Diode and Continuity

Description: Continuity test and diode measurement are executed in smart mode. When resistance is < ~30 Ω, it displays resistance and the buzzer sounds with the continuity indicator (green LED) lit. For diodes, it displays approximate forward voltage. "OL" is shown for open circuits or reversed polarity. Normal forward voltage for silicon PN junctions is ~0.5V to 0.8V.

Battery Voltage Measurement

Description: Measures 1.5V and 9V batteries. Load resistance is ~100Ω for 1.5V and ~400Ω for 9V.

Instructions for Use

Cautions Before Operation

  1. Turn on the power and check the battery level. Replace batteries if "---" is displayed.
  2. The warning symbol ▲ near probe jacks indicates input limits to protect the internal circuit.
  3. Set the function range switch to the desired range before measurement.

DC Voltage Measurement

  1. Connect the red probe to the "VmA" jack and the black probe to the "COM" jack.
  2. Set the function range switch to a V-range. Connect the probes to the power or load. Polarity and measured value will be displayed.
  3. Notes: If unknown range, start with maximum and decrease. "OL" indicates overrange; select a higher range. Do not input > 600V. Be cautious with high voltages.

AC Voltage Measurement

  1. Connect the red probe to the "VmA" jack and the black probe to the "COM" jack.
  2. Set the function range switch to a V-range. Connect the probes to the power or load. The measured value will be displayed.
  3. Note: Refer to DC voltage measurement notes for ranges and safety.

DC Current Measurement

  1. Connect the black probe to the "COM" jack.
  2. For currents up to 200mA, connect the red probe to the "VmA" jack. For currents between 200mA and 10A, connect the red probe to the "10A" jack.
  3. Set the function range switch to the desired A range. Connect the probes in series with the load. The displayed current value indicates polarity.
  4. Notes: If unknown range, start with maximum and decrease. "OL" indicates overrange; select a higher range. Exceeding jack limits will blow the fuse.

Resistance Measurement

  1. Connect the black probe to the "COM" jack and the red probe to the "VmA" jack.
  2. Set the function range switch to the desired resistance range. Connect the probes to the resistance under test.
  3. Notes: "OL" indicates overrange; select a higher range. High resistance readings may take time to stabilize. "OL" is displayed with no input. Turn off power and discharge capacitors before online resistance measurements.
