Intended Use
This oscillometric blood pressure monitor is intended for measuring non-invasive blood pressure in people aged 12 years or older. It is clinically validated in patients with hypertension, hypotension, diabetes, pregnancy, pre-eclampsia, atherosclerosis, end-stage renal disease, obesity, and the elderly. The device can detect an irregular pulse suggestive of Atrial Fibrillation (AF). Please note that the device is not intended to diagnose AF. A diagnosis of AF can only be confirmed by ECG. The patient is advised to see a physician.
This device uses the same measuring technology as the award-winning «BP 3BTO-A» model tested according to the British and Irish Hypertension Society (BIHS) protocol.

- Do not remove the cuff between measurements. A fourth measurement may be taken automatically if one is questionable.
- AF detection is only activated in MAM mode.
Checklist for Taking a Reliable Measurement
- Avoid activity, eating, or smoking immediately before measurement.
- Sit on a back-supported chair and relax for 5 minutes.
- Keep feet flat on the floor and do not cross legs.
- Always measure on the same arm (normally left). Doctors may perform double arm measurements to determine the best arm.
- Remove close-fitting garments. Shirt sleeves should not be rolled up if they are laid flat.
- Ensure the correct cuff size is used.
- Fit the cuff closely but not too tight.
- Position the cuff 2 cm above the elbow.
- The artery mark on the cuff must lie over the brachial artery.
- Support your arm so it is relaxed.
- Ensure the cuff is at the same height as your heart.
Taking a Blood Pressure Measurement
- Select standard or MAM mode.
- Press the ON/OFF button 1 to start.
- The cuff inflates automatically. Relax, do not move or tense your arm muscles. Breathe normally and do not talk.
- The cuff fit check 18 on the display indicates placement. 18-A means suboptimal fit but measurement can proceed.
- Pumping stops when correct pressure is reached; pressure falls gradually.
- The pulse indicator 23 flashes during measurement.
- Results (systolic 12, diastolic 13, pulse 14) are displayed.
- Remove the cuff after measurement.
- Switch off the device (it switches off automatically after approx. 1 min).
AF detection is only activated in MAM mode.
You can stop measurement anytime by pressing the ON/OFF button.
This monitor is tested for use in pregnancy and pre-eclampsia. If high readings occur in pregnancy, re-measure after an hour. If still high, consult a doctor. The AFIB symbol can be ignored in pregnancy.
Manual Inflation
For high systolic pressure (e.g., >135 mmHg), you can set pressure individually. Press ON/OFF after the cuff inflates to ~30 mmHg, keep pressed until ~40 mmHg above expected systolic, then release.
How Not to Store a Reading
Press and hold the ON/OFF button 1 until «M» 16 flashes. Confirm deletion by pressing the MAM button 4. «CL» indicates deletion.
How to Evaluate Your Blood Pressure
The traffic light indicator 22 shows the range:
Range | Systolic (mmHg) | Diastolic (mmHg) | Recommendation |
---|---|---|---|
1. Blood pressure too high | ≥135 | ≥85 | Seek medical advice |
2. Blood pressure elevated | 130-134 | 80-84 | Self-check |
3. Blood pressure normal | <130 | <80 | Self-check |
The higher value determines the evaluation. Example: 140/80 mmHg or 130/90 mmHg indicates «blood pressure too high».
Appearance of the Pulse Arrhythmia (PAD)
The PAD symbol 20 indicates pulse irregularities. Results may deviate; repeat measurement. If the symbol appears regularly, consult your doctor.
Information for the Doctor on Frequent Appearance of the Arrhythmia Indicator
This device detects pulse irregularities. It does not replace a cardiac examination. In MAM mode, AF is also checked. If the symbol appears, select MAM mode and measure again.
Data Memory
The device stores the last 99 measurement values.
Viewing Stored Values
When the device is off, briefly press the M-button 3. It shows «M» 16 and «A» (average). Pressing M again shows previous values.
Readings with suboptimal cuff fit (18-A) are not included in the average.
The memory overwrites the oldest value when full (100th value). Consult a doctor before the memory is full.
Clearing All Values
To permanently remove all stored values, press and hold the M-button (device off) until «CL ALL» appears, then release. Press the MAM button 4 while «CL ALL» flashes to confirm. Individual values cannot be cleared.
Cancel deletion: Press ON/OFF button 1 while «CL ALL» flashes.
