Introduction
The OMI-5 enclosure is designed for mounting SATEL INT-E, INT-O, and INT-PP expanders. With additional accessories like OMI-5 DIN and OMI-5 PI, it can accommodate other SATEL devices. The OMI-5 enclosure complies with EN 50131 requirements for GRADE 3. Additional accessories are sold separately. Note: Do not install ABAX 2, ABAX, or MICRA radio devices in this enclosure.
1. Features
- Capacity for up to 12 INT-E expanders or up to 6 INT-O / INT-PP expanders, with flexible arrangement options.
- A dedicated slot for the APS-612 / APS-412 power supply or a transformer.
- Includes a 12 V / 17 Ah battery tray.
- Supports additional accessories: DIN rails (OMI-5 DIN) and plastic mounting inserts (OMI-5 PI).
- Features high mechanical strength.
- Provides tamper protection against enclosure opening and removal from the mounting surface.
2. Description
The enclosure base features pin holes for mounting the PCBs of:
- 12 INT-E expanders (refer to "Installing the INT-E expanders" section).
- 6 INT-O / INT-PP expanders (refer to "Installing the INT-O / INT-PP expanders" section).
A DIN rail for mounting the APS-612 / APS-412 power supply is fastened to the enclosure base. The enclosure also includes a battery tray. Screw holes are provided for installing:
- Additional mounting accessories:
- Two DIN rails (refer to "Installing the OMI-5 DIN rails"). These rails can be used to mount INT-ORS and INT-IORS expanders.
- Two plastic mounting inserts (inner and outer, refer to "Installing the OMI-5 PI mounting inserts"). For a detailed list of compatible devices, see the "Description of mounting inserts" section.
- A transformer (refer to "Installing the transformer").
3. Installation
The installation process involves the following steps:
- Open the enclosure.
- Position the enclosure base against the wall and mark the locations for mounting holes (as shown in Fig. 1). If a tamper switch is to be installed, mark the location of its mounting hole as well.
- Drill holes in the wall for wall plugs (anchors), selecting appropriate plugs for the wall material (e.g., concrete, brick, plaster).
- Route cables through the designated holes in the enclosure base.
- Secure the enclosure base to the wall using screws.
- Pass the tamper switch holder through the hole in the enclosure base (as depicted in Fig. 2) and secure it to the wall with a screw (as shown in Fig. 3). The holder can be passed through any of the four available holes.
- Plan the arrangement of devices within the enclosure. Consult sections like "Installing the INT-E expanders," "Installing the INT-O / INT-PP expanders," "Installing the OMI-5 DIN rails," "Installing the OMI-5 PI mounting inserts," and "Examples of installing devices in the enclosure" for guidance.
- Insert the plastic pins for fastening PCBs into their corresponding holes.
- When installing additional accessories such as DIN rails or mounting inserts, fasten them to the base using screws. Before securing mounting inserts, plan the device layout and insert the pins into the appropriate holes (refer to "Description of mounting inserts").
- If installing a transformer, remove the DIN rail and attach the transformer to the base (refer to "Installing the transformer"). Connect the 230 VAC power wires to the transformer's terminals. ⚠️ Important: Never connect two devices with power supply to a single-section transformer. Ensure the circuit is de-energized before connecting the transformer.
- If installing a battery, place it on the designated tray (as shown in Fig. 1 and 11-B).
- Secure all devices and connect the necessary wires.
- Replace the cover and secure it with a screw.
Note on Tamper Switch: The enclosure must be equipped with a tamper switch to detect opening and removal from the surface to meet Standard EN 50131 for GRADE 3 requirements.
3.1 Installing the INT-E Expanders
Figure 4 illustrates the placement of INT-E expanders. The DIN rail for mounting the power supply is removed in this diagram.
Textual description of Figure 4: The diagram shows the enclosure base with multiple circular mounting points marked. These points are grouped to accommodate up to 12 INT-E expanders. Each expander is shown within a dashed rectangle, indicating its position, and is secured by pins inserted into the marked holes.
3.2 Installing the INT-O / INT-PP Expanders
Figure 5 shows the recommended positions for installing INT-O / INT-PP expanders. The DIN rail for the power supply is removed in this diagram.
Textual description of Figure 5: This diagram displays the enclosure base with mounting points arranged for up to 6 INT-O / INT-PP expanders. Each expander is outlined by a dashed rectangle, and its position is indicated by pin holes.
3.3 Installing the OMI-5 DIN Rails
Figure 6 indicates where to secure the OMI-5 DIN rails. The DIN rail for the power supply is removed in this diagram.
Textual description of Figure 6: The diagram shows the enclosure base with two parallel DIN rails being mounted. Mounting holes for securing these rails are highlighted.
3.4 Installing the OMI-5 PI Mounting Inserts
Figure 7 shows the installation of the inner mounting insert, and Figure 8 demonstrates the installation of the outer mounting insert.
Textual description of Figure 7: The diagram illustrates the placement of the inner OMI-5 PI mounting insert onto the enclosure base, showing the specific holes and alignment points.
Textual description of Figure 8: This diagram shows the installation of the outer OMI-5 PI mounting insert, which fits over the inner insert and provides additional mounting points and tilting functionality.
Description of Mounting Inserts
The mounting inserts facilitate the installation of multiple devices, such as control panels and expanders, without requiring a power supply. The outer insert can be tilted outwards after releasing its catches, providing easier access to devices on the inner insert.
Figure 9 (not shown in detail here, but described by Table 1) indicates pin holes for device fastening, marked with numbers. Table 1 lists the devices that can be mounted on these pins.
