If you are not having the installation carried out by a specialist workshop, please read the following installation instructions carefully.
General Installation Notes
When installing and operating the loudspeakers, observe safety regulations regarding supporting chassis members, applicable road safety regulations, and vehicle manufacturer instructions. Check if vehicle-specific MB QUART installation adapters are required. Protect your loudspeakers during installation and operation from damage, spray water, and overloading. Disconnect the vehicle battery's minus terminal during installation to prevent possible short-circuits. Avoid touching the delicate surface of the high and low-frequency membranes. Never use the loudspeaker chassis as a cutting or drilling template.
Pre-installation Checks
Before installing loudspeaker components, ensure there are no obstacles behind the mounting surface, such as window mechanisms. Also, ensure sufficient clearance between the front grilles and functional parts like window cranks or door handles.
Section 1: Tweeter Mounting Options
This section illustrates mounting options for MB QUART DISCUS tweeters. It shows two primary mounting configurations (labeled 1 and 2). Configuration 1 involves a circular cutout with a diameter of 45mm. Configuration 2 shows a similar setup with a cutout diameter of 30mm, with an additional mounting hole indicated with a diameter of 4.5mm.
Section 2: Woofer Mounting in Original Cut-out
This section details the installation of MB QUART DISCUS woofers into original vehicle cut-outs.
DKG 110 / DKG 113 / DSG 213
For these models, the minimum cutout diameter is 100.0mm and the maximum is 118mm for DKG 110, and minimum 138mm to maximum 146mm for DKG 113/DSG 213. The speaker mounting hole diameter is 88.0mm for DKG 110 and 115.0mm for DKG 113/DSG 213. Four mounting screws are indicated, with a hole diameter of 4.5mm.
DKG 116 / DSG 216
For these models, the cutout diameter is 158.0mm and the speaker mounting hole diameter is 145.0mm. Four mounting screws are indicated, with a hole diameter of 4.5mm.
Section 3: Woofer Mounting with Mounting Ring and Grille
This section describes the installation of woofers using a mounting ring and grille.
Dimensions are provided for different models: DKG 110 requires a 99.0mm cutout and has an 88.0mm mounting hole diameter. DKG 113/DSG 213 require a 128.0mm cutout and have a 115.0mm mounting hole diameter. DKG 116/DSG 216 require a 158.0mm cutout and have a 145.0mm mounting hole diameter. Four mounting screws are indicated, with a hole diameter of 4.5mm.
Section 4: DKG 110 4x6" Installation
This section provides installation instructions specifically for the DKG 110 4x6" speaker, showing its components and mounting hardware.
Section 5: Crossover Connection Instructions
This section illustrates the connection of the crossover (frequency divider) for different speaker models.
DKG 110
Shows connections to a woofer and tweeter, with a crossover unit. Terminal sizes indicated are 6.3mm.
DKG 113 / DKG 116
Shows connections to woofers and tweeters, with terminal sizes of 2.8mm and 4.8mm.
DSG 213 / DSG 216
Shows connections to woofers and tweeters, including a crossover unit (MB QUART DXE 216 SP) with adjustable output levels (0dB, -3dB, -6dB). Terminal sizes indicated are 6.3mm and 4.8mm. Connections are labeled for WOOFER, TWEETER, INPUT, OUTPUT.
