Quick Start Guide
Wire Your Switch

Step 1: Turn Off Power and Prepare
Turn off the circuit breaker controlling the switch. Remove the old wallplate and the old wall switch. Label the wires connected to the old switch to identify them.
Wire identification:
- Ground: Usually green or copper wire.
- Neutral: Usually white wire, typically not connected to a standard dumb switch.
- Line/Load: Usually black wire, connected to the dumb switch.
If you are unsure about identifying wires, consult a qualified electrician.
Step 2: Disconnect Old Switch
Disconnect the wires from the old wall switch.
Step 3: Connect Wires to Smart Switch
Connect the wires to the Kasa Smart Switch as follows:
To Light: Connect the Load wire to the corresponding terminal on the smart switch.
Power Source: Connect the Line wire to the corresponding terminal on the smart switch.
Ground: Connect the Ground wire to the ground terminal.
Neutral: Connect the Neutral wire to the neutral terminal.
Note: For this smart switch, there is no need to distinguish between Line and Load wires; they are interchangeable.
Step 4: Secure the Switch
Line up the smart switch with the mounting holes in the electrical box. Secure the switch using the provided screws.
Step 5: Attach Wallplate
Attach the wallplate to cover the installed switch. The wiring is now complete.

Set Up Your Switch
Step 1: Download the Kasa Smart App
Get the Kasa Smart app from the App Store or Google Play.

Note: You can also scan a QR code if available in the app.
Step 2: Set Up Your Smart Switch
Open the Kasa Smart app. Tap the '+' button and select 'Smart Switches'. Follow the step-by-step instructions within the app to set up your smart switch.
Appearance
The Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Light Switch features built-in motion and ambient light sensors that work together to enable hands-free control.
- Ambient Light Sensor: Detects light levels.
- Motion Sensor: Detects movement.
- On/Off Button: Manual control for the light.
- LED Indicator: Shows the status of the switch.
- Reset Button: Used for resetting Wi-Fi or factory defaults.
Button Explanations
- Reset: Press and hold for approximately 5 seconds to reset the Wi-Fi connection while keeping other settings.
- Restart: Press to restart the switch.
- Factory Reset: Press and hold for approximately 10 seconds to restore the switch to its factory default settings.

LED Indicator | Status |

Safety Notice
Before installing, servicing, or removing the switch, read and follow all safety precautions, including the following:
[!] CAUTION – Risk of Electric Shock. More than one disconnect switch may be required to de-energize the equipment before servicing. A circuit breaker which disconnects the Line and Neutral conductors simultaneously is suitable. Ensure power is off at the circuit breaker before removing or installing any switch. Use a non-contact voltage tester to ensure the power is off.
The Smart Switch must be installed and used in accordance with the National Electric Code (NEC) or your local electrical code. If you are unfamiliar with these codes and requirements, or are uncomfortable performing the installation, consult a qualified electrician.
Do not install the Smart Switch with wet hands or when standing on wet or damp surfaces.
Install only in a suitable UL Listed outlet box with suitable dimensions: Height > 2.95 in. (75 mm), Width > 1.81 in. (46 mm), Depth > 2 in. (51 mm).
