The Minolta MNCD450 Car Camcorder integrates multi-functions of 1080p HD video capture, high resolution photo capture and a compact form factor. It adopts video decoding technology of high performance and compression ratios to deliver excellent video quality. This camcorder is intended for in-vehicle shooting, which effectively enables the collection of evidence for driving accidents, daily life, traveling and outdoor activities. The Minolta MNCD450 allows you to record video when mounted to your car's windshield in a wide, large angle.
This quick guide explains how to use your camcorder and provides additional information, including precautions and technical specifications. Please read through it carefully and understand this quick guide before use. Keep it properly stored away for reference.
Safety and Handling Precautions
- Do not take apart or attempt to service the camcorder yourself.
- Do not expose the camcorder to moisture, or extreme temperatures.
- Allow the camera to warm up when moving from cold to warm temperatures.
- Do not touch and put pressure on the camera lens.
- Do not expose the lens to direct sunlight for extended periods.
- Do not use abrasive chemicals, cleaning solvents or strong detergents to clean the product. Wipe the product with a slightly damp soft cloth.
- When the camera is used for an extended period of time, it is normal for the camera body to feel warm.
- Do not subject the LCD monitor to impact.
- To prevent the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture.
1. Getting Started
1.1 Overview
The Minolta MNCD450 features a compact design with various ports and buttons for operation. The front of the device houses the lens, while the top and sides contain control buttons and ports.
Front View Description: The front of the camcorder features the primary lens (13) for capturing video and photos. Below the lens, the brand name 'MINOLTA' is visible.
Top/Side View Description: The top and right side of the camcorder feature several buttons and indicators:
- Display (1): The main LCD screen showing the current view, menus, and status.
- Power | Mode (2): Used to power the device on/off (hold for 3 seconds) and cycle through Video, Photo, and Playback modes (short press).
- Up (3): Navigation button for menus and playback.
- OK | Record (4): Used to confirm selections in menus and start/stop recording in shooting modes.
- Down (5): Navigation button for menus and playback.
- Menu (6): Button to access and exit menus and submenus.
- Microphone (7): Built-in microphone for audio capture.
- USB Port (8): For power and data transfer to a computer.
- LED Flash Light (9): Provides additional lighting for photos.

1.3 Memory Card Insertion and Removal
To insert or remove a MicroSD memory card:
- Ensure the camcorder is powered off.
- Insert a MicroSD memory card into the MicroSD card slot with the gold pins facing the display screen. Do not force it; it only inserts in one direction. It will click when successfully inserted.
- To remove the MicroSD card, push it in, and it will bounce back out of the slot.
Caution: Do not remove or insert the memory card when recording. Doing so may cause the card to become damaged or cause data loss.
1.4 Windshield Suction Cup Mount
The included windshield mount is used for attaching the camcorder to your car's windshield.
- Screw the mount's adaptor clockwise to fasten it to your dashcam, or counterclockwise to loosen it.
- Apply the suction cup side to the top of your windshield.
- Before applying, ensure your windshield is clean and free of any dirt or debris.
Note: If the suction cup loses its grip over time, thoroughly clean the clear suction area with soap and water. After cleaning, allow it to dry for 2 hours and reapply it to your windshield.
1.5 Startup
1.5.1 In-Car Use
Connect the included auxiliary DC power adaptor to your car's power port and plug the USB end into the camcorder's USB port. Charging will begin immediately. The camcorder's internal battery has limited capacity and is intended for emergency use.
1.5.2 USB Cord / Computer Use
Connect the included USB cable to a free USB port on your computer and the other end to the camcorder's USB port. The battery can be charged whether the camcorder is powered on or off.
While charging, the LCD monitor displays the battery's status:
- [Battery Icon with Plug]: Dashcam is connected to auxiliary power and battery is fully charged.
- [Battery Icon with Blue Bars]: Dashcam is connected to auxiliary power and is charging.
- [Battery Icon with Blue Bars, disconnected]: Dashcam is disconnected from auxiliary power and running on battery.
2. Using Your Camcorder
Quick Use Instructions
Simply insert the memory card into the card slot and connect the auxiliary power adaptor to the camcorder's USB port and your car's power port. The camcorder will automatically power on and begin recording a video file.
