If you are a Windows user, please find the appropriate keycaps in the box, then follow the instructions below to find and replace the following keycaps.

Mac / Windows Keycap Layout

The keyboard layout is designed to be compatible with both Mac and Windows operating systems. Keycaps for specific functions may need to be swapped depending on your OS.

Connectivity

1. Connect 2.4GHz Receiver

Connect the 2.4GHz receiver ? to your device's USB port. Switch the keyboard's toggle to the 2.4GHz mode (indicated by 'G'). For optimal performance, use the provided extension adapter and place the receiver close to your keyboard to minimize latency and interference.

2. Connect Bluetooth

Switch the keyboard's toggle to Bluetooth mode (indicated by 'BT'). Press and hold fn + 1 for 4 seconds to enter pairing mode. Pair your device with the keyboard named 'Keychron K4 HE' via your device's Bluetooth settings.

3. Connect Cable

Connect the keyboard to your device using the Type-A to Type-C cable. The keyboard will operate in wired mode.

System Toggle

Ensure the system toggle switch on the keyboard is set to match your computer's operating system (Win or Mac) for correct key mapping.

Keychron Launcher App

Visit launcher.keychron.com to access the Keychron online Launcher app ?. This application allows users to remap keys, adjust actuation points, assign multiple commands to a single key, and enable game controller mode. If the app does not recognize your keyboard, please contact Keychron support for assistance. Note: The online launcher app currently supports the latest versions of Chrome, Edge, and Opera browsers.

The Layers

The keyboard features four layers of key settings:

If your system toggle is switched to Mac, Layer 0 is activated by default. If switched to Windows, Layer 2 is activated by default. Layer 1 is accessed on Mac by pressing fn + MO(1), and Layer 3 is accessed on Windows by pressing fn + MO(3).

Layer 0 (Mac Default)

Standard key layout for Mac. Includes keys like: esc, Scr-, Scr+, MCtl, LPad, Br -, Br +, Prvs, Play, Next, Mute, Vol -, Vol +, del, home, end, pgup, pgdn, RGB MD+, numeric keys (1-0), -, =, ← backspace, N.Lck, /, tab, alphanumeric keys (Q-P, [, ], ;, ', {, }), caps lock, A-L, :, ", ← enter, numeric keypad (7-9, +), Left Shift, Z-M, <, >, ?, Right Shift, 1-3, N.Ent, LCtrl, LOpt, LCmd, Space, RCmd, MO(1), RCtl, <, >, 0, ..

Layer 1 (Mac + fn/MO(1))

Accessed by pressing fn + MO(1) on Mac. Provides access to functions like: F1-F12, BTH1, BTH2, BTH3, 2.4G, RGB Toggle, RGB Md+, RGB Md-, Brght+, Brght-, Hue+, Hue-, Sat+, Sat-, RGB SPI, RGB SPD, RGBTg, Batt, NKRO.

Layer 2 (Windows Default)

Standard key layout for Windows. Includes keys similar to Layer 0 but with Windows-specific modifiers: esc, F1-F12, del, home, end, pgup, pgdn, RGB Md+, numeric keys (1-0), -, =, ← backspace, N.Lck, /, tab, alphanumeric keys (Q-P, [, ], ;, ', {, }), caps lock, A-L, :, ", ← enter, numeric keypad (7-9, +), Left Shift, Z-M, <, >, ?, Right Shift, 1-3, N.Ent, Left Ctrl, LWin (Left Windows), LAlt (Left Alt), Space, RAlt (Right Alt), MO(3), RCtl (Right Ctrl), <, >, 0, ..

Layer 3 (Windows + fn/MO(3))

Accessed by pressing fn + MO(3) on Windows. Provides access to functions like: Scr-, Scr+, Task, File, Br -, Br +, Prvs, Play, Next, Mute, Vol -, Vol +, RGB Toggle, RGB Md+, RGB Md-, Brght+, Brght-, Hue+, Hue-, Sat+, Sat-, RGB SPI, RGB SPD, RGBTg, Batt, NKRO.

Factory Reset & Firmware Update

Factory Reset

If you encounter issues, you can reset your keyboard:

  1. Power on your keyboard.
  2. Press and hold fn + J + Z for 4 seconds. The keyboard backlight will flash red for 3 seconds, indicating a successful reset.

Flash Keyboard Firmware

  1. Visit launcher.keychron.com to open the online Launcher web app.
  2. Ensure the keyboard is connected via Cable or Wired mode and plug in the power cable.
  3. Navigate to the 'Firmware Update' tab on the left side of the Launcher and connect your keyboard.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware update.
