TP-Link Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Light Switch

Quick Start Guide

Wire Your Switch

*Images may differ from your actual product.

  1. Step 1: Turn Off Power and Prepare

Turn off the circuit breaker controlling the switch. Remove the old wallplate and the old wall switch. Label the wires connected to the old switch to identify them.

    Wire identification:

    • Ground: Usually green or copper wire.
    • Neutral: Usually white wire, typically not connected to a standard dumb switch.
    • Line/Load: Usually black wire, connected to the dumb switch.

If you are unsure about identifying wires, consult a qualified electrician.

  2. Step 2: Disconnect Old Switch

Disconnect the wires from the old wall switch.

  3. Step 3: Connect Wires to Smart Switch

Connect the wires to the Kasa Smart Switch as follows:

To Light: Connect the Load wire to the corresponding terminal on the smart switch.

Power Source: Connect the Line wire to the corresponding terminal on the smart switch.

Ground: Connect the Ground wire to the ground terminal.

Neutral: Connect the Neutral wire to the neutral terminal.

Note: For this smart switch, there is no need to distinguish between Line and Load wires; they are interchangeable.

  4. Step 4: Secure the Switch

Line up the smart switch with the mounting holes in the electrical box. Secure the switch using the provided screws.

  5. Step 5: Attach Wallplate

Attach the wallplate to cover the installed switch. The wiring is now complete.
