mySugr Logbook User Manual

Version: 3.92.22_Android - 2021-12-01

1 Indications for Use

1.1 Intended Use

The mySugr Logbook (mySugr app) is used to support the treatment of diabetes through daily diabetes-related data management and aims to support the optimization of therapy. Users can manually create log entries including information about insulin therapy, current and target blood sugar levels, carbohydrate intake, and activity details. The app also allows synchronization with other therapy devices, such as blood sugar meters, to mitigate errors from manual entry and improve user confidence.

The mySugr Logbook supports therapy optimization in two ways:

  1. Monitoring: By monitoring parameters in daily life, users are assisted in making better-informed therapy decisions. Data reports can be generated for discussion with healthcare professionals.
  2. Therapy Compliance: The app provides motivational triggers, feedback on therapy status, and rewards for staying motivated, thereby increasing therapy compliance.

1.2 Who is the mySugr Logbook for?

The mySugr Logbook is designed for people who:

1.3 What devices does the mySugr Logbook work on?

The mySugr Logbook is compatible with iOS devices running iOS 14.2 or higher, and most Android smartphones running Android 6.0 or higher. It should not be used on rooted devices or smartphones with a jailbreak installed.

1.4 Environment for Use

As a mobile application, the mySugr Logbook can be used in any environment with an internet connection where mobile phone use is permitted.

5 Getting Started

5.1 Installation

iOS: Open the App Store, search for "mySugr", tap the icon, and press "Get" then "Install". You may need to enter your App Store password.

Android: Open the Play Store, search for "mySugr", tap the icon, and press "Install". You will need to accept Google's download conditions.

5.2 Home

An account must be created to use the mySugr app and export data.

5.2.1 If you measure your blood sugar with a meter exclusively (or use a real-time CGM connection that is not Eversense)

The most frequently used features are the Magnifying Glass icon ? for searching entries (mySugr PRO) and the Plus Sign icon for adding a new entry.

Below the graph, daily statistics are displayed:

Under these statistics, fields provide information on insulin units, carbohydrates, and more.

Below the graph, tiles display information for specific days, including:

5.2.2 If you use an Eversense real-time CGM connection

At the top, the most recent CGM value is displayed. A red label indicates if the value is 10 minutes old or older.

Below, a graph shows CGM values as a curve, with markers for therapy events. The graph can be scrolled sideways to view older data. Scrolling replaces the large CGM value with a smaller number showing past values. To see the latest value, scroll the graph all the way to the right.

Boxes below the graph may provide information, for example, about CGM connection issues.

5.3 Explanation of terms, icons and colors

5.3.1 If you measure your blood sugar with a meter exclusively (or use a real-time CGM connection that is not Eversense)

  1. Tapping the Magnifying Glass icon ? on the dashboard allows searching for entries, tags, locations, etc.
  2. Tapping the Plus Sign icon allows adding an entry.

Dashboard elements (3) and the monster character (2) react to the current day's blood sugar levels. The graph's color adapts to the time of day (1).

Each tag in the new entry screen describes a situation, scenario, context, mood, or emotion, with a text description provided below each icon.

Color coding in the app is based on user-defined target ranges:

The app displays various tiles in eleven different shapes:

  1. Blood sugar
  2. Weight
  3. HbA1c
  4. Ketones
  5. Bolus insulin
  6. Basal insulin
  7. Pills
  8. Food
  9. Activity
  10. Steps
  11. Blood pressure

5.3.2 If you use an Eversense real-time CGM connection

Tapping the Plus Sign icon allows adding an entry.

The color of the CGM value adapts to the level:

These ranges can be changed in the settings screen. The same color coding applies to the CGM curve and blood glucose measurements in the graph and list.

Markers in the graph use icons to indicate data types and are colored differently:

  1. Drop: Blood sugar measurement
  2. Syringe: Bolus insulin injection
  3. Apple: Carbs
  4. Syringe with dots underneath: Basal insulin injection

Each tag in the new entry screen describes a situation, scenario, context, mood, or emotion, with a text description provided below each icon.

5.4 Profile

Access Profile & Settings via the side menu. Users can change personal, therapy, and application settings, and enter specific details about their diabetes type and diagnosis date. The password can be changed at the bottom.

Users enter their name, email address, gender, and date of birth. Email address and password can be updated here. Users can also customize their "diabetes monster" character.

mySugr requires details about diabetes management, such as blood sugar units (mg/dL or mmol/L), carbohydrate measurement methods, and insulin delivery methods (pump, pen/syringes, or none). For insulin pump users, basal rates can be entered and displayed on graphs in 30-minute increments. Oral medications (pills) can be named for selection during entry. Other details like age, diabetes type, target BG ranges, and target weight can also be entered. If a specific device is not listed, it can be left blank, and users can request its addition.

Total basal insulin for the 24-hour period is shown in the upper right corner. Tap the green check mark ✔️ to save basal rates or the "x" to cancel and return to settings.

Users can define their diabetes devices and medications. If a device or medication is not listed, it can be skipped, and users can request its addition. Settings for monster sounds and weekly email reports can be adjusted. The Bolus Calculator settings can also be changed.

5.5 App behavior when changing the time zone

5.5.1 If you measure your blood sugar with a meter exclusively (or use a real-time CGM connection that is not Eversense)

In the graph, log entries are ordered by local time, with the time scale set to the phone's time zone. In the list, entries are ordered by local time, and the time label reflects the entry's creation time zone. If an entry was created in a different time zone, an additional label indicates it (referencing GMT offset time zones).

5.5.2 If you use an Eversense real-time CGM connection

In the graph and list, log entries and CGM entries are ordered by absolute time (UTC), preserving chronology. The graph's time scale is set to the phone's time zone. List entries use the original time zone label, with an additional label for different time zones.

11 Import data

11.1 Hardware

Ensure your device is not connected to your smartphone. If connected, remove the pairing from your smartphone's Bluetooth settings and from the device itself, if possible.

Select "Connections" from the menu.

Select your device from the list.

Click "Connect" and follow the on-screen instructions in the mySugr app.

Following successful activation, blood sugar values are automatically synchronized with the mySugr app each time the device is connected while the app is open.

ATTENTION: Ensure the units shown on your device (e.g., mg/dL or mmol/L) match the units set in the mySugr app to avoid mix-ups.

Duplicate readings (e.g., a meter reading also manually entered) are automatically merged.

Extremely high or low values are marked: "Lo" for values below 20 mg/dL, and "Hi" for values above 600 mg/dL (equivalent values apply for mmol/L).

After data import, perform a live measurement by going to the home screen and inserting a test strip into your meter.

11.2 Syncing Time on Accu-Chek Instant

To sync time between your phone and an Accu-Chek Instant meter, turn on your meter while the app is open.

11.3 Import CGM Data

11.3.1 Import CGM via Apple Health (iOS only)

Ensure Apple Health is enabled in the mySugr app settings and that glucose sharing is enabled in Apple Health settings. CGM data will appear in the graph. Note: Dexcom data via the Health app may have a three-hour delay and not display real-time information.

11.3.2 Hide CGM Data

Double tap the graph to open an overlay panel to enable or disable CGM data visibility (not available for Eversense CGM users).

12 Export data

Select "Reports" from the side menu. Change file format and period if needed (mySugr PRO). Tap "Export". Access sending and saving options by tapping the button in the upper right corner (or lower left since iOS 10).
