MagSpeed Adaptive Scroll Wheel
The speed-adaptive scroll wheel automatically shifts between two scrolling modes. As you scroll faster, it transitions from precise line-by-line scrolling to near-frictionless free-spinning, ideal for navigating long documents and web pages.
- Line-by-line (ratchet) mode: Ideal for precise navigation of items and lists.
- Hyper-fast (free-spin) mode: Near-frictionless spinning for flying through long documents and web pages.

Manual Mode Switching: You can also manually switch between modes by pressing the mode shift button, typically located on the top of the mouse.
In Logitech Options software, you can disable SmartShift to always use manual shifting or adjust the SmartShift sensitivity to control the speed at which automatic mode switching occurs.
Horizontal Scroll
The MX Anywhere 3 allows for horizontal scrolling using a two-button combination: press and hold one of the side buttons while simultaneously scrolling the wheel.

Horizontal scroll is enabled by default in Logitech Options software and can be customized within the "Point & Scroll" tab. For more detailed information, refer to the relevant section below.
Back/Forward Buttons
The back and forward buttons enhance navigation and simplify tasks. Pressing either button allows you to move back or forward through web pages or documents, depending on the context.

Note for Mac users: Enabling the back/forward buttons requires the installation of Logitech Options software. This software also allows you to assign other useful functions to these buttons, such as undo/redo, OS navigation, and volume control.
App-Specific Settings
Customize your mouse buttons to perform different functions within various applications. For example, assign side buttons to control volume in Spotify, copy/paste in Microsoft Excel, or undo/redo in Adobe Photoshop. Logitech Options provides predefined app-specific settings that adapt button behavior to selected applications.
Predefined App-Specific Settings:
Default Settings | Button 1 (Middle Button) | Button 2 (Side) | Button 3 (Side) |
---|---|---|---|
Browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari) | Open link in a new tab | Back | Forward |
Zoom | Middle Button | Mute / Unmute Microphone | Start/Stop Video |
Microsoft Excel | Pan (Hold and move mouse) | Undo | Redo |
Microsoft Word | Pan (Hold and move mouse) | Undo | Redo |
Microsoft PowerPoint | Pan (Hold and move mouse) | Undo | Redo |
Adobe Photoshop | Pan (Hold and move mouse) | Undo | Redo |
Adobe Premiere Pro | Pan (Hold and move mouse) | Undo | Redo |
Apple Final Cut Pro | Pan (Hold and move mouse) | Undo | Redo |
The wheel mode-shift button retains consistent functionality across all applications with these settings. All settings can be manually customized for any application.
Adjusting Scroll Wheel Feel
In Logitech Options, under the "Point & Scroll" tab, you can adjust the feel of the scroll wheel when in Ratchet mode:
- A lower force setting results in a subtle and smooth ratchet.
- A higher force setting provides a firm and precise ratchet.

Assign Gestures to the Top Button
For advanced functionality, assign the top button to act as a "Gesture Button". This transforms it into a multi-function button for desktop navigation, app management, panning, zooming, and more.
To assign gestures: In the "Mouse" tab of Logitech Options, select the top button below the wheel and choose "Gesture Button".
By default, gesture buttons enable navigation between windows and desktops. To perform gestures, hold the button while moving the mouse.

A minimum three-minute charge provides enough power for a full day of use. A full charge can last up to 70 days, depending on usage and operating conditions.
Battery Status: The LED on the top of the mouse indicates the battery status:
- Green: From 100% to 10% charge.
