift the cooker onto all four legs.

Installing the Anti Tilt Brackets

Adjust the legs to the desired level. Measure the distance (Height H) from the top of the rear covering panel to the floor. Mark the same height on the wall. Mark the centre of the cooker at this height on the wall. Mount the two anti-tilt brackets onto the wall 150 mm either side of the centre mark. Slide the cooker into position so the rear panel slides under the brackets. The brackets prevent the cooker from tilting forward.

Important Warnings Before Using the Cooker

Check for damage upon unpacking and contact Glem Gas Australasia on 1300 307 917 if unsure. Dispose of packaging appropriately. Cookers are hot; children should not play with the cooker. For safe use: keep children away from the glass oven door, do not let them sit on or play with the door, do not use the door as a stool, do not put weight on an open door, do not line oven walls or floor with foil, do not place trays on the oven floor during cooking, do not store flammable materials in the storage compartment, avoid loose-fitting garments, grill with the door closed, turn pan handles inwards, use the correct pan size, and use pot holder gloves when touching cool parts. Harsh detergents and acids can cause rust spots on stainless steel; use warm water and a soft cloth. Glem Gas Australasia Pty. Ltd. is not responsible for damage caused by inappropriate use. Attach the duplicate data plate to an adjacent cupboard for easy access. Record model and serial number.

Oven Door Removal and Replacement

To remove the oven door, open it fully, rotate the hinge locking tab (using a finger or small screwdriver), and repeat on each hinge. Crouch in front of the door, pull it away from the cooker at the bottom while it's partly open (150mm at the top), then lift the door away. To refit, hold the door at an angle with a 150mm gap at the top. Hook the hinges in first, ensuring the groove sits on the edge of the slots. Fully open the door to unlock hinges, then close. If it doesn't close correctly, fully open and relock hinges. Do not force the door.

Identifying the Symbols on the Control Panel

Symbols on the control panel identify functions for knobs and buttons. The table lists symbols for burners (left/right front/rear, centre), oven temp control, clock/timer, oven function selector, electric oven control, gas oven control, grill button, oven light, and gas oven fan button.

Before Using for the First Time

Remove all packing material, plastic film, and literature. Ensure all plastic, including protective coatings on trays, is removed. Clean the oven interior and accessories with soap and water. Switch the empty oven on to maximum for 1 hour to eliminate residues; open windows for ventilation. The oven has 3 or 4 guides for positioning trays; some models have a telescopic runner. Included are two oven shelves, a grill tray, and a rack insert. Some models include an Air Fryer basket.

Operation of the Gas Cooktop

Burners offer flexibility for different cooking tasks and have flame failure safety devices. To ignite, depress the control knob and rotate anti-clockwise to high flame. Hold for a few seconds to activate the safety valve. In case of ignition malfunction or power failure, use a match. Ensure burner caps are aligned and burners are dry. Be careful with the ceramic sparker. Burner assembly parts must be correctly aligned.

Operating the Gas Oven

The gas oven has a thermostat for constant temperature, electronic spark ignition, and a safety shut-off device. To light, open the oven door, remove the grill tray (unless required for cooking). Press and turn the oven control knob anti-clockwise to maximum heating. Electronic ignition activates automatically. Keep the knob depressed for 15 seconds after the flame lights. View the burner flame through the hole in the base panel. For ignition malfunction, use a match. If electronic ignition fails on first use, light manually at 200 degrees for 20 minutes to remove moisture, then try electronic ignition again. Call 1300 307 917 for assistance. New ovens may have an initial odour that dissipates. Avoid touching the heating element. Do not use polyunsaturated oils, as they cause difficult-to-remove deposits. Do not use a steam cleaner. Avoid strong detergents or acids, which can cause rust spotting; use warm water. Call 1300 307 917 for cleaning advice.

Pre Heating the Gas Oven

After switching on the oven, keep the door open for a minute, then close gently. Set the oven knob to the required temperature and wait about 20 minutes before adding food. Gas ovens heat rapidly, reaching temperature within 20 minutes. Gas oven models do not have a temperature indicator light. To remove/install oven shelves, slide them forward, tilt up at the front, and lift clear. Reverse for installation. Ensure shelves are correctly installed to prevent sliding out. Shelf positions and operating temperatures may vary; it takes time to become familiar with your new oven.

Electric Grilling Element

All Emilia and Glem cookers have an electric grill. The oven door must be closed during grilling. Wait a few minutes after the oven has been on before switching on the grill. The grill is an infrared type with an indicator light. Use a shelf with a drip tray filled with water to reduce smoke and keep food moist. On gas ovens, the electric grill is controlled by a separate button or knob and operates at a fixed temperature; vary grill tray height for intensity. On electric ovens, select the grill function via the oven function selector knob or a separate button. Preheat the grill for 3 minutes. Never leave the kitchen while grilling. An override sensor shuts off the grill in case of flare-ups. Black baking dishes transfer heat differently than silver ones; try silver trays if cakes burn on the bottom.