To start or stop recording at any time, press the [OK] button. You can also remove the auxiliary DC power adaptor at any time to automatically save a recording and power off the camcorder. Mount it to your windshield, plug in the power, and drive!
3. Camcorder Operation
Once the MicroSD memory card is inserted and the camcorder is plugged into a power source, it will automatically power on. You can also manually power it on or off by pressing the [POWER] button for 3 seconds.
There are 3 operation modes: Video, Photo, and Playback. Cycle through modes by short-pressing the [POWER / MODE] button. The current mode is shown in the upper left corner of the display. Modes cannot be changed while recording; recording must stop first.
3.1 Video Capture Mode
Upon powering on, the camcorder defaults to Video Mode and begins recording automatically. Press the [OK] button to start or stop recording. To manually capture video from another mode, enter VIDEO Mode and press the [OK] button.
3.2 Photo Capture Mode
To capture a photo, enter PHOTO Mode by short-pressing the [POWER / MODE] button until a camera icon appears in the upper left corner. Press the [OK] button to instantly capture a photo. You can also capture a photo during video recording by pressing the [UP] button.
3.3 Playback Mode
To review video and photo files, enter PLAYBACK Mode by short-pressing the [POWER / MODE] button until a captured file is displayed. The most recent file appears first.
- Press the [UP] and [DOWN] buttons to cycle through available files.
- Press the [MENU] button to delete or protect a file from deletion.
- Press the [POWER / MODE] button again to exit PLAYBACK mode.
Playing Back Video Clips
- Press the [OK] button to play or pause a video clip in PLAYBACK mode.
- Press the [MENU] button to delete or protect a file from deletion.
3.4 Main Screen and Icons Explanation
VIDEO MODE
The video mode screen displays various indicators:
- 1. VIDEO Mode: Indicates the camcorder is in video recording mode.
- 2. Recording Active: Shows that recording is currently in progress.
- 3. Gravity Sensor Enabled: Indicates the gravity sensor is active.
- 4. High Dynamic Range (HDR): Shows if HDR is enabled for enhanced image quality.
- 5. Collision Sensitivity: Displays the status of collision detection sensitivity.
- 6. Video Size (Resolution): Shows the current video resolution setting (e.g., 1080P).
- 7. Recording Time Elapsed: Displays the duration of the current recording.
- 8. Loop Recording Enabled: Indicates if loop recording is active.
- 9. Motion Detection Enabled: Shows if motion detection is enabled.
- 10. Parking Guard: Indicates if the parking guard feature is active.
- 11. Memory Card Inserted: Confirms that a memory card is present.
- 12. Microphone Enabled: Shows if the microphone is active.
- 13. Current Time: Displays the current time.
- 14. Current Date: Displays the current date.
- 15. Power Status: Indicates the battery level or power source.
PHOTO MODE
The photo mode screen displays different indicators:
- 1. PHOTO Mode: Indicates the camcorder is in photo capture mode.
- 2. Self-Timer Delay: Shows the countdown for the self-timer.
- 3. Image Stabilization Status: Indicates if image stabilization is active.
- 4. Photo Burst: Shows if the photo burst mode is enabled.
- 5. Picture Size (Resolution): Displays the selected photo resolution.
- 6. Number of Pictures Remaining: Indicates how many more photos can be taken with current settings.
- 7. Automatic White Balance: Shows if automatic white balance is active.
- 8. Automatic ISO Enabled: Indicates if automatic ISO is active.
- 9. Current Image Quality: Displays the selected photo quality setting.
- 10. Memory Card Inserted: Confirms that a memory card is present.
- 11. Current Time: Displays the current time.
- 12. Current Date: Displays the current date.
- 13. Power Status: Indicates the battery level or power source.
4. Menu & Settings Interface
4.1 Video Mode Settings
Your camcorder offers user-adjustable settings to fine-tune video capture. Settings are optimized and preset for ease of use.
Ensure you are in VIDEO mode by short-pressing the [POWER / MODE] button. The current mode appears in the upper left corner of the display. Cycle through modes with subsequent short presses of the [POWER / MODE] button.
Note: The settings menu cannot be accessed while recording. Stop recording using the [OK] button before accessing settings.
