Foods that expand during cooking (e.g., rice) should never go above the 1/2 mark.
Note: The Multi-Cooker requires a minimum of 250ml of liquid for pressure cooking.
Pressure Cooking
Pressure cooking uses steam in a sealed pot to raise liquid temperature above boiling point, reducing cooking times. It's ideal for soups, stocks, casseroles, meats, rice, and desserts.
- HIGH Pressure: 6.5 - 10 PSI (45 - 70 kPa). Suitable for a wide range of foods.
- LOW Pressure: 3.3 - 6.5 PSI (23 - 45 kPa). Suited for delicate foods like chicken, fish, and some vegetables.
- KEEP WARM Setting: Automatically switches on after cooking to keep food warm. Not hot enough to cook.
Capacity: Never fill above MAX line. Foods that expand should not exceed the 1/2 mark. Minimum 250ml liquid is required.
Functions using pressure: Meat/Stew, Beans/Chili, Poultry, Soup, Rice/Grains, Dessert, Steam, and Manual Pressure.
IMPORTANT: Do not cook more than 4 cups of dried beans/legumes with 8 cups of water. Wait at least 10 minutes after cooking before releasing the pressure valve.

Make sure the Cooking Pot has enough liquid (minimum 250ml) and is not filled over the "MAX" line. Ensure the Cooking Pot was at least 1/3 full. |
Doneness of food | My food was overcooked | Check that the proper pressure, temperature, and time were selected. |
Programming | Can I set a time for the Brown/Sear and SautÉ program? | Yes, a time can be selected if desired. |
Programming | Can I change the cooking function, time or temperature once the food is cooking? | Yes. Press START/STOP, select a new function, adjust time/temperature as required, and press START/STOP again. Time and temperature can be changed at any time. |
Cooking | Can the Cooking Pot and Lid be used on top of the stove or in the oven? | No, the Cooking Pot and Lid are not oven safe and cannot be used on the stove or in the oven. |
Cooking | I stopped the cooking process and changed pressure settings, and now the Multi-Cooker is preheating again. | If a cooking cycle is stopped and a new one is started, the Multi-Cooker may display "HEAt" until the new pressure is achieved. |
Steam | Steam is leaking out of the Multi-Cooker | It is normal for a small amount of steam to come out of the Bobber Valve before pressurisation. If steam is coming from the perimeter of the Lid, the Lid has not been closed and locked completely, or too much water has been added. |
Lid | I am having trouble removing the Lid. | There is a safety feature preventing Lid removal while the unit is under pressure. Ensure the unit is de-pressurised by rotating the Steam Release Valve to the [Release position]. Refer to the "Releasing Pressure" section. |

Hints & Tips
Your Express Crock can create a wide variety of meals. Cooking times may require trial and error.
- Refer to your Express Crock user guide.
- Never fill the Cooking Pot past the MAX line.
- Do not leave the Multi-Cooker plugged in when not in use.
- Keep the Multi-Cooker away from cabinets and walls when in use.
- The Cooking Pot is designed for use only in this Multi-Cooker. Do not use on stovetop, in microwave, or in oven.
- The provided Steaming Rack should not damage the Cooking Pot surface.
- When removing the Lid, use a pot holder to grasp the Lid Handle and lift away from your body to allow steam to escape.
- Always place a trivet or pot holder under the Cooking Pot if it is removed from the Heating Base.
Hints & Tips For Slow Cooking
- Use BROWN/SEAR or SAUTÉ functions first to sear meats and vegetables, and to thicken sauces/gravies at the end. Browning meat improves color, seals juices, and keeps meat tender.
- To thicken a casserole, use the SIMMER function and stir in a cornflour/water mixture until thickened.
- Chop vegetables to a similar small size, as they cook faster than root vegetables. Cut meat into larger chunks to prevent it breaking up.
- The Multi-Cooker recovers heat slowly during slow cooking. Using the glass lid helps monitor cooking without removing the lid. Meat and vegetable thickness can vary cooking times.
- Slow cooking reduces evaporation, maintaining flavors and juices. Adjust liquid amounts accordingly for your own recipes.
Temperature Suggestions for Slow Cooking:
- High: For recipes requiring shorter cooking times (4-6 hours).
- Low: For recipes requiring longer cook times (more than 8 hours), ideal for less tender meats.
Recipe Ideas for Slow Cooking:
- High: Ideal for sauces, chili, potato dishes, cheese dishes, chicken wings, and meatballs in sauce.
- Low: Ideal for less tender cuts of meat, braised meats, dried beans, soups, and stews.
