Box Contains

The Dual Channel Receiver

The Wireless GO II features two transmitters and a dual channel receiver, allowing connection of both transmitters for recording two sound sources into a single device. Out of the box, transmitters are auto-paired to the receiver and remember their assigned channel, simplifying setup.

The receiver's LED screen is divided into four main sections. It displays icons for battery life, signal strength, and input level for each transmitter on the bottom left and right. The middle section shows icons for battery life, backlight mode, and output gain for the receiver. An output level meter above these sections helps monitor input levels to your camera or recording device, ensuring optimal signal strength.

Turning On and Pairing Your Wireless GO II

To turn on the Wireless GO II, press and hold the power button on the receiver. To pair transmitters, press and hold the power button on each transmitter one at a time. They will automatically pair to the receiver within seconds.

If a transmitter loses connection, its blue '∞' LED will flash, and its channel icons on the receiver will go blank, indicating a need to reconnect. To reconnect a transmitter, press and hold the pair button ('∞') on the receiver for three seconds to enable pairing mode, then single-click the transmitter's power button and wait a few seconds.

To disconnect a transmitter, single-click the pair button to select it, then press and hold the pair button for three seconds.

Understanding RØDE's Series IV 2.4GHz Digital Transmission

The Wireless GO II utilizes RØDE's Series IV 2.4GHz digital transmission with 128-bit encryption, providing an extended transmission range of 200 metres (line of sight). It is optimized for stable operation in environments with high RF activity, such as dense urban areas, shopping malls, universities, convention centres, and offices, reducing concerns about dropouts.

Merged & Split Mode

The Wireless GO II offers recording in either 'Merged' or 'Split' mode. This allows you to record each transmitter onto separate output channels or combine them into a single output.

To switch between 'Merged' and 'Split' mode, press and hold both buttons on the receiver for three seconds, observing the output level meter on the LED screen. When two meters are displayed, you are in 'Split' mode, meaning each transmitter's output is recorded onto separate channels (left and right) for individual post-production processing. This is ideal for two-person interviews where independent editing of each sound source is required.

When only one meter is displayed, you are in 'Merged' mode. This combines the two transmitters into a single summed output, suitable for single transmitter use or when utilizing the safety channel. It also functions well in live presentation setups.

For more information on importing and separating audio in post-production, refer to the blog post 'How To Record Two Microphones Into Your Camera'.

Channel Selection & Mute Control

Channel Selection

Clicking the pair button on the receiver cycles through the transmitters: a single click selects transmitter 1, a second click selects transmitter 2, and a third click exits channel selection. This function requires transmitters to be powered on and paired.

Mute Control via the Receiver

Once a transmitter is selected via channel selection, single-click the gain control/mute button to mute it. This is useful for camera operators needing to quickly mute a transmitter.

Mute Control via the Transmitter

You can also mute via the transmitter. When paired, single-click the transmitter's power button to mute and unmute. This is useful for speakers or presenters. Note: Transmitter mute control is active only when the power button is configured to 'Mute' mode, which is the default setting and can be changed in RØDE Central.

Device Connectivity

Connecting to Cameras

Use the supplied SC5 cable to connect your Wireless GO II to cameras and devices with a 3.5mm TRS input. For devices with an XLR input, use an adapter like the VXLR Pro.

Connecting to Computers

Connect the Wireless GO II receiver to any computer using a USB-C to USB-A cable (or USB-C to USB-C for compatible ports). In your computer's audio settings, select 'Wireless GO II RX' as the input device. This enables the receiver to function as a wireless USB audio interface.

Connecting to Mobile Devices

To connect the Wireless GO II to a smartphone or tablet, additional cables are required. For iOS devices with a Lightning input, use the SC15 or SC19 cables. The Wireless GO II is MFi-certified for seamless iOS integration. For Android and other devices with a USB-C input, use the SC16 USB-C to USB-C cable.

Note: For iOS devices with a Lightning port, only RØDE Lightning Accessory Cables (SC15 or SC19) are compatible. Standard USB-C to Lightning cables will not work.

Pro Tip:

Connecting the Wireless GO II to your smartphone or tablet via USB-C, instead of using the 3.5mm analog TRS output, provides access to several useful features:

Headphone monitoring: The USB-C output allows you to plug headphones into the 3.5mm output for audio monitoring during recording. The gain control can also be used to adjust headphone volume.

Gain Control

The Wireless GO II features flexible gain controls to precisely tailor the receiver's output, preventing clipping or distortion in your recording device. The gain control is located on the receiver and offers three stages: high (0dB), medium (-12dB), and low (-24dB). The level icon on the screen indicates the selected gain setting. A fine gain control mode is also available via the RØDE Central app.

Note: The gain control affects only the 3.5mm output of the Wireless GO II, not the digital USB-C output. For USB-C connections to smartphones or computers, adjust gain within your recording software or app.

More granular control over gain levels, including selecting gain presets for various camera models, is available through the RØDE Central app. Refer to the user guide for 'Using RØDE Central with Wireless GO II' for more details.

Pro Tip:

For the cleanest signal, set your camera's gain as low as possible and use the Wireless GO II's gain control to boost the signal if needed. Cameras often have noisy preamps, so it's best to rely on the Wireless GO II for optimal recording levels.

Battery Life and Power Saver Mode

Backlight Control/Power Saver Mode

To conserve battery life, activate power saver mode on the receiver. When enabled, the LED backlight turns off after 10 seconds of inactivity. To disable power saver mode, single-click the power button; the backlight will remain on. A small sun icon (☀️) indicates if power saver mode is engaged (full = disengaged).

Battery and Charging

The Wireless GO II's transmitters and receiver have built-in lithium-ion batteries offering up to seven hours of operation. A low battery on a transmitter is indicated by a flashing battery LED, which flashes faster when very low. Battery level icons on the receiver screen show status: green outline for fully charged, amber for low, and red for very low. The Wireless GO II can be recharged using the supplied USB cables. During charging, the transmitter battery LED flashes, and the receiver displays a lightning bolt (⚡) icon. The device can be used while charging.

Using the Windshields

Each transmitter features a high-quality, in-built omnidirectional condenser capsule, designed to capture sound with great detail from all directions.

When recording outdoors or in windy environments, it is recommended to use the supplied furry windshields to protect the capsules and reduce wind or background noise. The Wireless GO II includes three redesigned furry windshields that ensure an extremely strong connection, even with vigorous use.

To attach a windshield securely, align the two white dots on the windshield with the black dots on the transmitter, push the windshield down, and twist to lock it in place. Reverse the process to remove it.