4.1.1 Video Resolution
Choose from preset resolution and frames per second rates. Higher resolution results in higher quality and larger video files.
- In VIDEO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'Video Resolution' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: 1080p (highest quality), 720p (medium quality), or 480p (low quality).
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.1.2 Loop Recording
This setting defines the maximum duration for each video clip. Once the selected duration is reached, the camcorder seamlessly ends the current recording and begins a new file.
- In VIDEO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'Loop Recording' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Off, 1 Minute Loop, 3 Minute Loop, or 5 Minute Loop.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.1.3 High Dynamic Range
Enable or disable High Dynamic Range (HDR) to improve color range and contrast in digital images and video.
- In VIDEO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'High Dynamic Range' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Off or On.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.1.4 Motion Detection
This setting automatically begins recording when movement is detected in front of the lens. Recording stops if no further movement is detected within 10 seconds of the last movement. You can also manually stop recording by pressing the [OK] button.
- In VIDEO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'Motion Detection' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Off or On.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
Note: When set to OFF, the camcorder will still automatically record upon startup if powered off.
4.1.5 Audio Recording
This setting controls the built-in microphone (ON or OFF) during video recording. You can choose to record audio with the video or record without audio.
- In VIDEO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'Audio Recording' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Off or On.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.1.6 Date & Time Stamp
Imprint a date and time onto your recorded video files. Once imprinted, the text cannot be removed.
- In VIDEO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'Date & Time Stamp' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Off or On.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.1.7 Collision Sensitivity
Set the sensitivity level for automatic recording upon collision. When triggered, the camcorder will automatically begin recording, and the file will be stored with a lock icon 🔏, protected from deletion.
- In VIDEO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'Collision Sensitivity' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Off, Low, Medium, or High.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.1.8 Parking Guard (Park Mode)
This setting allows the camcorder to automatically power on and record a video clip if it detects a collision while parked and powered off. It activates only if sufficient battery power remains. When triggered, recording begins, and the file is stored with a lock icon 🔏, protected from deletion.
- In VIDEO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'Parking Guard' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Off or On.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
Note: When set to Off, the camcorder will still automatically record upon startup if powered off.
4.1.9 Headlight Monitor
This setting alerts you to turn on your car's headlights if the road appears too dark.
- In VIDEO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'Headlight Monitor' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Off or On.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.2 Photo Mode Settings
Customize your photo capture settings. Settings are optimized and preset for ease of use.
Ensure you are in PHOTO mode by short-pressing the [POWER] button. The current mode appears in the upper right corner. Cycle through modes with subsequent short presses of the [POWER] button.
Note: The settings menu cannot be accessed while recording. Stop recording using the [OK] button before accessing settings.
4.2.1 Photo Resolution
Choose from preset photo resolution sizes. Higher resolution yields higher quality and larger photo files.
- In PHOTO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'Resolution' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: 12 Mega Pixels (highest quality), 10 Mega Pixels, 8 Mega Pixels, or 5 Mega Pixels (lowest quality).
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.2.2 Photo Burst
Capture 3 consecutive pictures at once.
- In PHOTO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'Photo Burst' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Off or 3 Photos.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.2.3 Photo Quality
Determines the compression level for saving photos. Higher compression results in lower quality but smaller file sizes.
- In PHOTO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'Photo Quality' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Fine (highest quality), Normal, or Economy (lowest quality).
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.2.4 Photo Sharpness
Adjusts the visible detail in captured photos.
- In PHOTO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'Photo Sharpness' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Strong (sharp, saturated), Normal (medium sharpness), or Soft (duller photo).
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.2.5 White Balance
Sets the color of light in your photos, affecting the scene's warmth or coolness.
- In PHOTO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'White Balance' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Tungsten, or Fluorescent.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.

4.2.6 Photo Color Filter
Applies filter color effects to photos.
- In PHOTO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'Photo Color Filter' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Normal, Black and White, or Sepia.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.

4.2.7 ISO
Determines the light sensitivity for photos.
- In PHOTO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'ISO' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Auto, 100, 200, or 400.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.2.8 Image Stabilization
Enables electronic elimination of motion blur and shake for clearer images in shaky or low-light conditions.
- In PHOTO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'Image Stabilization' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Off or On.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.2.9 Quick Review
Allows you to review a photo immediately after it's taken before returning to Photo Mode.
