Water Resistance
Important Information: Read Before Use
For all categories of watches, the following are prohibited:
- Pressing buttons underwater.
- Moving hands underwater.
- Unscrewing the crown underwater.
If the watch is exposed to saltwater, rinse it thoroughly with fresh water and dry it completely. Do not wear watches with leather straps while swimming. Avoid prolonged contact of leather straps with water.
Watches are classified into grades (from I to V) according to their degree of water resistance. Consult the table below to determine the correct usage for your watch.
* Grade | Case Marking | Splashes, rain, etc. | Swimming, car washing, etc. | Scuba diving, snorkeling, etc. | Scuba diving |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
I | - | No | No | No | No |
II | WATER RESISTANT | Yes | No | No | No |
III | 50 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | No | No |
IV | 100 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
V | 200 M WATER RESISTANT 300 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Notes:
- Grade I: Watches are not water-resistant. Avoid contact with any moisture.
- Grade II: WR (Water Resistant) means the model is water-resistant according to ISO 2281. Brief contact with water will not cause any problems.
- Grade III: With 5 Bar (50 meters) water resistance, the watch can withstand water pressure of the indicated value and can therefore be used during showering and brief swimming.
- Grade IV: 10 Bar (100 meters) water resistance means the watch can be used during normal swimming and snorkeling.
- Grade V: 20 Bar (200 meters) water resistance means the watch can be used for scuba diving (except for depths requiring a helium-oxygen mixture).
When using the product in conditions of rapid temperature changes, slight condensation may form on the inside of the glass. This phenomenon is due to the laws of physics and is not a defect.
CASIO COMPUTER CO., LTD. is not responsible for any damage that may occur from the use of this watch, and accepts no claims from third parties.
Operating Instructions
Your watch may differ slightly from the illustrations in this manual.
Note on Screw-Lock Crown
Some water-resistant watch models are equipped with a screw-lock crown. To pull out such a crown, you must unlock it by turning it in the direction indicated in the illustration [arrow pointing right]. Do not use excessive force when pulling out the crown, as this may cause damage. Note that the watch is no longer protected against water and moisture when the crown is pulled out. After completing all operations using the crown, return it to its original position and lock it.

Special Features
Watches with Backlight
Press and hold button L to illuminate the watch face. The backlight duration varies by model: from 2 to 3 seconds, 1 second, or while button L is pressed (Module 5577). The backlight is achieved using electroluminescent (EL) elements or LEDs. EL elements may lose power after prolonged use. Frequent use of the backlight shortens battery life. Turning on the backlight for an extended period or with a low battery may cause the hands to stop moving for a while.
Watches with Rotating Bezel
Rotate the bezel to align the mark with the minute hand. After some time, you can tell how much time has passed since you aligned the mark with the minute hand.
