Common accessories and their uses:

Maintenance (NEU180 Series)

Dust Cup and Filters

Empty the dust cup after each use. Washable foam filters should be cleaned monthly: Pull the dust cup latch, lift out the foam filter, shake off dust, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely. For the filter screen, grip tabs, lift out, twist bottom counterclockwise to unlock, pull apart, shake off dust, rinse screen and dust cup, and dry thoroughly. Reassemble by aligning the tab on the filter screen with the slot on the back of the dust cup, dropping into position, reinstalling the foam filter, and closing the cover until it clicks.

Warning: Never operate the vacuum cleaner without the foam filter, filter screen, and dust cup in proper position.

Clearing a Blockage

CAUTION: Make sure the vacuum is turned off and the power cord is unplugged.

If suction is low or cleaning is ineffective, check for blockages:

  1. Press the release button and lift off the dust cup. Empty debris.
  2. Check the filter and filter screen for debris.
  3. Loosen the end of the hose.
  4. Use a rod or blunt implement to clear blockages in the wand or hose. Flex the hose to loosen debris.
  5. Check for debris in the air path with a finger.
  6. Reinstall the filter, filter screen, and dust cup.

Maintaining Brushroll and Turbo Brush

CAUTION: Make sure the vacuum is turned off and the power cord is unplugged.

To maintain the brushroll: Step on the handle release to lower the handle, turn the vacuum face down, and use scissors to clip heavy threads or strings from the brushroll.

To maintain the turbo brush (select models NEU182-NEU188 except NEU182A): Grasp the collar and twist to unlock the cover, lift the cover, use fingers or a small brush to clear accumulated pet hair from bristles, then close the cover and twist the collar to lock.

Replacing Brushroll or Belt

CAUTION: Make sure the vacuum is turned off and the power cord is unplugged.

To replace the brushroll or belt: Lay the vacuum cleaner face down. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove 6 screws from the brushroll cover and lift it off. Rotate the right end of the brushroll and lift it out, then lift out the left end. To replace the belt, position the new belt around the motor shaft and then loop it around the brushroll shaft. To reposition the brushroll, pull the belt down, insert the left end of the brushroll first, align the end cap with the slot, press the right end into position. To replace the brushroll cover, align the slot on the cover with the tab, snap the cover into place, and replace the 6 screws.

Problem Solving (NEU180 Series)
