Pool Lab PL Series Salt Chlorinator
Quick Start Guide
Model Specific Ideal Salinity
PL25, PL35 & PL45 Models
Ideal Salinity: 3000 ppm @ 25°C
PL ECO Models
Ideal Salinity: 5600 ppm @ 25°C
General Operation & Salinity
Operation at the ideal salinity level (±500 ppm) maximizes cell life, self-cleaning efficiency, and chlorine output. In cases where water temperature is continually maintained above 35°C, the ideal salinity is reduced by approximately 500ppm.
A "HIGH SALT" message may appear on the display if the salinity is above ideal, and/or the water temperature is high. This is a warning to discourage users from adding more salt; the chlorinator will still be functioning normally.
If a "HIGH SALT (OFF)" message appears, the water will need to be diluted* before chlorine production can occur. This protects the power supply and electrode plates from damage due to excessively high salinity.
Control Panel Overview
- UP / DOWN Buttons: [Up/Down Arrows]
- Adjusts % chlorine output from the HOME view. Used to navigate the menu system and adjust settings.
- VIEW Button: [Eye Icon]
- Cycles through display views: HOME - TIME/DATE - TIMERS. HOLD to access the menu system and press to select menu items.
- HOME: Displays filtration MODE and chlorine output %.
- TIME/DATE: Displays current time and date.
- TIMERS: Displays filtration timers. To disable a timer, set the start and end time equal to each other.
- MODE Button: [Mode Icon]
- Cycles through the filtration run modes: ON - OFF - AUTO.
- ON: Filtration pump runs continuously; chlorine production at % set by user.
- OFF: Filter pump remains OFF; no chlorine production.
- AUTO: Filter pump and chlorine production during timer periods as set by the user.
- BACK Button: [Back Icon]
- Cancels an action or returns to the HOME view.
General Use Instructions
FOR GENERAL USE: Please ensure the TIME & DATE are set correctly prior to use, as this is required for AUTO mode to function. Ensure the filtration pump is plugged into the pump outlet socket at the bottom of the unit. Set the filtration timers as required**, and then set the run mode to AUTO.
THIRD PARTY EQUIPMENT CONTROLLERS: Refer to the Instruction Manual for setup advice.
Important Warnings
DO NOT ADD CHEMICALS DIRECTLY TO THE SKIMMER AS THIS MAY DAMAGE EQUIPMENT AND MAY ALSO CAUSE RAPID CALCIFICATION OF THE CHLORINATOR CELL ELECTRODE PLATES.
- Pumping out a percentage of the water and refilling with fresh water is the fastest way to reduce salinity. In cases where water cannot be pumped out below the skimmer level, this may need to be repeated several times if salinity needs to be reduced significantly.
- We generally recommend 8 hours filtration per day during summer and 4 hours per day during winter. Requirements can vary. Test water for pH and Free Chlorine levels regularly. We recommend maintaining between 1.0 - 3.0 ppm free chlorine. Ideal pH level is dependent on your pool type and water conditions. Seek advice from your pool builder or local swimming pool professionals.