IMPORTANT: Never cook on the bottom floor of the oven or line it with foil.

Electric Oven Functions

Multifunction Electric Oven: Remove the grill tray. Choose a function using the selector knob. On some models, ovens are fan-forced only. Rotate the thermostat knob to the desired temperature. Wait for the thermostat indicator light to go off, indicating the oven has reached temperature. Introduce food. Selecting the best oven function: Fan forced is good for rapid heat-up and multi-shelf cooking. Classic bake (top and bottom elements) is good for single-level cooking.

Thermostat Indicator light: Shows heating cycles. Preheating is required for Static and fan forced modes. Minimize opening the oven door to maintain temperature.

Using the Timers

Type 1 Electronic Timer: To set the clock, push the SET button, then (+) or (−) buttons. The time of day sets after 10 seconds. Change beep volume with the (−) button. The timer can be set for 99 minutes maximum, 10 seconds minimum. Push (+) or (−) to set time. The timer will beep when time elapses; it does not switch off the oven. Push the button to switch off.

Type 2 Electronic Timer: Similar to Type 1, with SET, (+), and (−) buttons for clock and timer settings. The timer will beep when time elapses; push the SET button to switch off.

Mechanical Timer: Rotate dial to set time. A bell rings at the end of the period; it does not switch off the oven.

Air Fryer Basket: Uses hot air for even cooking. Select fan forced function on electric ovens, or oven fan on gas ovens. Cooks frozen foods like fries and fish fillets. Follow packet directions. Shake the basket mid-cycle. Use the middle shelf and place the grill tray below to catch crumbs. Experiment with vegetables and steam.

Suggested Shelf Positions - Temperatures & Cooking Times

This table provides guidelines for shelf positions, temperatures (Celsius), and cooking times for various dishes including cakes, pastries, bread, baked pasta, meats, and poultry. It also includes information on static vs. fan oven cooking.

Oven Operation Notes

Cooking information is a guideline; adjust to personal preference. Times do not include preheating. Information in brackets indicates shelf use for multiple dishes. Experimentation is key to mastering oven use. When cooking on different shelves, place all containers in the centre. Baking Trouble Shooting:

Doppio Ovens: An Australian innovation allowing electric or gas operation for optimal cooking. Gas provides moist heat (good for roasting), while electricity provides drier heat (good for pastries). Experiment to find the best results. Gas and electric power cannot be used simultaneously.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Do not use strong detergents on stainless steel; they can cause marks. Oven cleaners are for internal liners only. Avoid wetting ignitors. Keep the oven and hob clean to prevent fire risks. Wipe down after each use. Have the cooker checked by an authorized service technician every 3-4 years. Cleaning Stainless Steel: Use stainless steel cleaners and protectors. Avoid gritty sponges. Soak stubborn stains in hot water. Acidic materials like milk, vinegar, or citrus juice can damage surfaces; wipe spills immediately. Oven Cleaning: Clean spills immediately to prevent permanent damage. Use a non-caustic oven cleaner. Do not use abrasive scourers. Wipe with warm soapy water while the oven is still warm. Removal of side shelf supports aids cleaning. Gas Burners: Remove and clean burner parts in hot soapy water. Dry cast iron burner covers immediately to prevent rusting. Clean enamelled trivets similarly. Knobs and Control Panel: Remove knobs to clean behind them. Clean the stainless steel panel with a damp cloth; avoid abrasives. Oven Door: Clean the outer glass with glass cleaner. Soapy water can be used but may leave streaks. Do not use abrasive cleaners on the aluminium door frame. Removal of Side Shelf Supports: Flex the bottom rail off the support and unhook at the top. Grill/Top Element: Never spray with detergents. Use a damp cloth and bottle brush for the oven roof and element. Dry thoroughly after cleaning. Clean regularly to prevent build-up of fats.

Installation Instructions - Licensed qualified installers only

Warranty is void if not installed by a licensed gas fitter. Owner's responsibility to ensure installer is licensed. Faulty installations may not be serviced and may incur a call-out fee. Installation must comply with manufacturer's instructions, local gas fitting regulations, building codes, electrical wiring regulations, and AS/NZS5601. The cooker must be installed and serviced by a qualified technician. A certificate of compliance must be supplied. Remove all packaging. Ensure pipes/hoses have slack for movement. Fit anti-tilt brackets. Do not lift or pull by the oven handle. Service and check every 3-4 years. Minimum Clearances: Walls must be non-combustible material (e.g., ceramic tiles). Minimum clearance from cooktop to side wall must be 200mm. Kitchen Cabinet Warning: Incorrect cabinet material or clearances can cause damage due to heat transfer. Adjacent surfaces must withstand normal heat transfer and heat released from the open oven door. GlemGas is not responsible for cabinet damage due to incorrect installation. If in doubt, install a heat shield.

Rangehoods

Rangehoods and exhaust fans must be installed according to manufacturer's instructions. Install not lower than 650mm above the cooktop.

