DJI Ronin 4D Release Notes
This document outlines the firmware release notes for the DJI Ronin 4D and its associated accessories. It details the updates, new features, and fixes implemented in each firmware version.
Firmware Updates and New Features
March 7, 2023
- Added support for DJI Assistant 2 (Ronin Series) to activate Ronin 4D RAW license.
- Added support for DJI DL PZ 17-28mm T3.0 ASPH Lens.
- Added support for Ronin 4D Flex.
- Added support for controlling iris, focus, and zoom of manual lenses using up to three DJI RS Focus Motor (2022) on Ronin 4D Flex. The motors can be connected in series using the provided Multi-Camera Control Cable. Requires DJI RS Focus Motor (2022) firmware v00.03.04.64 or above.
- Added support for electric zoom control, optical stabilization, and AF/MF switching for E Mount Lenses. Focus ring controls focus when in MF mode. Requires E Mount Unit firmware v00.00.13.00 or above.
- Added support for focus direction settings with the right-hand grip.
- Fixed issue: auto focus was not available when using zoom for zoom lens.
- Fixed issue: audio was stuck when using playback for certain video formats.
January 13, 2023
- Added support for Leica L mount lenses.
- Added manual calibration for zoom lenses.
- Added max speed auto adjustment for the gimbal using the joystick based on live view FOV.
- Added support for outputting clean HDMI footage for playback, on-screen display switch, and LUT application on the HDMI port. LUT application is only available when outputting clean footage via HDMI.
- Added support for anamorphic display de-squeezing for the High-Bright Main Monitor during playback.
- Added a red indicator for overexposure on the waveform and a small option for waveform size settings.
- Added support for custom features for C1 and C2 buttons.
- Added Position and Distance options in MF mode for fine focus control.
- Added support for using playback via hand grips: Press and hold the EXP button on the left hand grip to enter/exit playback. Press the MODE button to switch options, the trigger to select footage, and the dial on the right hand grip to adjust the progress bar.
- Added automatic hiding of the playback progress bar after two seconds of inactivity.
- Added support for zoom direction settings using the dial on the right hand grip.
- Added custom feature: press and hold the trigger to support Z-Axis Lock and zoom.
- Added zoom control feature: turn the dial while pressing and holding the trigger on the right hand grip. Ensure the zoom feature is set to press and hold the trigger.
- Optimized startup time for Ronin 4D.
- Optimized zoom control smoothness for zoom lenses.
- Optimized the display effect for the High-Bright Main Monitor and fixed the overexposure issue in bright areas.
- Fixed issue: some E mount lenses without calibration could not focus stably at infinity.
- Fixed issue: gimbal settings did not take effect after importing user profiles.
- Fixed issue: iris failed to be read with E mount lenses with a manual adjustment iris ring.
- Fixed issue: gimbal mode failed to reset after setting to custom.
- Fixed issue: playback footage displayed slightly green.
- Fixed issue: LiDAR waveform displayed normally, but AF/AMF was occasionally unavailable.
August 31, 2022
- Added support for ProRes 4444XQ and ProRes 422LT recording.
- Added support for Jam Sync via external timecode generator and the 3.5mm microphone port.
- Added support for using the DJI Ronin 4D Hand Grips Mount Universal Adapter with the Ronin-S External GPS Module for improved stability during high-speed turns.

- Fixed issue: excessive noise when switching the built-in ND with E Mount lens.
- Fixed issue: camera restarted when using the right hand grip to adjust iris with a manual lens.
- Notes: ProRes 4444XQ video can only be stored on DJI PROSSD.
- Notes: HDMI port cannot output signal when selecting ProRes 4444XQ.
- Notes: Exposure assistant, peak focus, and LiDAR waveform are disabled for optimal performance when recording ProRes 4444XQ video at 6K/48fps or 4K/96fps and above.
- Notes: Left channel cannot be used when using Jam Sync via the 3.5mm microphone port.
August 5, 2022
- Added ability to record and playback transmission image and audio for the High-Bright Remote Monitor.
- Added force mobile feature to control the gimbal for the High-Bright Remote Monitor.
- Added support for up to 1080p/60fps HDMI signal display input for the High-Bright Remote Monitor.
- Added support for anamorphic display de-squeezing for the High-Bright Remote Monitor.
- Added HDMI/SDI output frame rate individual settings for the remote monitor expansion plate.

- Added ability to mark focus points and limit points for Three-Channel Follow Focus.
- Fixed issue: Ronin 4D transmitter occasionally failed to start linking in a low-temperature environment.
April 24, 2022
- Added display ratio switch for the remote monitor expansion plate. The HDMI/SDI port can output Normal or CenterCrop footage.
- Fixed rare issue: High-Bright Remote Monitor failed or took more than one minute to power on.
- Fixed rare issue: Three-Channel Follow Focus status LED abnormally switched between red and green.
February 16, 2022
- Stopped support for Apple ProRes RAW internal recording.
- Added Mirror Control mode for video transmission. The HDMI port of the main body will not output the code stream in mirror control mode, but the remote monitor expansion plate can output the code stream normally.
- Added OSD display switch for the remote monitor expansion plate. The HDMI/SDI port of the remote monitor expansion plate can output clean HDMI footage.
- Added ability to lock/unlock the high-bright remote monitor screen by pressing the power button once.
- Added power level display of the video transmitter on the high-bright remote monitor screen.
- Added Sport mode to the stabilizer menu on the high-bright main monitor.
- Added ability to enter/exit Sport mode by pressing the M button on the left hand grip or top handle twice.
- Added depth of field display to MF readings and LiDAR waveform when aperture has been read.
- Added support for calibration of more manual lenses, regardless of focus ring rotational direction.
- Added ability to use more third-party E mount electronic lenses without calibration (requires the latest firmware version of the X9 E mount unit).
- Added log export feature, allowing logs to be output to selected storage media.
- Added Invert Joystick Up/Down switch.
- Added native mark on the EI list for native ISO.
- Optimized image quality for ProRes 422 HQ.
- Fixed issue: record button lights on the main body and right hand grip would switch off when the tally light was disabled on the screen.
- Fixed rare issue: frames were dropped when recording 6K ProRes 422 HQ video with the sensor frame rate at 60fps.
General Notes for Firmware Updates
- Attach all accessories to Ronin 4D before updating firmware.
- Attach the DJI Three-Channel Follow Focus to the High-Bright Remote Monitor to update firmware simultaneously.
- Ensure both the Video Transmitter and High-Bright Remote Monitor are updated to the latest firmware version to avoid abnormal video transmission.
- If the update fails, restart the device and try again.
