Connecting Your DVR Cable Box

What's Included

Some of the items in your kit may not be necessary but have been included in the event you may need them. Your installation kit should include the following items:

Installing New DVR Cable Box

Step 1: Connect Your New DVR Cable Box

Follow these steps to connect your new DVR Cable Box:

1. Connect a coaxial cable from the wall outlet to the 'Cable IN' port on the DVR Cable Box.
2. Connect an HDMI cable from the back of your DVR Cable Box to an 'HDMI IN' port on your HDTV. Note the specific HDMI input used on your TV, as you will need to tune your television to this input later.
3. Connect the power cord from the back of your DVR Cable Box to a power outlet.

Connection Diagram Overview: The diagram illustrates connecting the DVR Cable Box to your TV and power source. A coaxial cable runs from the 'WALL' outlet to the 'CABLE IN' port (labeled 1) on the DVR Box. An HDMI cable runs from the DVR Box's HDMI output to the TV's 'HDMI IN' port (labeled 2). The power cord connects the DVR Box to a power outlet (labeled 3). An optional hookup shows a second coaxial cable connection.

Optional Connection: If your television does not have an HDMI port, connect the second coaxial cable from your television's 'CABLE/ANTENNA OUT' port to the DVR Box port labeled 'TO TV'.

Step 2: Complete Your Installation

1. Power on your television and your new DVR Cable Box. Using your television remote control, tune the TV to the appropriate HDMI input you connected the box to.
2. Install any additional boxes you may have ordered.
3. Call 1-800-562-9769 and follow the instructions to activate your new box(es).
4. Once each box has been activated, it will turn off automatically. Please wait five minutes before powering it back on.

After the DVR Cable Box is activated, you can watch television while the guide information downloads. A "To Be Announced" message may be displayed until the guide download is complete.

Replacing Previous Cable Box Equipment

Step 1: Disconnect Your Previous Cable Box

1. Turn off your television and your previous cable box.
2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of your previous cable box and remove it from the power outlet. Note: Your new box may have different power requirements. It is recommended not to use the old power cord with the new box.
3. Unscrew and remove the coaxial cable(s) from the ports labeled 'Cable IN' and 'To TV' (if connected) from the back of your previous cable box.
4. Set your previous cable box aside and refer to the section titled, 'Return Your Previous Cable Box'.

Step 2: Connect Your New DVR Cable Box

This step is identical to connecting a new DVR Cable Box. Please refer to the 'Installing New DVR Cable Box' section, Step 1 for connection instructions.

Step 3: Complete Your Installation

This step is identical to completing the installation of a new DVR Cable Box. Please refer to the 'Installing New DVR Cable Box' section, Step 2 for completion instructions.

Return Your Previous Cable Box

Follow these instructions to return your old equipment:

1. Return your previous cable box by placing it into the shipping box. Please ensure all items being replaced, such as the power cord and remote, are included.
2. Close and seal the box securely.
3. Place the enclosed return label on the outside of the box, completely covering any previous shipping labels.
4. Refer to the letter included in your equipment kit for specific mailing instructions.

Note: If the unused equipment is not received within 15 business days, an unreturned equipment charge may apply. This charge will be removed from your account once Mediacom receives the equipment.
