1. Safety Precautions
This product is designed to be used by a person with specialized knowledge. Observe the cautionary notes below to ensure correct and safe use. Failure to do so may impair the instrument's protective measures.
WARNING: Indicates a hazard that may result in the loss of life or serious injury unless the described instruction is abided by.
CAUTION: Indicates a hazard that may result in an injury to the user and/or physical damage to the product or other equipment unless the described instruction is abided by.
NOTE: Indicates information that is essential for handling the instrument or should be noted for familiarization with operating procedures and/or functions.
TIP: Indicates additional information to complement the present topic.
WARNING:
- This instrument is a thermometer (thermocouple used). Do not use for other purposes.
- Do not use if there is a problem with its physical appearance.
- Do not use to measure where there is a risk of electrical shock.
- When handling a needle-type probe, be careful not to point the tip in the direction of any person, as doing so may result in an injury.
- After measuring a high-temperature object, do not touch the metal part of the measuring probe to avoid burns.
- Do not open the case except when replacing batteries. Only qualified Yokogawa service personnel are authorized to remove the casing or disassemble/replace the instrument.
- Do not attempt to repair/modify the instrument yourself, as it is extremely dangerous.
CAUTION:
- If the instrument is stored for a long period, remove the batteries to prevent failure or malfunctioning due to battery leakage.
- Do not use deteriorated or damaged probes, as this will affect measurement accuracy.
- Before detaching the probe from the instrument, always remove the probe from the object being measured.
- When using a needle-type probe, do not insert the metal part of the probe more than half its length into the object to be measured to avoid burns or damage to the probe due to overheating of the probe handle.
- Keep the probe handle and its connecting cable within a temperature range of -20°C to 50°C, as they are less resistant to heat than the metal part of the probe.
Measurement category:
- The instrument is designed for measurement category O (Other).
- Do not use for measurements in locations falling under categories II, III, and IV. Do not connect the temperature probe (accessory) to these locations.
- Do not use to measure voltage or current.
Environmental Information:
- The instrument is for domestic use (Class B) and meets electromagnetic compatibility requirements.
- The estimated transient overvoltage at the instrument signal input is 350 V.
2. Cleaning and After-Sales Service
Cleaning
If the instrument becomes dirty, wipe it with a cloth dampened with water and well wrung. If very dirty, use a cloth dampened with diluted neutral detergent. Do not use other detergents, solvents, or chemicals, as this may cause instrument failure.
Avoid water or liquids splashing onto the connector, as this may cause instrument failure.
After-Sales Service
Direct questions about this product to the contact listed on the "Inquiries" sheet or to your nearest Yokogawa dealer.
3. Handling Precautions
CAUTION:
- Each probe has its own maximum and minimum operating temperatures; ensure its temperature does not fall outside the specified range.
- As the probe is susceptible to corrosion, do not use for gas or liquid measurement, and refrain from measuring semi-solid or semi-viscous substances. After measurement, wipe the probe with a dry cloth.
- Do not apply strong force to the upper and lower parts of the probe, as this may bend the probe connector.
- When using the instrument, be careful not to bend, drop, or strike the measurement probe.
- When measuring surface temperature with a surface-type probe, position the probe perpendicular to the surface. Applying oil to the probe for better contact can improve measurement accuracy.
- When measuring non-metallic surface temperature, ensure the measurement time is long enough to compensate for poor thermal conductivity.
- To ensure stable measurement, the instrument should not be subjected to sudden temperature changes.
- This instrument, except for the connector section, is water-resistant but not waterproof. Do not immerse it in water. If mistakenly immersed, remove it immediately and check for water penetration. While designed to prevent water in the connector from reaching the circuit, try to avoid water entering the connector, as this may make the burnout display unavailable.
