Battery Installation
Please lubricate the threads at the tail cap of the flashlight at various intervals with suitable lubricants such as lithium grease to preserve thread integrity. Lubricate the O-rings with silicone-based lubricants to prolong their life and maintain their function to prevent the ingress of dust and moisture. The uvBeast is NOT submersible.
Spare O-rings are inside the internal packaging.
The Li-ion cells are found inside the uvBeast V3 PRO. A thin white PLASTIC circular disc is present at the end of the battery (between the battery and the inside tail cap) for transit. Please discard this disc as it prevents parasitic drain and circuit connection during transit. Li-ion cells arrive semi-charged and may need further charging. For first use, fully charge the batteries.
The positive ends of each cell are inserted first into the barrel, facing the LED head. The negative end faces the tail cap. A third battery is included and is located inside the supplied barrel.
Batteries and Accessories Included
The uvBeast V3 PRO uses 21700 Li-ion BUTTON-TOP batteries. DO NOT use "true" flat top* 21700 batteries as they will not form an end-to-end connection in the barrel. 18650 size batteries can also be used if they are at least 67mm in length.
* "true" flat top batteries are where the positive metal end of the battery does NOT protrude beyond the plastic casing.
The batteries are 3.7v Protected PCB batteries with a 4000mAh capacity each. They are designed to prevent over-charging and over-discharging.
Li-ion cells can be charged between 300 to 500 times, or potentially 700 to 1000 times. To optimize the battery's working life, it is best practice to charge the cell when it is about 80% depleted.
The two-bay charger has safety protection to prevent over-charging. The USB cable allows flexibility of power sources. A mains plug with USB connection is also supplied.
Li-ion cells offer relatively high voltage and sustain discharge at high voltage levels, making them a cost-effective and long-lasting power source.
The Additional Barrel
The additional barrel supplied accommodates an additional 21700 li-ion battery, providing three batteries in total for approximately 7 hours of working time. Using 3 batteries instead of 2 does not increase UV intensity.
The diagram below illustrates the sections where the uvBeast V3 PRO contains threaded sections. #2 is the additional barrel used for a 3-battery setup. #1 and #3 are required for a 2-battery setup. #4 is the on/off tail cap switch.

Care and Maintenance
Lubricate the threads at the tail cap with lithium grease at various intervals to preserve thread integrity. Lubricate the O-rings with silicone-based lubricants to prolong their life and maintain their function to prevent dust and moisture ingress.
If the V3 PRO LEDs flicker during operation or turn off automatically after some seconds when switched on, it signifies that it is time to charge the batteries. If batteries are drained beyond a certain point, the protected PCB circuit may activate to prevent damage due to over-discharging, causing the batteries to auto shut off. In this event, charging may require longer than normal. Wait until the charge indicator light on the charger turns green.
Battery Safety:
- Battery damage due to misusage or using non-supplied batteries will not be covered under warranty.
- Do not place damaged or defective batteries in the V3 PRO.
- Do not store batteries in pockets or close to metal objects when kept outside of the V3 PRO.
- Do not tamper with the batteries.
If batteries fail to charge after several attempts, the PTC mechanisms may have activated, permanently deactivating the battery. Do not attempt to activate deactivated batteries.
Troubleshooting
LEDs are not coming on
Check the following:
- Battery Type: Ensure you are using the correct batteries. "True" flat-top batteries will not work in the V3 PRO due to series connection. "True" flat-top cells have positive and negative metal ends below the plastic casing, preventing metal-to-metal contact when stacked. Batteries with a protruding positive metal end are compatible.
- Battery Orientation: The positive ends of the batteries must face the LED head. The negative ends face the tail cap.
- Battery Charge: Ensure batteries are fully charged (3.7-4.2 volts) or the charge indicator lights on the charger are green. Charging may take longer if not using mains power.
- Battery Insulation Disc: Ensure the white PLASTIC circular disc found at the end of the battery (between the battery and the inside tail cap) has been removed. This disc is for transit only.
- Unit Not Turning On: If all previous checks are done and the V3 still will not turn on, the batteries may need to be charged again. The PCB protection may need another charge cycle to "wake up" the cell, which can take around 24 hours. If issues persist, contact uvBeast.com for assistance.
UV emission appears to be not all that strong (i.e. weak UV)
UV light output is not comparable to regular white light. Test with objects known to vividly fluoresce (e.g., washed whites, white paper, fluorescent materials). If vivid fluorescence is not observed, it may be a defective unit or a battery issue. Charge the batteries until the indicator turns green, as this can take up to 24 hours if the battery needs to "wake up".
Light getting “dim”
If the uvBeast appears dim after prolonged use, the batteries are likely low on voltage. Check if fluorescence is affected; if so, charge the batteries.

Using UV Light
The uvBeast models emit ultraviolet light in the wavelengths 385-395nm and 365nm. Visible light is around 400nm and above.
Getting Best Results
Different substances fluoresce at different UV intensities. For best results, use in darker conditions. In ambient light conditions, a decent 4-6ft beam range can still be achieved.
TIP: Scan a general area first to illuminate, and then shine closer to investigate & spot.
In ambient light, you may need to get closer depending on the fluorescence intensity. Scorpions glow electric blue/green at night/dull conditions, except for very young ones and adults that have recently molted.
What Can the uvBeast Be Used for?
The uvBeast is suitable for commercial and domestic applications, saving time, effort, and money on sanitization, fluorescence detection, and other UV tasks.
UV light allows for precise spot-treatment of stains that are otherwise invisible. Applications include:
- Gems, Rocks, and Minerals (e.g., rubies, diamonds, yooperlite, opal).
- Cat/Dog urine (dry urine fluoresces; wet urine is visible to the eye).
- Scorpions and their dens.
- Rat/Mouse urine trails.
- Human Body Fluids (urine, semen).
- Unsanitary stains.
- Leak Detection (using UV dyes or calcium deposits).
- Conformal Coating Detection (e.g., glue coverage, paint anomalies).
- UV Curing (resins and adhesives).
- Other applications requiring 395nm UV light, such as UV adhesive curing, artwork and antique inspection, fluid leak detection, property hygiene appraisal, UV photography, UV paint charging and fluorescence, charging fishing lures and golf discs, egg inspection, gemstone identification, caterpillar identification, resin detection, fossil detection, mineral fluorescence, Vaseline glass identification, banana inspection, ringworm and mold detection, crime and forensic investigation, narcotic detection, and PCB conformity checking.

Technical Section
[Diagram of the Electromagnetic Spectrum showing UV and Visible light ranges]
Depending on the model, the uvBeast emits UV at 385-395nm or 365nm.
How it all works?
The uvBeast V3 PRO emits 385nm-395nm wavelength light. This invisible light causes excitation in substances, which then emit light back in the visible spectrum (fluorescence), observable by the naked eye.
What difference does the higher power from uvBeast make?
Higher intensity UV light leads to greater excitation and better fluorescence results. uvBeast flashlights are designed for high intensity UV output.
Spectral Quality
The graph illustrates the UV capability of the uvBeast. The uvBeast peaks at ~393nm at 100% output, with quality output still at ~382nm at 82% output. This is considered excellent compared to industry benchmarks, as many other UV flashlights are only capable of 390nm to 395nm at 63% output.
