This document provides a comprehensive guide to setting up and using your Weather & Radar Home device. It covers everything from initial setup to understanding detailed weather information and customizing device settings.

Getting Started: Setup

Follow these simple steps to set up your Weather & Radar Home device:

  1. Connect the device to a power outlet.
  2. Establish a Wi-Fi connection.
  3. Automatic localization: The weather for your current location will be displayed.

Tip: For a faster location setup, tap the red dot in the center of the WeatherRadar.

Understanding the Display

WeatherRadar - Live for the next 90 minutes

The upper part of the screen displays the WeatherRadar for your location. Tapping the map starts a 90-minute weather development film. The radar updates every 5 minutes. You can pause the film by tapping and holding the radar image.

WeatherRadar elements:

Tip: Swipe left or right on the map to play the weather clip forwards or backwards.

Weather during the day, current temperature, and WeatherTrend

The lower part of the screen shows the daily weather forecast and the Weather Trend for upcoming days. The center displays the current time and temperature.

Tip: Click and hold the clock to open settings.

Detailed Weather

Tap on an individual day to see detailed weather information, including sunshine duration, probability of rain, and rain amount. Tap on a day segment for an hourly forecast including temperature and wind.

14-day weather

Press 'Trend' in the top right corner of the hourly or daily forecast to view the projected weather and temperature development for the next 14 days.

Tip: Swipe from right to left over the forecast days on the home screen to access the 14-day trend.

Severe weather warnings

In case of impending severe weather, an alert is displayed in the top left. Depending on severity, an additional warning symbol appears. Tap the warning to open the warning map and see the extent of the severe weather.

Integrated indoor climate sensor

The device measures room temperature and humidity, helping you control your indoor climate. A humidity level of 40-60% is considered optimal.

History: The history provides an overview of the past 48 hours, helping you determine the best times to air out the room.

Tip: Swipe over the values at the bottom left to go directly to the history page.

Pollen count

Detailed information on pollen count and a pollen calendar are available for allergy sufferers, aiding both short-term and long-term planning.

UV index

The UV index is displayed for the current day and the next six days, with levels ranging from 'low' to 'extreme'. This helps in taking protective measures against harmful UV radiation.

Tip: Navigate through different views by swiping left or right.

Air quality index

The air quality index helps you decide on outdoor activities. Forecasts are available for the next four days.

Astro info

Provides sunrise/sunset times for the sun and moon, moon phase, and sunshine hours. Data for the next five days can be displayed with a swipe to the left.

Settings

More weather data

Select up to 8 additional weather data points to display next to the weather map. Options include:

Tip: Tap on sunrise or sunset to see the respective other event.

Brightness, zoom function & other settings

Adjust brightness via a slider, use zoom controls for the weather map, and access advanced settings.

Tip: To set the scale of the weather map, use the '+' and '-' buttons, the slider, or pinch your thumb and pointer finger together or apart.

Set screen times

Define specific times for the device to be on standby or active. You can set different times for different days and create custom rules. The default operating time is from 6 am to 11 pm.

Tip: Days can also be selected or deselected in the overview.

My location

Your location is automatically determined. You can specify a different location for the WeatherRadar and weather data under the 'Location' menu item. The last three searched locations are shown below the search bar.

Info

Access the weather legend and a short introduction tour covering the device's basic functions.

Wi-Fi

Connect to the internet during initial setup. You can change Wi-Fi settings anytime under the 'Wi-Fi' menu item. Ensure you are using a 2.4 GHz network with WPA (2) encryption.

First aid for Wi-Fi connection:

Tip: Visit the help section by tapping a Wi-Fi network in the list and then the help button.

System

This menu provides system-relevant information and functions, including software version, MAC address, data privacy, and options to restart or reset the device. Check 'Changelog' for the latest features and improvements.

Language & units

Select the country and display language. Adjust units for time display (12/24 hour), temperature (Celsius/Fahrenheit), distance/speed (metric/imperial), wind unit (km/h, m/s, Bft, mph), and air pressure (hPA, inHg, mmHg).

Tip: Instead of relative humidity, the dew point can be displayed in additional weather data (see page 13).

Advanced settings

Further customize your Weather & Radar Home experience:

Standby

Double-tap the display to enter standby mode. Touch the screen to wake the device. You can define the standby time frame in the 'Display' settings.

Note: Only 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks with WPA (2) encryption are supported.

Reset

How to perform a reset

In case of unexpected problems, you can reset the device to factory settings:

  1. Unplug the cable from the back of the weather display.
  2. Place the device on a soft surface with the display pointing downwards.
  3. Use a toothpick to gently push and hold the reset button. While holding, plug the cable back in and wait 10 seconds. Then release the toothpick.
  4. Set up the weather display. Do not interrupt the power supply during this process.

The display will show 'to be deleted', and the device will start in the factory state, ready for reconfiguration.
