MediaTek MT2523D/MT2523G IoT Wireless Connectivity
The MediaTek MT2523 product family, comprising the MT2523D and MT2523G, is built around a highly integrated System-in-Package (SiP). This SiP includes a microcontroller unit (MCU), a low-power Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver (in MT2523G), dual-mode Bluetooth, and a power management unit (PMU).
The MCU is an ARM Cortex-M4 with a floating-point unit, integrated with 4MB of PSRAM and 4MB of flash memory. The MT2523 also supports various interfaces, including UART, I2C, SPI, I2S, PWM, SDIO, MSDC, USB, PCMIF, ADC, and dual digital microphones.
The GNSS companion chip is a multi-GNSS RF SOC designed for high sensitivity, accuracy, and fast Time-to-First-Fix (TTFF) with minimal power consumption. It supports multiple location and navigation systems such as GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BEIDOU, SBAS ranging (WAAS, EGNOS, GAGAN, MSAS), QZSS, DGPS (RTCM), and Assisted GPS (A-GPS). It also features up to 12 multi-tone active interference cancellers.
The Bluetooth subsystem supports both Bluetooth 2.1 and Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy dual modes, encompassing the Bluetooth radio, baseband, and link controller.
The display component supports MIPI-DSI and serial interfaces. It offers 2D capabilities with true color, per-pixel alpha channel, and anti-aliasing fonts. It also supports 1-bit indexed color to conserve memory and processing power. The camera component supports DDR mode with a maximum clock rate of 48 MHz, up to VGA resolution.
BENEFITS
- High integration of RF, MCU, and Memory.
- Low power mode with Real-Time Clock (RTC).
- Supports multiple frequency and voltage modes for extended battery life and maintained high performance.
- Fast switching time from sleep to active mode, under 10 µs.
The system operates with a power supply ranging from 3V to 4.8V.
Diagram Description: The block diagrams illustrate the MT2523D and MT2523G chips. Both feature an ARM Cortex-M4F MCU, 4MB RAM, 4MB Flash, and a 96-bit eFuse. They include a PMU, SYS CLK, and RTC. Connectivity interfaces like D-MIC, PCM, UART, I2C, I2S, SPI, ADC, and GPIOs are shown. The MT2523G additionally includes a GNSS block. Both diagrams show connections for a 26MHz crystal oscillator and an optional 32KHz crystal.
