Remote or Outdoor Sensor Installation (Optional)
Required: Daikin Remote Sensor Part No. 667720401.
- Remove the cover from the remote sensor housing.
- Select an appropriate mounting location for the remote sensor.
- Mount the remote sensor unit using provided hardware.
- Install two-strand shielded wire between the remote sensor and thermostat. Shielded wire is mandatory. Do not run sensor wire in conduit with other wires.
- Wire 1: Connect between S1 terminal on thermostat and S1 terminal on remote sensor.
- Wire 2: Connect between S2 terminal on thermostat and S2 terminal on remote sensor.
- Connect the wire shielding to the S2 terminal on the thermostat.
- Configure the thermostat to use the remote sensor (see Configuration Mode setting 10).
Note: Remote or outdoor sensor readings can be displayed by simultaneously pressing the Down and SYS buttons.
Configuration Mode
This mode allows setting the Daikin thermostat to match your heating/cooling system (heat pump, A/C, gas, oil, electric). To configure:
- Ensure the thermostat is in OFF mode (press SYS button until OFF displays).
- Remove the thermostat cover by gently pulling at the top seam.
- Press and hold the CONFIG button for 1 second while in OFF mode.
- Use the Up/Down buttons to change settings and the Right button to advance to the next screen. The Left button returns to the previous screen. Exit by pressing CONFIG for 1 second.
Configuration Settings:
- Temperature Scale: Select Fahrenheit (F) or Celsius (C).
- Temperature Differential: Set the degree difference between setpoint and turn-on temperature (1°F to 5°F or 0.5°C to 2.5°C).
- Deadband: Set the minimum degree difference between heat and cool setpoints in Autochangeover mode (1°F to 9°F or 1°C to 5°C).
- System: Configure for heat pump, non-heat pump, reversing valve operation, and number of compressors/stages. Options include Heat Pump (HP O 1, HP b 1), Non-Heat Pump (Heat Gas, Heat Electric).
- Lockout: Set the allowable temperature change during keypad lockout (0-8°). COOL-HEAT lockout limits adjustments to maximum heat and minimum cool setpoints.
- Maximum Heat Setpoint: Adjust the highest allowed heat set temperature (45°F to 90°F or 7°C to 32°C).
- Minimum Cool Setpoint: Adjust the lowest allowed cool set temperature (45°F to 90°F or 7°C to 32°C).
- Room Temperature Offset: Calibrate the displayed room temperature to match actual temperature (+9°F to -9°F or +4.5°C to -4.5°C). A
CAL
indicator appears when offset is not 0. - Maximum Cycles Allowed Per Hour: Set the maximum heating/cooling cycles per hour (-- for as many as needed, 2-6).
- Temperature Sensor: Select sensor for room temperature: 1 (on-board only), 2 (remote only), or 3 (average of on-board and remote).
- Cooling Fan Delay Off Time: Select fan purge time for cooling (0, 30, 60, 90 seconds).
- Status Indicator Light: Configure the LED indicator: 0 (never on) or 1 (on with first stage).
Press CONFIG for 2 seconds to exit configuration.
Mode of Operation
The Daikin thermostat is an auto-changeover, single-stage heat/cool thermostat compatible with various systems. It activates heating when room temperature is below the set heat temperature (plus differential) and cooling when above the set cool temperature (minus differential). Heat pumps and A/C compressors have a 4-minute restart delay to protect the equipment. The thermostat offers four operating modes:
- OFF Mode: No heating or cooling devices are activated. The fan can be manually operated.
- Heat Mode: Controls the heating system. A [Flame symbol] appears on the display.
- Cool Mode: Controls the cooling system. A [Snowflake symbol] appears on the display.
- Cool and Heat Mode (Auto Changeover): Automatically switches between heating and cooling as needed. The display alternates between clock and set temperature.
A button lockout feature is available to prevent unauthorized changes.
Testing the Thermostat
CAUTION: Do not energize the A/C system when the outdoor temperature is below 50°F (10°C) to prevent equipment damage or injury.
Heat Test:
- Set SYS to Heat mode.
- Adjust set temperature 5°F above room temperature. Heat should activate (red LED may light).
- Adjust set temperature 2°F below room temperature. Heat should turn off (fan delay may occur).
- For heat pumps, a 4-minute compressor delay applies. Bypass by going to OFF mode for 5 seconds.
Cool Test:
- Set SYS to Cool mode.
- Adjust set temperature 5°F below room temperature. A/C should activate (green LED may light).
- Adjust set temperature 2°F above room temperature. A/C should turn off (fan delay may occur).
- For compressors, a 4-minute delay applies. Bypass by going to OFF mode for 5 seconds.
Fan Test:
- Press FAN button; fan operates (FAN display and icon appear).
- Press FAN button again; fan turns off.
