Made to measure, made simple
Getting Started
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for fitting your roller blinds. A video version is also available; click the play button ▶️ to view it. Alternatively, follow these written instructions.
Before you begin:
Controls are typically positioned as requested during ordering. If you need to swap the side of the controls, change the direction of the roll, or trim the blind, the controls can be removed by unplugging them from the tube. This should be done before fixing the brackets.
Fitting the Brackets
Brackets offer three methods of installation:
-
Face-Fixing
Brackets are screwed onto a facing surface, such as a wall or window frame.
-
Top-Fixing
Brackets are screwed into the lintel or the 'ceiling' of the recess.
-
Side-Fixing
Brackets are screwed into the side walls of the recess.
Top Tip: Face-fixing or top-fixing are recommended for most installations. Side-fixing is only advised if the width measurement was taken precisely at the top of the recess.
Safety Note: For safety, ensure the top of the blind is installed at least 150cm (1500mm) from the floor.
Fitting the Blind
Step 1: Locate the pin-end (the end opposite the controls) of the blind into the central hole of the corresponding bracket.
Step 2: Lift the control end of the blind and slot the rectangular 'lugs' into the corresponding slots on the bracket.
Cord Tensioner Installation
The cord retaining device must be installed as far as possible from the control mechanism to prevent looped cords from becoming slack.
- Place the retaining device on the wall and mark the position of the screw hole(s) with a pencil.
- Attach the retaining device to the wall using the provided fixings.
Child Safety
⚠️ WARNING: Young children can be strangled by loops in pull cords, chains, tapes, and inner cords that operate the product.
- To avoid strangulation and entanglement, keep cords out of the reach of young children. Cords can wrap around a child's neck.
- Move beds, cots, and furniture away from window covering cords.
- Do not tie cords together.
- Ensure cords do not twist and create a loop.
Additional Information: Reverse Rolling the Fabric
Roller blinds can have the fabric rolled onto the tube in two directions:
-
Standard Roll:
The fabric is closest to the window or wall and comes down at the back of the tube. This is often used with blackout blinds mounted outside a recess to minimize light leakage.
-
Reverse Roll:
The fabric comes down at the front of the tube, effectively hiding the roll. This method provides clearance behind the fabric for window handles or other obstructions, especially when mounting inside a recess.
Changing the Roll Method:
To change the roll method, pull the back of the chain to lower the blind. Continue pulling until the metal tube is exposed. Keep pulling, and the blind will begin to raise with the fabric rolling up over the front of the roller tube. Note that this reverses the chain operation: use the front of the chain to lower and the back of the chain to raise.
