VL-35 Mechanical Interface
General Information
This document details the mechanical interface specifications for the VL-35 series of encoders from Netzer Precision Position Sensors A.C.S. Ltd. It covers dimensions, mounting, and configuration options for VLX-35 and VLP-35 models.
Manufacturer: Netzer Precision Position Sensors A.C.S. Ltd.
Stator and Encoder Dimensions
The drawing shows key dimensions for the stator and rotor. The stator has an outer diameter (OD) of 35 ±0.10 mm and an inner diameter (ID) of 11.50 ±0.10 mm. The air gap is specified as 0.60 ±0.20 mm. The rotor has an outer diameter (OD) of 28 ±0.10 mm. Section A-A illustrates encoder dimensions. A note indicates that 1.60 mm typ. screws are used for M1.6 conductive screws, emphasizing their importance for PCB grounding (See Note 1).
Stator mounting requires conductive screws for PCB grounding (Note 1).
Stator mounting uses a Pitch Circle Diameter (PCD) of 31.50 ±0.05 mm.
Mounting holes for stator: 3 holes, 1.7 mm through all, at 3.5 x 90° for M1.6 conical head screws.
Rotor Options
Hollow Rotor Option
This section details the hollow rotor option. It shows mounting holes for the rotor, specifying a PCD of 15.50 ±0.05 mm. The rotor ID is 11 ±0.10 mm. The diagram includes various dimensional callouts and tolerances for the assembly, with a note referencing 'See Note 2'.
Single Screw Rotor Option
This section details the single screw rotor option. It shows mounting holes for the rotor, specifying a PCD of 15.50 ±0.05 mm. The rotor ID is 11 mm. The diagram includes various dimensional callouts and tolerances for the assembly, with a note referencing 'See Note 2'.
Product Configurations
VLX-35 Configuration
- Without conformal coating.
- Features an on-board Connector DF-10S-0.8C.
- A cable with a pairing connector (DF-10P) is available as an accessory.
VLP-35 Configuration
- With conformal coating.
- Cable soldered by flying leads.
Important Notes and Specifications
General Notes
- Note 1: It is important to use conductive screws for the stator mounting for PCB grounding.
- Note 2: An air gap or adapter made of non-conductive material, 2 mm or thicker, is required below the rotor's lower surface between diameters 13.2 mm and 28 mm to prevent parasitic capacitance.
- Note 3: Screw closing torques should follow per-screw specifications.
- Note 4: The specified base and shaft diameters are recommended but not mandatory.
- Note 5: Both stator and rotor are positioned and centered by screws only.
