Checklist Before Using the Device
- Your smartphone has connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
- You have entered the correct Wi-Fi password.
- Your smartphone is Android 4.4+ or iOS 8.0+.
- Your Wi-Fi router is MAC-open.
- If the number of devices connected to your Wi-Fi router reaches the limit, consider disabling a device to free up a channel or try a different Wi-Fi router.
How to Set Up
Follow these steps to set up your Universal IR Remote:
-
Download and Install the App
Scan the QR code provided or search for the "Smart Life" app in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store to download and install it on your smartphone.

-
Create an Account
Create an account using your mobile number and the provided authentication code.
-
Connect Your Device
Connect your mobile device to your Wi-Fi router. Connect the USB cable to a power source. Click the "+" icon in the upper right corner of the homepage or select "Add Device".
You have two connection options:
- Option 1: Turn on Bluetooth on your mobile: The app will prompt you to enable Bluetooth. Select the device to add. Enter your Wi-Fi name and password; the device will connect to the network automatically.
- Option 2: Do not turn on Bluetooth: Select "Universal Remote Control (Wi-Fi+BLE)" from the "Others" category. Enter your Wi-Fi password. Select "Blink Quickly" and ensure the LED indicator blinks rapidly. If not, press and hold the reset button for about 5 seconds until the indicator blinks rapidly. The device will connect. Alternatively, select "Blink Slowly" and ensure the LED indicator blinks slowly. If not, press and hold the reset button for about 5 seconds until it blinks slowly. Then, connect your mobile to the device's hotspot named "SmartLife-XXXX". Return to the App interface; it will connect to the router automatically, completing the configuration.
-
Configure Smart IR
Tap "Smart IR", then click "Add". Select the device and its brand you wish to control. Choose "Manual Mode" to match the buttons. Match at least 3 buttons to verify the device reacts correctly. Once confirmed, the matching is complete, and you can control the device.
-
Edit Device Name
After adding the device, you can rename it. For Android, long-press the device box and select "Rename". For iOS, slide the box to the left and choose "Rename".
-
DIY Mode (If Brand Not Found)
If the device's brand is not listed, you can use "DIY" mode to learn the buttons from another brand's remote control, enabling control of that device.
You can click "+" to copy more buttons or click "Finish".
Notes:
- The device only supports 38KHz frequency. If the IR remote cannot receive commands, the IR device's frequency might not match, preventing command learning.
- DIY mode does not support voice control.
Functions
-
Customize Scenario
Create smart scenarios for your IR devices. Navigate to the "Scene" page, tap "+" in the upper right corner, and set conditions and tasks.
-
Remote Control
With all-in-one integration, you can control added IR devices remotely from your mobile app anytime, anywhere.
-
Set Schedule
In the "Scene" page, select "Tap to Run" or "Automation". Tap "+" to choose "Schedule" and set power on/off times for IR devices.
-
Intelligent Linkage
Execute intelligent linkages based on environmental changes. For example, if the room temperature exceeds 35°C, the air conditioner can turn on automatically, or if humidity drops below 20% RH, the humidifier can spray.
-
Share Devices
Share your added devices with family members so they can also control them.
-
Third-party Voice Control
Works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control.
-
Backlight Display
When an object passes within 5cm of the backlight sensing switch, the backlight is triggered. The temperature and humidity readings are then locked for 2 minutes before returning to real-time updates.
-
Screen Display
Approximately 30 minutes after Wi-Fi configuration, the displayed temperature and humidity readings become more accurate, closer to the actual ambient environment. You can monitor data in real-time on the screen and view historical records.
-
Temperature Unit Switch
You can switch the temperature unit between °F and °C by pressing the reset button once. The temperature value will update accordingly on the screen but will not change in the app.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
-
When are the temperature and humidity readings on the screen most accurate?
About 30 minutes after configuration is completed, the temperature and humidity displayed on the screen will be closer to the actual ambient environment, making the readings more accurate.
-
After switching the temperature scale, will the temperature value shown on the screen and in the app sync?
The temperature value will change accordingly after switching, but this change is only visible on the screen; it does not affect the value shown in the app.
-
When will the backlight be triggered?
When an object passes within 5cm of the backlight sensing switch, the backlight will be triggered and last for about 10 seconds.
- When the backlight is off, the screen displays real-time temperature and humidity. If the ambient temperature changes by ≥0.3°C or humidity changes by >3%, the screen will immediately synchronize with the app. Otherwise, synchronization takes 1 minute.
- When the backlight is triggered, the temperature and humidity on the screen are locked for 2 minutes. If the backlight is triggered again within these 2 minutes, the lock duration is extended, but the total lock time will not exceed 15 minutes. The display returns to normal after unlocking.
-
Can I touch the screen with hard or sharp objects or drop the device on the floor?
Please avoid using hard or sharp objects to touch the screen and prevent the device from falling. Such actions may damage the screen and affect its functionality.
-
Please keep the IR remote away from any heat source.
Ensure the device is kept away from heat sources to maintain optimal performance and longevity.