- In PHOTO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'Quick Review' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Off, 2 Seconds, or 5 Seconds.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.2.10 Self-Timer
Captures photos using a preset countdown.
- In PHOTO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'Self-Timer' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Off, 2s Delay, 5s Delay, or 10s Delay.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.2.11 Date & Time Stamp
Imprints a date and time onto your captured photos. Once imprinted, the text cannot be removed.
- In PHOTO mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'Date & Time Stamp' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Off or On.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.3 Playback Mode Settings
Access Playback Mode by pressing the [POWER / MODE] button three times from the main screen. Cycle through modes with subsequent presses of the [MODE] button.
4.3.1 Delete
Delete recorded video and photo files directly from the camcorder.
- In PLAYBACK mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'Delete' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: 'Delete Current?' or 'Delete All?'.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
- Press the [MENU] button to exit without deleting.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
Note: Deleted media cannot be recovered. Only locked files are protected from deletion.
4.3.2 File Lock
Protect your recorded video and photo files from being deleted in PLAYBACK mode.
- In PLAYBACK mode, press the [MENU] button. Select 'File Lock' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Lock Current, Unlock Current, Lock All, or Unlock All.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
- Press the [MENU] button to exit without making a selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.4 Setup Settings Menu
The Setup Settings Menu can be accessed in any mode by pressing the [MENU] button twice. The menu navigates to the Setup Settings.
Note: The settings menu cannot be accessed while recording. Stop recording using the [OK] button before accessing settings.
4.4.1 LED Flash
Controls the LED photo light for your dashcam.
- In any mode, press the [MENU] button twice. Select 'LED Flash' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Off, On, or Auto.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.4.2 Screen Auto Shut Off
Sets the time before the LCD screen turns off automatically.
- In any mode, press the [MENU] button twice. Select 'Screen Auto Shut Off' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Off, 1 Minute, 3 Minutes, or 5 Minutes.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
- After the selected time, the screen will power off. Press any button to wake it.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.4.3 Frequency
Sets the camcorder's power frequency based on your region. North America uses 60Hz.
- In any mode, press the [MENU] button twice. Select 'Frequency' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: 50Hz or 60Hz.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.4.4 Beep Sound
Enables or disables the sound made when pressing a button.
- In any mode, press the [MENU] button twice. Select 'Beep Sound' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: Off or On.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.4.5 Language
Sets the language for the camcorder's menus.
- In any mode, press the [MENU] button twice. Select 'Language' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select from the available languages.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.4.6 Date & Time Setup
Sets the date and time for display on videos and photos.
- In any mode, press the [MENU] button twice. Select 'Date & Time Setup' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- The menu presents fields for Date (MM / DD / YYYY) and Time (HH:MM:SS, 24-hour format).
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to change values. Press [OK] to confirm a value and move to the next.
Press the [MENU] button twice to save settings and exit, returning to the main status screen.
4.4.7 Format Memory Card
Erases all video and photo files stored on your memory card.
- In any mode, press the [MENU] button twice. Select 'Format Memory Card' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: No or Yes.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.

4.4.8 Reset To Default Settings
Resets all menu settings to factory defaults. This does not delete media stored on the memory card.
- In any mode, press the [MENU] button twice. Select 'Reset To Default Settings' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons to navigate and select a setting: No or Yes.
- Press the [OK] button to confirm your selection.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
4.4.9 Firmware Version
Displays the current firmware version of your camcorder.
- In any mode, press the [MENU] button twice. Select 'Firmware Version' using the [UP] or [DOWN] buttons. Press [OK] to enter the submenu.
- The menu will display the current firmware version.
To exit, press the [MENU] button twice to return to the main status screen.
5. Media Transfer & Reset
Connecting to a Computer
Connect your camcorder to a computer using the included USB cable. The camcorder will automatically power on and download necessary compatibility drivers.
The camcorder functions as a memory card reader. To access files:
- Go to Start (or File Explorer) → This PC → find 'Removable Disk'.
- Your media will be stored in a folder on this drive.
Reset
If your camcorder freezes or becomes unresponsive, press the [RESET] button to reset and power cycle it. Insert a pointy object into the reset hole on the front body to fully reset.
