Connecting Your MagniFi Soundbar to Your TV

For optimal audio quality, connect the optical audio output of your TV to the optical input on the back of the soundbar. If your TV does not have an optical output, you can use the optical output from your DVD player or cable/satellite box. Connect other audio sources to the remaining bar input.

Diagram Description: A diagram shows the rear panel of a TV with an 'TV OPT OUT' port and the rear panel of the soundbar with an 'OPT IN' port. An optical cable is shown connecting these two ports.

Connecting Your Subwoofer

Your subwoofer receives a wireless audio signal from the soundbar. Simply plug in the power cord and ensure the main power switch is ON.

Syncing the Bar and Wireless Subwoofer

The MagniFi Soundbar and wireless subwoofer are preset to work together. If the subwoofer stops receiving an audio signal, follow these instructions to re-establish the connection:

  1. Turn off the subwoofer's AC Mains switch.
  2. Press and hold the SYNC button on the back of the soundbar for three (3) seconds.
  3. The LED on the back of the soundbar will blink, indicating it is ready to connect.
  4. Turn on the subwoofer's AC Mains switch. When the subwoofer LED turns solid green, the bar and subwoofer are connected and ready to use.

Note: If your soundbar is mounted to the wall, it will need to be removed for this procedure.

LED User Interface

Seven LEDs behind the soundbar grille communicate the selected source (including Movie and Music modes), power state, master, voice and bass volumes, mute status, Dolby Digital detection, and learning mode.

Diagram Description: A diagram shows the front of the soundbar with a row of seven LED indicator lights.

VoiceAdjust Technology

Your MagniFi Soundbar has a dedicated center channel, controllable from either the bar or the remote. Adjusting the center channel volume allows for fine-tuning dialogue to be more intelligible.

Bluetooth® Wireless Technology

To use the Bluetooth source, first pair your device with the soundbar. This pairing process is only needed once. After pairing, select "Polk MagniFi" from your device list to connect. The soundbar can store up to 8 Bluetooth devices. If more than 7 devices are paired after yours, your device may be removed from the memory list.

NFC (Near Field Communication)

The Polk MagniFi is equipped with NFC, located to the right of the buttons, for convenient pairing by simply touching your Bluetooth device to the NFC symbol.

IR Remote Learning

For your soundbar to respond to your remote control, you MUST FIRST program the bar to respond to your television's original IR (Infra-Red) remote. RF (Radio Frequency) remotes are not compatible. Other remotes (cable, satellite) can be programmed after the bar is set up to respond to the TV's IR remote.

Note: If the bar fails to learn certain IR remote codes, the LED will blink red and exit learn mode. Repeat steps 1-3 carefully.

Learning Procedure:

  1. Enter learn mode by pressing and holding the SOURCE button for 3 seconds.
  2. Press the VOLUME UP button.
  3. Press the desired function button on your TV remote repeatedly. The soundbar's LEDs will flash immediately after each press, then flash white 3 times within 1 second, and finally hold solid for 2 seconds to confirm success.

Diagram Description: A diagram illustrates the IR remote learning process: Step 1 shows pressing the soundbar's SOURCE button. Step 2 shows pressing the soundbar's VOLUME UP button. Step 3 shows pressing a button on a TV remote, with soundbar LEDs indicating progress.

Code Erasing Procedure:

To erase programmed remote control codes, press and hold the SOURCE key for approximately 10 seconds while the unit is in standby mode. The LEDs will flash rapidly, alternating amber/white 3 times per second for 2 seconds. Successful erasure is indicated when the sequence completes.

Remote Battery Replacement

  1. Insert a pin into the hole, then press and push the battery cover outward to open.
  2. Install a new CR2032 battery, following the correct orientation (observe the (+) and (−) signs on the remote control).
  3. Slide the battery cover back into place.

Diagram Description: A diagram shows the remote control's battery compartment. It illustrates inserting a pin to release the cover, installing a CR2032 battery with correct polarity, and sliding the cover back.
