GIGABYTE BIOS Setup (Intel® 600 Series)
BIOS Setup Overview
The BIOS (Basic Input and Output System) stores hardware parameters in the motherboard's CMOS. It manages the Power-On Self-Test (POST) during startup, saves system parameters, and loads the operating system. The BIOS Setup program allows users to modify basic system configurations and activate features. A motherboard battery powers the CMOS when the system is off.
To access BIOS Setup, press the <Delete> key during POST. BIOS can be upgraded using GIGABYTE's Q-Flash or @BIOS utilities. Flashing the BIOS is potentially risky; it is recommended only if experiencing issues. Altering default settings without need can lead to system instability or failure to boot. In such cases, clearing CMOS values can reset the board to defaults.
Startup Screen
The initial screen displayed during boot may vary by motherboard. Key function keys available at startup include:
- <DEL>: Enters BIOS SETUP or Q-FLASH utility.
