Leica Rangemaster CRF MAX – New Milestone in Compact Rangefinding

Best Optics and Range with Matrix Display, Ballistics, and Navigation

Wetzlar, August 28, 2025 – Leica Sportoptik is setting a new milestone in rangefinding with the Leica Rangemaster CRF MAX. In a compact housing, the CRF MAX combines high-performance optics with modern technologies in an unprecedented combination. Equipped with an Active-Matrix microLED Display, the leading Applied Ballistics Elite® ballistics program with hit probability analysis, terrain navigation, and Leica ProTrack (LPT™), as well as an extended maximum range of 3,700 yards and functionality, the rangefinder offers all relevant features for a safe shot in one device.

Johannes Fürst, Head of Global Marketing & Communication Sport Optics at Leica Camera AG, states: "With the new Leica Rangemaster CRF MAX, long-range shooters are perfectly equipped and have all options in one device. In combination with Applied Ballistics Elite®, a function that reveals how the rifle performs under various conditions and how errors contribute to a projectile missing its target, the Leica Rangemaster CRF MAX is the most powerful rangefinding monocular in its class."

Very Bright and Customizable Active-Matrix microLED Display

The new Leica Rangemaster CRF MAX features the world's brightest Active-Matrix microLED Display in compact rangefinders, without compromising optical quality. The display's key feature is its customizability, allowing optimal adaptation to specific requirements. Selected functions and measured values can be clearly read. In addition to distance, these include shot correction values in various output formats, hit probability, and wind data. The individual display configuration allows for the optional display of a compass. Small icons provide information on battery status, measurement mode, target mode, selected units, and Bluetooth®. Specifically for distance display, it distinguishes between real distance, calculated ballistic distance, and angle-equivalent distance. Angle, air pressure, and temperature are accessible in a secondary display.

Leica's Typical High-Performance Optics and Intuitive Operation

The Leica Rangemaster CRF MAX offers the highest optical performance in its class of compact rangefinders for hunting and sport shooting. It delivers outstanding image quality, high detail resolution, and fascinating color fidelity. The outer lenses of the 7x24 optics are also coated with AquaDura® for dirt repellency, and the device is waterproof. The Leica Rangemaster CRF MAX is easy to operate thanks to its intuitive user guidance. The distance is measured and the display menu is controlled with a single button.

Eye-Safe Laser with Up to 3,700 Yards Range

The long-range laser system of the Leica Rangemaster CRF MAX is extremely fast and precise. The exceptional range of 3,700 yards is achieved with a Class 1 laser. This means the laser beam is eye-safe and can be used safely for humans and animals. In standard measurement mode, the measurement time is only 0.3 seconds for distances up to 2,000 yards. For distances between 2,000 and 3,700 yards, the long-range mode is activated, taking 1.2 seconds. The high accuracy of +/- 0.5 yards up to 200 yards provides precision in the closer range, particularly important for archery.

Advanced Ballistics Program Applied Ballistics Elite®

With the Leica Ballistics App powered by Applied Ballistics®, users can customize the rangefinder, create personal ballistic profiles, navigate to targets via Leica ProTrack (LPT™), or remotely control the rangefinder. Pairing, programming, transferring, and using the app is a simple routine, with data transferred in real-time. The world's most powerful ballistics program, Applied Ballistics Elite®, features a database of over 800 cartridges, and custom loads can be added. Numerous environmental sensors are included in the calculation. Applied Ballistics Elite® enables ballistic output values up to the maximum measurement range. To improve accuracy for dedicated users, Applied Ballistics Elite® supports additional parameters such as Coriolis effects, Spin Drift, AB Custom Drag Models, Sight Scale Factor, and additional user profiles.

Hit Probability Calculation

The Leica Rangemaster CRF MAX offers the ability to pre-calculate the hit probability for a shot. The "Shot Probability Analysis" is displayed as a percentage with a number and graphically as a circle on the display. The calculation considers many factors besides the actual distance, including data regarding the environment, weapon, ammunition, and target type. A technically determined hit probability for the shot is displayed clearly and quickly, providing additional confidence.

Individually Switchable Target Modes

With the Leica Rangemaster CRF MAX, users can decide which target point to measure. Distinctions can be made between "First," "Best," and "Last." This means a very small object can be precisely targeted in "First" mode, and the distance accurately determined. In "Best" mode, the rangefinder responds to the best reflection of the emitted laser beam, and in "Last" mode, it targets the furthest distance in the background. This switching function significantly expands the application areas of the Leica Rangemaster CRF MAX.

Unique Terrain Navigation and Target Finding

The Leica Rangemaster CRF MAX is equipped with the unique Leica ProTrack (LPT™). This positioning and marking system for terrain navigation offers three options for navigating to a distant target after measurement. Suitable terrain points can be synchronized with the BaseMap® Pro subscription. This allows all functions of Base Map® Pro to be used to navigate to the desired point. This is done via the BaseMap® app on a Bluetooth® connected smartphone. Additionally, it is possible to set a target marker in Google Maps or use the in-app tracking for compass navigation.

Practical Accessories for Use

Original Leica accessories enhance the application of the Leica Rangemaster CRF MAX. In the Leica Rangemaster CRF Tripod Adapter, the rangefinder is securely fixed in a precise shell with a screw and can be safely attached to a photo tripod. This allows very distant targets to be aimed at without shaking. The two neoprene covers protect the housing without compromising the ergonomics of the Leica Rangemaster CRF MAX. The signal orange version serves as a safety color and makes finding the device easier.

Availability and Pricing

The Leica Rangemaster CRF MAX will be available worldwide from August 28, 2025, in Leica Stores, the Leica Online Store, and authorized dealers. The recommended retail price is 1,500 Euros (incl. VAT).
