EXPLORER PTT Push-To-Talk Unit
Quick Guide - Dispatch
The EXPLORER PTT Unit automatically turns on when the ignition key is turned. It is ready for use when the display shows DISPATCH and DISCONN. When the ignition is switched off, the PTT Unit remains on for some time and then switches off automatically.
Press CALL to contact the operator/dispatcher and wait until the connection is established.
Press the PTT button to start transmitting. If somebody is talking already, his name is displayed instead of CONN.
Emergency call: Press the Distress button on the back for 5 seconds, then press the PTT button to force a call through to the emergency call number.
Device Overview
The EXPLORER PTT Unit is a handheld communication device. Key controls and indicators include:
- Volume On/off: Control for audio volume and power.
- Signal strength: Indicator for network signal quality.
- Dim and lock function: Button for display dimming and key locking.
- PTT button: Push-to-talk button for transmitting.
- Selector wheel: Used to navigate menus and adjust settings.
- Enter: Button to confirm selections.
- Shift, Home, Replay, Call, Distress: Function buttons for various operations.
Menu Navigation
| Menu | Contents |

| STAT | Network status for BGAN and cellular networks. DISPATCH mode. CONN or DISCONN state. |
| INFO | External loudspeaker on (default) or off. External audio (VHF) on (default) or off. Device name, serial number and software version. |
| EVENT | Current warnings and errors. If any, a triangle is displayed. |
Key Functions
| Key | Description |

| Shift | Shifts between the menus and the items in a menu. |
| Home | Goes back to the STAT menu. |
| Replay | Replays the last 30 seconds of the received signal. |
| Call | Sends a call request to the operator/dispatcher. |
| Distress | Forces a call through to the emergency call number. (button on the back) |
External Audio ON/OFF (VHF)
- Press Shift to go to the INFO menu.
- Press Enter to enter the menu.
- Turn the selector wheel to highlight ExAudio.
- Press Enter.
- Turn the selector wheel to highlight ON or OFF.
- Press Enter to accept the setting.
External Loudspeaker ON/OFF
- Press Shift to go to the INFO menu.
- Press Enter to enter the menu.
- Turn the selector wheel to highlight ExSpeaker.
- Press Enter.
- Turn the selector wheel to highlight ON or OFF.
- Press Enter to accept the setting.
Change the volume of the PTT Unit and the external loudspeaker by turning the volume control.
To dim the display
- Make a short press on the dim button.
- Turn the selector wheel to dim the display.
Key lock function
Make a long press on the lock button. Press again to unlock.
To turn on or off manually
Push the on/off button for 2 seconds.