Ventilation Requirements for Gas Cookers

Do not install in rooms less than 5.6 cubic metres. For rooms between 5.6 and 11.2 cubic metres, provide permanent ventilation. Above 11.2 cubic metres, no special provision is needed unless other gas appliances are in the same room. Ventilation is always required in cellars or basements. The manufacturer is not liable for damage due to non-compliance.

Dimension Details

  1. Location of gas inlet: Bottom rear of upright cooker, 60 mm from right hand side, 400 mm from the bottom plus leg height.
  2. Electrical connection: Flexible cord and plug. Models >2400W require a 15 amp connection.
  3. Overall dimensions: Depth 600 mm. Height over cooktop 750 or 760 mm. Height over splashback 810 or 820 mm.
  4. Width of cooker models: 530 mm (534 series), 598 mm (664 series), 698 mm (765 series), 798 mm (865 series), 898 mm (965 series).

Add height of legs to overall dimensions. Adjustable legs add up to 160 mm (60-90 cm cookers) or 150 mm (53 cm cookers). Legs adjust by rotating the lower portion. Refer to Anti Tilt Brackets section. Glem Gas Australasia Pty Ltd and its agents are not responsible for installation not according to instructions.

Installation - Electrical Connection

The electrical supply must be 240 Volt 50 Hz. The dwelling's fuse and wiring must support the appliance load. The 3-pin plug must be easily accessible. The cooker must be earthed. The flexible cord must not be subject to direct heat and must be positioned so its temperature does not exceed 75°C. If a power socket needs installation/relocation, it must be done by a licensed electrician.

Installation - Gas Connection

Instructions are for Authorised Persons only. The cooker is manufactured with Natural Gas injectors; an LPG conversion kit is supplied. Comply with local gas and electrical authorities and AS/NZS5601. Gas inlet fitting is 1/2" BSP (male) thread. Approved for hose connection with AS5601 clause 6.10.1.9. Use approved flexible hose (10mm ID, class B or D, 1-1.2m long). Hose must not be subject to abrasion, kinking, or deformation, and must be inspectable. Use compatible unions and test for leaks. Fixed consumer gas supply outlet should be at the same height as the cooker connection point, pointing downwards and 150 mm to the side. Ensure the safety chain is installed correctly. For natural gas, test point pressure should be 1.00 kPa with wok burner at maximum. For LPG, use an AGA approved regulator for 2.75 kPa supply pressure, with test point pressure adjusted to 2.75 kPa. An isolating valve and union are recommended for servicing. Check connections are gas tight with soapy water. Never use a naked flame to check for leaks. Regulator placement: Locate the Natural Gas regulator close to the gas inlet and away from cooker heat. Regulator failure due to heat is not covered under warranty. Instruct the customer on safe operation.

Conversion to Operate on ULPG

This must be done by a licensed Gas Fitter. The conversion kit includes replacement injectors for all burners, an oven burner, a test point for gas pressure, and a replacement label. ULPG installations have no gas regulator requirement as pressure is regulated at the bottle (2.75 Kpa). Use a 7 mm socket to remove/replace injectors; refer to the data plate for injector sizes. Run each burner on minimum flame setting and adjust to ensure the flame is not extinguished by air drafts. Screw the bypass screw on the oven thermostat clockwise. Remember to change the oven injector on gas ovens. Yellow flame or black marks indicate incorrect conversion, voiding the warranty. All conversions must be done by a licensed gas fitter. Standard plumbers Teflon tape should not be used; use appropriate gas sealing tape.

Gas Checks and Adjustments - Low Flame Setting: Check low flame for each hob burner and oven burner. Turn control to minimum, remove knob. Insert screwdriver into adjusting screw (side of gascock shaft for hob, left of thermostat shaft for oven). Turn clockwise to decrease flame, anticlockwise to increase. Adjust for a minimum, stable, clear flame that is not extinguished by air drafts.

Gas Injector Selection Table

This table provides injector diameter (Inj. Diam.), MJ/h, and Gas Press. for Natural Gas and ULPG for various cooktop burners (Wok, Large/Fish, Medium, Small) and oven burners (53/60/70cm, 80cm, 90cm).

Final Check

Operate all burners on high and low flames, checking for proper ignition and stable flame. Abnormalities include yellow tipping, sooting, failure to ignite or stay alight, or electrodes clicking. If the cooker fails to operate correctly, contact your local service agent. Do not attempt repairs yourself. Gas checks and adjustments - igniter operation: Check igniter and burner alight. If issues, disconnect power and check electrical connections. Gas checks and adjustments - pressure adjustment: Shut off gas. Remove sealing screw from regulator test point. Attach manometer hose. Turn gas back on, light largest and smallest burners at maximum. Check and adjust pressure at regulator. For propane, adjust at the cylinder. Refit sealing screw. NOTE: Cooker must be installed by a licensed gas fitter. Written proof is required for warranty. Use appropriate gas sealing tape.
