Safety Notes

General Safety Warnings: Always read and follow all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations, and specifications provided with the power tool. Failure to do so may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury. Keep warnings and instructions for future reference.

Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Avoid operating power tools in explosive atmospheres. Keep children and bystanders away.

Electrical Safety: Ensure power tool plugs match outlets. Avoid contact with earthed surfaces. Do not expose tools to rain or wet conditions. Do not abuse the power cord.

Personal Safety: Stay alert and use common sense. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye protection. Prevent unintentional starting by ensuring the switch is off before connecting power or battery. Maintain proper footing and balance.

Power Tool Use and Care: Use the correct tool for the application. Do not force the tool. If the switch is faulty, the tool must be repaired. Disconnect power/battery before adjustments or storage. Maintain tools and accessories; repair damaged tools before use. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Keep handles dry and clean.

Battery Tool Use and Care: Recharge only with the specified charger. Use only designated battery packs. Keep battery packs away from metal objects to prevent short circuits. Avoid contact with battery fluid; seek medical attention if contact occurs. Do not use damaged or modified battery packs. Do not expose batteries to fire or excessive temperatures.

Service: Have power tools serviced by qualified personnel using identical replacement parts. Never service damaged battery packs yourself.

Special Safety Instructions: Never place fingers or body parts in the working area of the cylinder or press jaws. Remove the battery before performing any work on the machine. Unauthorized repairs can lead to severe injury or death. Only trained personnel should use the ROMAX Compact III. Use only approved press jaws and fittings. Ensure the press jaw is securely locked. Press the EMERGENCY STOP button if problems occur during pressing. Check pipe joints for security after pressing. Ensure no moisture enters the machine. This is an electro-hydraulic machine; handle oil leaks appropriately.

Charger and Battery Safety: Chargers are not intended for unsupervised use by children or persons with disabilities. Supervise children during use. Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries. Use chargers indoors only and protect them from moisture. Do not allow children to use the machine. Keep chargers out of reach of children. Pull the plug if the charger smokes. Do not insert objects into ventilation slots. Do not recharge fully charged batteries. Protect battery packs from water, flame, and damage. Do not open battery packs or short-circuit them. Handle Li-ion battery fluid leaks with care. Follow transport regulations for lithium-ion batteries.

A. Changing the Battery

Description: Visual guide showing how to insert and remove the battery. To insert, push the battery into the tool until it locks audibly. To remove, press the locking system and pull the battery out.

B. Emergency-Off / ON-Switch / Positions

Description: Illustrates the tool's controls. Position 1: EMERGENCY-OFF button pressed. Position 2: ON-Switch in the 'START' position. Position 3: Shows the press jaw can be rotated up to 270 degrees for optimal working angles.

C. LED Indicators

Description: Explanation of the tool's LED lights. White LED: Illuminates for 5 seconds after a short keystroke or completed pressing process. Green LED: Briefly lights up after pressing the keystroke, indicating the pressing process can be performed. It lights up after the pressing process is completed. Red LED (flashing): Indicates a low battery. Red LED (solid): Lights up for 3 seconds if the machine is not ready for operation or after an incomplete pressing process. Yellow LED: Indicates necessary maintenance.

D. Insert Press Jaw

Description: Step-by-step guide for inserting a press jaw. 1. Open the securing bolt. 2. Insert the appropriate press jaw for the job. 3. Lock the bolt securely. After changing the press jaw, ensure it matches the profile and nominal width of the fitting. A visual inspection is required to confirm the press jaw is fully closed at the end of the press cycle.

E. Operation

Description: Instructions for using the tool. Use only system-compatible press fittings and press jaws. The nominal size of the press jaw must match the fitting. Warning: Risk of crush injuries to fingers or other body parts near the press jaw when inserting the pipe/fitting system. 1. Push the press fitting onto the pipe. Pull the press jaw apart and insert the pipe with the fitting at a right angle. Ensure no foreign bodies are between the press contour and the fitting for a perfect joint. 2. Press the ON button until the pressing process is completed; the motor cut-out indicates the end of the cycle. 3. Pull the press jaw apart and remove the machine from the joint. Do not start the machine while the piston retracts or the emergency shutdown is pressed.

F. Charger and Battery

Description: Overview of charger and battery components: 1. Battery pack, 2. Sliding seat, 3. Operation display, 4. Warning display, 5. Capacity indicator button, 6. Capacity and signal indicator. Battery charge levels are indicated by LEDs. Handling instructions include charging the battery pack fully before first use and proper storage temperatures. Fault conditions are indicated by warning lights.

Self-test: Upon inserting the mains plug, the warning and operating indicators light up sequentially, and the fan runs briefly.

Battery Pack Handling: Charge before use. Store between 0°C and 50°C. Li-ion battery packs have a capacity indicator. If an LED flashes, the battery needs recharging.

Charging Battery Pack: Push the battery pack onto the sliding seat until it stops. The operating indicator flashes during charging. Conservation charge mode is activated upon completion.

Fault Indicators: A continuously lit warning display indicates issues like incorrect temperature or a non-charged battery. A flashing warning display signifies a defective battery or improper seating.

Care and Maintenance

Remove the battery before any work on the machine. Check press jaws for functionality; send damaged jaws for repair. Ensure press jaw and drive rolls move freely. Check bolts for damage regularly. Clean and grease drive rolls, bolts, and press jaws after use with high-quality grease. Keep the pressing contour free of grease. All other servicing and repair work must be done by an authorized ROTHENBERGER repair shop. Damage to the seal voids the warranty.

The machine requires servicing by an authorized ROTHENBERGER workshop after 40,000 pressing cycles or 2 years. When dispatching, pack the machine, battery, and charger in its carrying case.

Charger repairs must be performed by qualified electricians. If the mains connection cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or a qualified person.
