Important Safety Information

Read these instructions carefully before operating the appliance. Retain the manual for future use or for subsequent owners.

The appliance can only be used safely if it is correctly installed according to the safety instructions. The installer is responsible for ensuring that the appliance works perfectly at its installation location.

This appliance is intended for domestic use and the household environment only. It is not intended for use outside. Do not leave the appliance unattended during operation. The manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by improper use or incorrect operation.

This appliance is intended for use up to a maximum height of 2000 metres above sea level.

This appliance may be used by children over the age of 8 years old and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience or knowledge, if they are supervised or instructed by a responsible person and understand the associated hazards.

Children must not play with, on, or around the appliance. Children must not clean the appliance or carry out general maintenance unless they are at least 15 years old and are being supervised.

Keep children below the age of 8 years old at a safe distance from the appliance and power cable.

Check the appliance for damage after unpacking. Do not connect if damaged during transport.

Only a licensed professional may connect appliances without plugs. Damage caused by incorrect connection is not covered under warranty.

Danger of suffocation! Packaging material is dangerous to children. Never allow children to play with packaging material.

Danger of death! Risk of poisoning from flue gases drawn back. Ensure adequate fresh air when operating in exhaust air mode simultaneously with room air-dependent heat-producing appliances (e.g., gas, oil, wood or coal-operated heaters, continuous flow heaters or water heaters). These appliances obtain combustion air from the room and discharge exhaust gases outdoors (e.g., via a chimney). In combination with an extractor hood, room air is extracted, potentially creating a partial vacuum if fresh air is insufficient. Toxic gases from the chimney or extraction shaft can be sucked back into the living space.

Adequate incoming air must always be ensured. An incoming/exhaust air wall box alone may not ensure compliance. Safe operation requires the partial vacuum not to exceed 4 Pa (0.04 mbar). This is achieved by ensuring air can enter through unsealed openings (doors, windows) or via other technical means. Consult your responsible chimney sweep for ventilation assessment.

Unrestricted operation is possible if the extractor hood is used exclusively in circulating-air mode.

Risk of fire! Grease deposits in the grease filter can ignite. Clean the grease filter at least every 2 months. Never operate without the grease filter.

Avoid naked flames near the appliance (e.g., flambéing). Do not install near solid fuel appliances (wood or coal) unless a closed, non-removable cover is available. Prevent flying sparks.

Hot oil and fat ignite quickly. Never leave hot oil/fat unattended. Do not use water to extinguish burning oil/fat; switch off the hotplate and carefully use a lid, fire blanket, or similar.

Gas burners without cookware can generate significant heat, potentially damaging or igniting the ventilation appliance. Always use cookware on gas burners.

Operating multiple gas burners simultaneously generates high heat. Do not operate two gas burners on high flame for longer than 15 minutes. A large burner (>5 kW, e.g., wok) is equivalent to two gas burners.

Risk of burns! Accessible parts become very hot during operation. Do not touch hot parts. Keep children at a safe distance.

Risk of injury! Internal components may have sharp edges. Wear protective gloves.

Objects placed on the appliance may fall. Do not place objects on the appliance.

Risk of electric shock! A defective appliance can cause electric shock. Never switch on a defective appliance. Unplug from the mains or switch off the circuit breaker in the fuse box and contact after-sales service.

Incorrect repairs are dangerous. Repairs and power cable replacements must only be carried out by trained after-sales technicians. If the appliance is defective, unplug or switch off the circuit breaker and contact after-sales service.

Do not use high-pressure cleaners or steam cleaners, as this can cause electric shock.

Causes of Damage

Caution!

Risk of damage due to corrosion: Always switch on the appliance during cooking to prevent condensation. Condensate can cause corrosion.

Replace faulty bulbs promptly to prevent overloading remaining bulbs.

Risk of damage from humidity in electronics: Never clean operator controls with a wet cloth.

Surface damage from incorrect cleaning: Clean stainless steel surfaces in the direction of the grain only. Do not use stainless steel cleaners for controls.

Surface damage from strong or abrasive cleaning agents: Never use strong or abrasive cleaning agents.

Risk of damage from returning condensate: Install the exhaust duct so it falls away from the appliance slightly (1° slope).

Environmental Protection

Your new appliance is highly energy-efficient. Here are tips for saving energy and proper disposal.

Saving Energy

Environmentally-friendly disposal

Dispose of packaging in an environmentally-friendly manner.

This appliance is marked with the WEEE symbol (Directive 2012/19/EU) for waste electrical and electronic equipment, providing a framework for return and recycling across the EU.

Operating Modes

The appliance can be used in exhaust-air mode or circulating-air mode.

Exhaust air mode

Air is drawn in, cleaned by grease filters, and expelled outdoors via a pipe system.

Diagram illustrating exhaust air mode: Air is drawn in, cleaned by grease filters, and expelled outdoors via a pipe system.

Note: Exhaust air must not be conveyed into a functioning smoke or exhaust gas flue or a shaft used to ventilate installation rooms containing heat-producing appliances. Obtain consent from the responsible heating engineer before conveying exhaust air into a non-functioning flue. Use a telescopic wall box for exhaust through the outer wall.

Circulating-air mode

Air is drawn in, cleaned by grease filters and an activated carbon filter, and returned to the kitchen.

Note: An activated carbon filter is required to bind odors in circulating-air mode. For options, consult the brochure, dealer, specialist outlets, customer service, or the online shop. Accessory numbers are at the end of the instructions.

Operating the Appliance

These instructions apply to several appliance variants; features not applicable to your model may be described.

Note: Switch on the extractor hood when you start cooking and switch it off again several minutes after finishing. This is the most effective way of removing kitchen fumes.
