Pre-configured Wireless Security
This product features a unique Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and network key (password). The default SSID and network key are uniquely generated for each device to protect and optimize wireless security. This information is located on the label on the bottom of the product.
NETGEAR recommends not to change the pre-configured Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and network key (password). If these settings are changed, the information on the bottom of the product will no longer be valid.
Record your pre-configured wireless settings here:
- Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID): _________________________
- Network Key (Password): _________________________
If you have modified the pre-configured wireless settings, record them here:
- Wireless Network Name (SSID): _________________________
- Network Key (Password): _________________________
If you need to retrieve or update your password, type http://www.routerlogin.net
into a Web browser and log in using the default username (admin) and password (password). Select Wireless Settings to find the wireless password.
Connecting Wireless Devices to the Router
Choose either the manual method or WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) to add wireless computers and other devices to your wireless network.
Manual Method
- Open the software utility that manages wireless connections on the wireless device you want to connect to the router (iPhone, laptop, game console). The utility searches to detect all wireless networks in the area.
- Find and select the pre-configured NETGEAR wireless network name (SSID). The pre-configured Wi-Fi network name (SSID) is on the product label on the bottom of the router. Note: If the network name was changed during setup, search for that network name.
- Enter the pre-configured password (or your custom password if it was changed) and click Connect.
- Repeat steps 1 through 3 to add other wireless devices.
WPS Method
If your wireless device supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), referred to as Push 'N' Connect by NETGEAR, you may be prompted to press the router's WPS button instead of entering a password. If this occurs:
- Press the WPS button on the router.
- Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on the client device or follow the WPS instructions provided with your wireless device to complete the WPS procedure. The device will then be connected to the router.
- Repeat this procedure to add other WPS wireless devices.
Note: The WPS feature does not support WEP security. Connecting a WEP client to the network via WPS will not be performed correctly.
Troubleshooting
Browser Cannot Display Web Page
- Ensure your PC is connected to one of the four Ethernet LAN ports or is connected to the router wirelessly.
- Ensure the router is functioning. The router's wireless LEDs should be lit.
- Close and reopen your browser to ensure the previous page is not cached.
- Try accessing
http://routerlogin.net
. - If your PC is set to a static IP address (unusual), change it to obtain an IP address automatically from the router.
