Model: DM-WFC-4R

Brand: DSE

What did you purchase

The DM-WFC-4R WiFi remote controls are devices that enable remote control via the Internet through Wi-Fi to any electrical device. You can connect these remote controls to your Wi-Fi network and operate them as desired using the included app, via local Wi-Fi connection or over the Internet when away from home. This manual explains how to install and configure these devices.

Electrical Connection DM-WFC-4R

The DM-WFC-4R is an electronic board featuring 4 Normally Open/Normally Closed (NO/NC) relays controllable via Wi-Fi. The relays can operate in a stable (ON/OFF) or impulsive manner, with programmable operating times. This remote control board can manage up to 4 electrical devices, each drawing up to 10A, such as lighting systems, acoustic signals, or irrigation systems. The board also includes 4 inputs for connecting local control buttons, allowing device operation via the app (Wi-Fi) or a local switch. Additionally, the product incorporates an RF receiver for 433 MHz radio controls with 1527 coding.

PCB Component Identification:

Power Connection

The product offers two power connection alternatives:

Connection of Relays

The 4 relays can directly control loads up to 10A with a maximum voltage of 250VAC or 30VDC. Each relay has 3 terminals: the central one is COMMON (COM). Using the terminal on the left provides a Normally Open (NO) contact, which is open at rest. Using the terminal on the right provides a Normally Closed (NC) contact, which is closed at rest. An example illustrates controlling an alternating current load with a NO contact, where the load remains unpowered when the relay is not activated. The operation of the relay is configured through the app.

Connection of Local Buttons

While the 4 relays on this board are primarily controlled via the app, it is also possible to connect local physical commands. For this purpose, 5 pins are available in the center of the board. Buttons can be connected between the common pin (C) and pins 1, 2, 3, and 4. Both buttons and ON/OFF switches can be connected to these local inputs. The operation of these local commands can be defined through the app, such as setting a pulse for state change or having the relay follow the command's state, to adapt them to the connected command.

Reset Button

The reset button is located in the center of the board. Holding down the reset button for 5 seconds restores the factory settings and puts the device into app configuration mode, indicated by a rapidly flashing blue LED. For this reason, the reset button is also used for the first installation to bring the remote control into configuration mode. If the device has already been paired with the app and then reset, you will need to delete the device from the app and pair it again.

Radio Control Receiver

The board is equipped with a 433 MHz radio control receiver with 1527 coding. You can associate a radio control, with a pre-programmed code, to each of the relays through the app.

Positioning

When choosing the installation position of the product, pay attention to these precautions:

Check Wi-Fi Coverage

Before placing the remote control in its final location, remember that this device must connect to your Wi-Fi network to function. Therefore, check with your mobile phone to ensure good coverage of your Wi-Fi network at the desired location. If the signal is very poor, you may need to intervene on your Wi-Fi network, perhaps strengthening it with a repeater. Do not install the product in an area with poor Wi-Fi signal, as this would make its operation unreliable.

No Metal Containers

Be careful not to enclose the remote control card in a metal container, as this would shield the Wi-Fi signal. However, you can close the plastic cover of the junction box without problems, as it does not provide significant shielding.

Download the Smart Life App

To use the product with your mobile phone, you must first connect the device to your Wi-Fi network. To do this, you need the "Smart Life" app, which you can download for free from Google Play or the Apple Store. It is a very popular app in home automation, common to many home automation devices.

When you first launch the app, you must create an account by entering a valid email address. Press 'CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT' and then wait for the code via email to confirm registration. If you do not have an email address, you can also use your phone number by pressing 'Use Phone Number' and get the verification code via text message. Once the account is created, you have your own space in the cloud where you can also upload many Wi-Fi remote controls to control various devices and also other home automation equipment, such as cameras and intercoms.

Set Up the Remote Control

To use the remote control with your mobile phone, you must first connect the device to your Wi-Fi network. This is a very easy operation, thanks to the app you just downloaded. Note that on the electronic board, there is a central RESET button and a BLUE LED near the antenna. Locate them, as you will need them for these operations.

  1. Connect your phone to your Wi-Fi network: You want to connect the remote control to. Check your phone's Wi-Fi networks to ensure you are connected to your Wi-Fi network and can browse the Internet. It must be a 2.4 GHz network because the device does not accept 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
  2. Put the remote control into setup mode: For you to add the device to the app, it must be in configuration mode. The device is in setup mode when the blue LED near the antenna flashes quickly. Normally, a new device, as soon as it is powered, is already in configuration mode with the blue LED flashing. If you see the LED solid blue, or off, you can put the device in configuration mode by holding down the RESET button for 5 seconds.
  3. Add the device: Press the '+' button at the top right and then choose 'ADD DEVICE'. If the remote control is in configuration mode, with the blue LED flashing, the automatic search will locate the new device to be configured. Press the 'ADD' button and then, in the following window, choose your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network to connect the device to, entering the correct password. The connection of the device will start and will be completed shortly. Once the device is connected to the Smartlife app, the blue LED on the board stops flashing and becomes solid.

Now the device is connected to the Wi-Fi network. If the connection to the Wi-Fi network is lost, the device will automatically activate the Bluetooth connection.

Control the Relays from the App

Now that you have configured your device, you can control it with the app. Thanks to the P2P cloud server, you can also control it over the Internet.

Timer Functions

The TIMER button allows you to configure different types of relay timing. Remember that if you connect the remote control to voice systems, such as Alexa, you can also set timed controls within the voice platform. The timings you set in Smartlife or those in the voice command platform can also coexist, but you must program them so that they do not conflict. Each relay can have its own specific timings, so you will first choose the switch to program.

Settings

The setting button contains general settings that affect all relays:

Advanced Options

From the relay control page, you can access some advanced options by pressing the edit icon (pencil) at the top right.

Voice Command Equipment

You can connect your remote control with other voice control devices. The remote control is compatible with the most common voice control devices such as Amazon Echo (ALEXA) and Google Assistant. So you can also control the relay by giving voice commands.

Offline Notification

You can enable this feature to receive a notification when the device is unreachable for 30 minutes, due, for example, to a problem with your Internet line or due to a power outage.

Multicontrol Association

If you have connected other controls and switches to Smartlife, you can ensure that when you activate one of the 4 control buttons on this device, other devices in your Smartlife account are also automatically activated. This way, you can combine different activations of your home with a single command. Below, for example, we are connecting other switches to switch 2.

Amazon Alexa Integration

Smart Life integrates seamlessly with Amazon Alexa. Just download the "SMART LIFE" skill using the Amazon Alexa app to connect Alexa to your Smart Life account. Through the Smart Life skill, you can control all our DM Series devices with Alexa voice commands.

Google Home Integration

Smart Life integrates seamlessly with Google Home. You need to download Google Home and connect Smart Life by entering your account credentials.
