Mounting Instructions: SLC Side Carrier
Step 1: Assemble Carrier Frame
Attach the parts (2) to (5) to the side carrier frame (1) as shown in the drawing. Use liquid thread locker. Tighten screws as specified in the parts list. A torque of 8 N-m is indicated for some fasteners.
Diagram shows the SLC side carrier frame (part 1) with smaller parts (2-5) being attached using screws. A torque specification of 8 N-m (medium thread locker recommended) is indicated.
Step 2: Prepare Vehicle
Remove the seat and the screws from the vehicle as shown in the drawing.
Diagram illustrates the removal of the motorcycle seat and screws from the vehicle's rear section.
Step 3: Mount Carrier to Vehicle
Attach the side carrier (1) to the vehicle as shown in the drawing. Use liquid thread locker for screws (9) and (11). Tighten the screws as specified in the parts list. Torque values: 23 N-m (medium thread locker) for screws (9) and 9.6 N-m (medium thread locker) for screw (11).
Diagram shows the motorcycle's rear subframe area. The SLC side carrier frame (1) is being mounted to the vehicle at specific points using bolts (9) and (11). Torque values of 23 N-m (medium thread locker) and 9.6 N-m (medium thread locker) are indicated for different fasteners.
Mounting Instructions: URBAN ABS Side Case
Step 1: Attach Side Case to Carrier
Place the three locking openings of the side case onto the guide bolts of the mounted SLC side carrier. Press the side case slightly downward until it rests securely on the carrier. Ensure all three guide bolts engage simultaneously. Listen for a distinct audible snap sound and confirm the red marking under the slider is not visible, indicating correct locking.
Diagram shows attaching the side case to the SLC side carrier. It highlights the locking mechanism, requiring the case's openings to align with the carrier's guide bolts. A "CLICK!" sound and visual confirmation (red marking not visible) indicate correct locking.
ATTENTION: Ensure no components of the side case contact hot or moving parts of the vehicle. Maintain a minimum distance of 5 cm from hot parts and the exhaust stream. Verify this clearance is maintained with both suspension compression and extension.
Diagram shows a clearance check, requiring a minimum of 5 cm distance from hot parts and exhaust, even when the suspension is compressed or extended.
Step 2: Secure the Side Case
Open the mounted side case (1) to protect it against theft. Press the locking button and turn it according to the arrow mark until it engages. Then, use the included lock (2) to secure the closed zipper. It is recommended to keep the locking button in the closed position during rides.
Diagram demonstrates opening the side case, pressing a locking button, and then using the provided lock (2) to secure the zipper. It recommends keeping the locking button in the closed position during rides.
Loading & Care Instructions
Step 3: Pack and Load Side Case
Use the included waterproof inner bag (3) to protect your luggage from moisture. Fold and seal the opening of the inner bag as shown.
Diagram shows how to fold and seal the waterproof inner bag (part 3) to protect luggage from moisture.
For easier loading of the side case (1), open the buckles and hook-and-loop fasteners of the opening reductions as shown in the drawing.
Diagram illustrates opening buckles and hook-and-loop fasteners on the side case to expand the opening for easier loading.
ATTENTION: If using side cases on both sides, ensure weight is evenly distributed between the left and right case. Make sure the loading is secured against shifting during the ride!
ATTENTION: Never store pointy or sharp-edged objects, which could cause injury to persons or damage to the vehicle/side case!
Diagrams show icons with checkmarks "✔️ OK" indicating proper weight distribution and securing of luggage. A warning symbol "⚠️" is displayed with text advising against storing sharp or pointed objects that could cause injury or damage.
Care Instructions
To clean the side case, use warm, soapy water and a soft, clean cloth. Rinse with clean water. Do NOT use strong cleaning agents, rough cleaning tools, or a high-pressure washer!
Clean the side case after riding in salty conditions to avoid damage from salt.
Hard-to-open zippers can be loosened with a small amount of talcum powder.
ATTENTION: Surface materials can experience color changes or fading when exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods of time and by environmental factors (e.g., SMOG, acid rain, etc.)! SW-MOTECH assumes no liability for this.
