TP-Link Archer AX Series Wi-Fi 6 Router Quick Installation Guide
This guide provides essential steps for connecting and setting up your TP-Link Archer AX series Wi-Fi 6 router.
1. Connect the Hardware
Follow these steps to physically connect your router.
Step 1: Prepare Your Modem and Router
Unplug the power from your modem (if applicable) and remove its backup battery if it has one. Place the router horizontally and orient its antennas vertically.

If your internet service comes from an Ethernet outlet (not a DSL, Cable, or Satellite modem), connect the router's WAN port directly to it. Then, proceed to steps 3 and 4 to complete the hardware setup.

Step 2: Connect Modem to Router
Connect the powered-off modem to the router's WAN port using an Ethernet cable.

Step 3: Power On Devices
Power on the modem first and wait approximately 2 minutes for it to restart and establish a connection. Then, connect the power adapter to the router and turn the router on.
Step 4: Verify Hardware Connection
Check the following LEDs on the router to confirm the hardware connection is correct:
- Power: On
- 2.4GHz: On
- 5GHz: On
- Internet: On
Note: If the 2.4GHz and 5GHz LEDs are off, press and hold the WPS/Wi-Fi button on the back of the router for more than 2 seconds, then release it. Both LEDs should turn solid on.
2. Set Up the Network
Choose one of the following methods to configure your network.
Method ONE: Via TP-Link Tether App
- Download the TP-Link Tether app from your device's app store. [Download on the App Store] [Get it on Google Play] [QR Code for Tether App]
- Open the Tether app and log in using your TP-Link ID. If you don't have an account, create one first.
- Tap the [+] button within the Tether app, select "Router", then "Wireless Router". Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup and connect to the internet.
To access a more comprehensive service from TP-Link, bind your TP-Link ID to the router.
Method TWO: Via a Web Browser

Connect your computer or mobile device to the router. You can do this wirelessly or by using an Ethernet cable. The default wireless network names (SSIDs) and passwords are printed on the label located at the bottom of the router.

Launch a web browser on your connected device. Enter the address

WPS/Wi-Fi Button:
- Press the button for 1 second, then immediately press the WPS button on your client device to start the WPS pairing process.
- Press and hold the button for more than 2 seconds, then release it to turn the router's wireless function on or off.
- Reset Button: Press and hold the reset button for approximately 6 seconds, until the Power LED blinks, to restore the router to its factory default settings.

- Test your internet connection by directly connecting a computer to the modem using an Ethernet cable. If the internet still does not work, contact your internet service provider.
- Log in to the router's web management page. Navigate to the Network Map page to check if the internet IP address is valid. If it is valid, go to Advanced > Network > Internet > Advanced Settings, select "Use the Following DNS Addresses", and set the primary DNS to
8.8.8.8
and the secondary DNS to8.8.4.4

If the IP address is not valid, check your hardware connections or contact your internet service provider. - For cable modem users: Log in to the router's web management page, go to Advanced > Network > Internet > MAC Clone. Select "Clone Current Device MAC" and click SAVE. Then, reboot both the modem and the router.
Q3. What should I do if I forget my wireless password?
- If you have not changed the default wireless password, it can be found on the label at the bottom of the router.
- Connect a computer directly to the router using an Ethernet cable. Log in to the router's web management page at

and navigate to the Wireless page to retrieve or reset your wireless password.
Q4. What should I do if I forget my web management page password?
- If you are using a TP-Link ID to log in, click "Forgot Password?" on the login page and follow the instructions to reset it.
- Alternatively, press and hold the Reset button on the back of the router for about 6 seconds until the Power LED blinks. Then, visit
